LA NITE Jam V Launches September 28
Zachary, Bennett’s Trilakes to host International Waterski Competition
How do you make waterskiing a spectator sport? More crowd interaction, more excitement, more extreme, more danger!? This is what three essential waterski industry guys sat down to ponder one evening by a beautiful lakeside sunset: Jay Bennett of Bennettʼs Waterski and Wakeboard School, Aarne Clow of Mastercraft Boats, and Chris Sullivan of Radar Skis. “How can we make this better?” Professional Waterski Jumpers fly at a 6ʼ ramp at 70mph and soar through the air over 200ʼ in distance… How do make THAT more exciting!? Well, sitting there at sunset, the answer was simple: Turn out the lights! Lets host a competition at night! And thus, the LA Night Jam began to develop. Only a handful of ski sites around the word have attempted such a setting. It is quite dangerous and a little
difficult to persuade the athletes that this is actually GOOD for their sport. With the masterminds of Jay Bennett and professional extreme distance jumper Freddy Krueger, the lighting was tried, tested and strategically locked down into prime position. The skier comes flying out of the darkness, soars through the air and lands safely with out being blinded. The crowds at the 2007 INT National Championships, hosted at Bennettʼs Waterski and Wakeboard School would be the test group. Their Saturday night entertainment, little did they know, was just the teaser for the most successful stop on the MasterCraft Pro Tour the following season. With a captive audience already in place, they only had to invite potential future sponsors (or VIPs from town) to join in on the action.
Mark your calendars and plan to spend a little time behind the wheel of a shiny new car at Zachary High on Saturday, September 14, from 9 a.m. until the 4 p.m. for the Ford Motor Company Drive 4 UR School program brought to you by Superior Ford in Zachary. The event gives individuals the opportunity to test drive a new car while raising funds for the school. This event is being coordinated between Superior Ford and the ZHS PTO organization. “We are very excited to be able to be a part of such a great opportunity. Ford Motor Company is bringing Drive 4UR SCHOOL to Zachary High School which allows us to raise up to $6000. We will be able allocate funds to special programs which do not have the funding currently on hand,” said Sharron Ventura, ZHS PTO president. “We offer a special thank you to Brian Guidry, general manager, and owner Patrick Campbell. “
According to a statement from Ford Motor Company, the Drive 4 UR School program began as a community fundraiser to help offset the continual budget cuts to vital arts, music and sports programs at schools across the country. The Zachary event is the Fourth one sponsored by Superior Ford, and they are encouraging all community members to come out and help the school take advantage of free funds. “It is not often that a school has the opportunity to receive $6,000 without having to sell something, but that is exactly what we are offering,” said Superior Ford’s General Manager Brian Guidry. For each test-drive, the school will receive $20. Dealership staff will be on hand to assist with the vehicles. The school needs 300 licensed drivers to make the goal. For more information, contact Sharron Ventura at 225266-4439.
The reaction was incredible as you can imagine. It was talked about and built upon and after months and months of blood sweat and tears the 2008 LA Night Jam came to be. With shorelines
packed out full of vendors, live entertainers, professional athletes, music, drinks and food the legendary LA Night Jam was officially born. Media

coverage came from local radio commercials and a live broad cast from the boat, local TV morning shows and cable TV commercials among many local outlets. After drawing a crowd of 4,000 general public spectators, and being the most successful stop on the MasterCraft Professional Waterski tour in 2008, LA Night Jam II in 2009 was above and beyond! Bringing in nearly 6,000 spectators and taking on over 70 sponsors, LA Night Jam III (2010) proved to be another huge hit in the Baton Rouge area - as was LA Night Jam IV that took place the next year. With a whole new show, new boats, new bands, and even some surprise appearances, LA Night Jam V is sure to be the most memorable night of the year. This years event will be held on September 28 at Bennett’s Waterski and Wakeboard School, and everyone is invited to attend.
