Dear Members, This Highlights edition is special for our club, as it is the first during the declared pandemic. It is especially exciting for me, as it is my first letter in which I get to announce all the positive things happening at our club…instead of having to cancel or restrict activities. Before you review the great upcoming activities our management team is planning, let us catch up on what has happened over the past few months. Construction is nearly over! With the irrigation project nearly wrapped up, the playground structure being erected, the parking lot finished, and the pool having never looked better, I can finally truly reflect on how amazing and proud of our club I am. This past week as I arrived for an early morning workout, I was taken aback by how stunning our club looks and how all the projects have come together so nicely. It is also with great pleasure that I can share with you that overall, we came in ON BUDGET! With the late addition of the parking lot and backyard expansion, we will be borrowing slightly more than anticipated, but overall, the Board and Union Bank are incredibly happy with where our club is financially after these Capital Improvements. With everything going on around us, it was already set to be an interesting year for our club, but even I am surprised at how we are holding up. We currently have no member promotions and we are host to over 580 families. This is amazing when you consider that just 4 years ago, we only had 450 families in our club. This growth, along with us keeping an active club, have contributed to a year which could go down as one of the more successful years in recent history. We are also happy to announce that our club has not experienced any internally spread cases of COVID-19 and everyone on our staff that previously tested positive has returned to work after fully recovering. We have updated and improved practices along the way and I happy to say that our staff are continuing to work hard to ensure you and your family are able to use the club safely. With these great successes it is clear to see why our team is so excited to look forward to these next couple months. We have put our heads together and decided how to enjoy some good old fashion fun and entertainment while keeping it safe and socially appropriate. Make sure to mark your calendars for some (or all) of these amazing activities our team is planning. If you have any questions about the projects or happenings around the club feel free to reach out and I’d gladly discuss them. Sincerely,
Zach Tyson

Dear Membership, Hey, it's me! Ya gurl - Becca - your friendly neighborhood Communications & Club Events Coordinator! After all these years editing a countless amount of these letters behind the scenes, by gosh I think it's only fair I get to write one for myself. And in doing so, I'd like to bring you some bittersweet news, which is that my time at Hillcrest is sadly coming to a close on August 8. (From this point on, please excuse any typos, as I may be typing with moist eyes...) Those of you who have been around for a while may have met me as a 19-year-old college student, as I began my very first ~real~ job here at Hillcrest as a banquet server in 2012. I still remember Zach Tyson interviewing me (he, also, in a fresh new position as the Assistant General Manager). We both still fondly reminisce on when he asked me to tell a fun fact about myself, which at the time was my greatest achievement: Being named by the Lincoln Journal Star as the Biggest Harry Potter Fan in Lincoln with my best friend. He definitely thought I was a bit of a quirky oddball. Little did I know that over the course of the next four years, I would stay at Hillcrest and move up in positions and work in nearly every service role the clubhouse had to offer. By the time I graduated college, I made a leap of bravery and moved away for a year to be a nanny in Ireland. Again, little did I know that when it was time to move back home, I would be asked to come back to Hillcrest in a new role: using that quirky personality of mine to take on the role of being "the face" of the club's social media, which evolved into managing all communications and marketing, and also attending every event to take photos, which lent itself well to then taking on the planning of all the club's events when we needed someone to step into that role as well...which I believe now gets us to today. (Phew.) My point in recounting all of this is to express how much Hillcrest has meant to me over the last eight years. (Oh no, here it comes...who's cutting onions in here?!) Hillcrest has given me some of the best memories of my life, amongst coworkers and members alike. I have been allowed to be myself, that quirky oddball with creativity and sass flowing for days. Many people have asked me what's always kept me here, and I have always replied the same: the people. I have met my best friends here. I met the love of my life here. And I've met all of you. Even though the job at hand could be difficult at times, what made it all worth it at the end of the day was having gotten to connect with all of you and having the honor of giving you and your family experiences and memories to treasure for years to come. You are all so special to me, and please know that if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be the woman I am proud to be today. So you may be wondering why the change? As many of you have notoriously pointed out to me, I work a lot, which is truthfully and simply the nature of the service industry. I have decided a change in lifestyle is necessary in order to spend more time with my loved ones, so I am excited to say I am getting back into my passion of nannying, which will allow me a greater ability to explore other paths in life. I'm excited to discover what the future holds! Of course, I would love to keep in touch with all of you, so I give you full permission to find and add me on social media! From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you again for all the wonderful memories you've granted me. I will cherish them forever. Now, let's leave this on a more lighthearted note - to commemorate my time at Hillcrest, please enjoy the seven Halloween costumes I put together for Hillcrest Halloween Extravaganza events, which, despite several of them being made from scratch, never won first place in the employee costume contest, which is the one thing I will forever be unapologetically bitter about. *insert me dropping the mic here* Best, "Ya Gurl" - Becca

Dear Members, Hillcrest is proud to have hosted the 53rd Nebraska State Match Play Championship this year on June 22-26. Brian Hellbusch and the Grounds & Greens staff had the golf course in premiere condition. This made for a memorable week and set the backdrop for a deep and talented field of players. Luke Cluver won his first NGA Championship defeating Ryan Neifelt 7&6 during the Friday final. Both players, along many other fellow competitors, had high praise for the layout of the golf course and set up of the event. Craig Ames, NGA Executive Director, felt it was the finest Match Play Championship in his memory. Congratulation to our Hillcrest Members who competed: Making the 32 Player Bracket: Roger Sack and Conner Vandewege. Qualifying Rounds: Spencer Hilsabeck made the 8 for 1 playoff on Tuesday evening. Doug Borer, Alex Gasper, Grant Johnson, Trevor Knuth, Mike Peterson & Alex Svehla all play well, but missed qualifying for the 32-player bracket. Bill Ashburn, NGA Board Member and longtime Hillcrest Member, served as the official starter for the Championship. Hillcrest has a proud history with the Match Play having hosted the event five times. Our members did not disappoint in their support of Nebraska amateur golf. Along with many members in the galleries, we had several who volunteered their time to ensure the players had fair chance to compete during these unusual times. We want to especially thank our grooming crew: HCC Board Members Lynn Knuth and Kyle Hershberger, in addition to members Gary & Debbie Dulgar, Clay Lewis, TJ & George Casady, Mike & Max Moss, Scott Barnhill, Mark Ogle, Jeff Breunig, Mark & Denise Iveland, Dale Roehrs, Rick Erickson, Bruce Snyder, Ira Zeff, KC & Parker Bunting, Bella & Miles Elgert, and Grace Lonowski. We could not hold these types of event without the help and support of our Hillcrest Membership. Thank you to all! Mike Brown

Hillcrest GOLF POLICIES FRIENDLY REMINDERS
You must check in with the golf staff before your round so we can ensure you and/or your guests are properly registered. When using a riding cart, members will need to receive a key from the golf shop staff. Also, please remember that you must have a valid driver's license to operate golf carts. The golf course opens for play at 8:00 AM on weekdays & 7:00 AM on weekends. You must have a tee time to begin play. Play is restricted before the first available tee time of the day. All golf rounds begin on the front nine unless otherwise announced. Starting your round on the back nine must first have approval from the Golf Shop staff. If you will not be using a reserved tee time, please inform the Golf Shop as soon as possible to ensure other members have an opportunity to play. Please remember to use the locker room facilities for changing into golf attire. A Social Membership affords a playing privilege a total of 6 times annually. These rounds are not transferrable and are considered redeemed if 9 or 18 holes have been played. A Social Member may rent the use of a riding cart. Reservations for play must be arranged by calling the Golf Shop at 402.489.8181. A playing guest may be hosted for golf a total of 6 times annually, and is inconsequential of the member hosting. This includes Men's Stags, Golf Breakfasts, and Ladies' Guest Events. All guest rounds must be registered in the Golf Shop and guest fees settled before play. The golf course and the practice facilities open at 12:00 PM on Mondays (when the club is not hosting an outside event). We do not allow golf or practice to begin before this time. The Board of Directors asks all members and their guests to observe this policy. It is in the best interest of our golf course to keep riding carts on cart paths near tees and greens. Minimizing unnecessary traffic in these high volume areas will help the grass remain strong during the heat of the summer. Remember to repair your ball marks on greens and, when time allows, one more. As a general rule, please leave rakes outside of the bunker. Hillcrest asks all golfers to NOT apply bug spray while on grass areas on the course. The chemicals used in these sprays will harm the turf. Dress Code
The dress code is in full effect May 1 through October 1. Golf attire is required if you are using the golf course or any practice facilities. All males must wear a shirt with sleeves. Shirts without collars must be suitable country club style. Males and females may wear shorts, as long as they are mid-thigh length. Jeans are not acceptable attire from May 1 through October 1. Razor cuts or torn jeans are never appropriate. Unacceptable dress includes t-shirts, tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, cutoff shorts, jogger shorts, gym wear, and swim trunks. Oversized and sloppy attire are not appropriate for a country club atmosphere. Everyone must wear shoes. Shoes with pronounced heels and cleated soles are prohibited on the golf course. Please remember to apply the tenets of good taste and remind their guests of the same. Shop Credit
In an effort to close our Golf Shop's end of year books and begin the 2021 season with new merchandise in the shop, Hillcrest has the following policy: Members holding Golf Shop credit must spend the credit by December 15, 2020. We will be offering special pricing on IN-STOCK merchandise only. Special order merchandise will be subject to regular retail pricing. Credit for special orders expire on September 30, 2020.

Dear Members, This first season for our beautiful new pool has turned out to be a busy one! We’ve had good attendance for our morning lap swimming, expanded water aerobics to two mornings per week, saw our group lessons participants increase by 50 percent, had our biggest diving team ever and had over 100 swimmers participate in swim team. Our dive team was able to host a fun meet with the Country Club of Lincoln, and the swimmers enjoyed an intrasquad meet that evening as well. Although the seasons looked a little different, I think everyone still had a good time, made some new friends and sharpened their skills! Congratulations to our Waterbug award winners: Sawyer Antholz, Dominic Bryant, Tinsley Perry, Rafael Razdan, Piper Lyons, Noah Newton, Tatum Lewis, Harry Dunder, Millie Andreasen and Carson Evans. I am so excited to watch the Dive Clinic on Friday, August 7th. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone wanting to get started in the sport, as well as for more experienced divers to learn from Coach Ann Neal of the Nebraska Diving Club and some elite divers. The pool season will be extended until September 27th, so we will continue to offer morning lap swimming and water aerobics. If you haven’t tried starting your day in the pool, you really should. Water exercise is so beneficial for both physical and mental health! Private swim lessons have been popular this summer. We offer lessons for both adults and children. If you are interested in preschool swim lessons, let me know, as those will start up in mid-August. I hope to see you all at the pool soon! Jeanette Keller Aquatics Director

Greetings, Here is a summary of our events/tournaments this tennis season. May limited the amount of players on the tennis courts to a maximum of 10 on the court, but it was good to be able to get outside and feel safe doing so. June started our first Junior Clinics session with having a good number of registrations, as well as an above average amount of adults beginning to learn how to play tennis. 4th of July Junior/Adult Mixed Doubles Tournament started off our July. Junior Team Tennis started and had a shorter season due to Covid-19 restrictions. Both teams competed hard and had a lot of fun/success during practices and meets. July 27th-31st started our Morning Tennis Camps as well as our High School Prep Camps. Both have had very good participation. August will feature Week 2 of Morning Tennis Camps and High School Prep Camps that follow in the afternoon. Our annual Hillcrest Junior Open will be held August 8th & 9th. August 24th will kick off the first session of fall tennis at Hillcrest. In September I am excited to announce that we will be getting our courts resurfaced during one week!
