FROM THE PRO’S PERSPECTIVE This is an appropriate time to remind members of our policies as to help make golfing at Hillcrest a more enjoyable experience. Beginning in May, our summer dress code policy will be in effect. Note, that the dress code must be followed while using the golf course and all practice areas. Please see the full policy in this edition of The Highlights. We also encourage you to check in with the golf staff before your round, so we can ensure you and/or your guests are properly registered. All golf rounds will begin on the front nine unless otherwise announced. Starting your round on the back nine must first have approval from the golf shop staff. To ensure a good pace of play and no backups on the turn, we encourage golfers to make the turn from Hole 9 to 10 without stopping at the Clubhouse unless necessary. Hole 12 is open and has bathrooms available. Furthermore, if you will not be using a reserved tee time, please inform the golf shop as soon as possible to ensure other members have an opportunity to play. Thank you in advance for adhering to these important policies. Our men’s and women’s member-member tournaments will be played in May. We are currently signing-up teams for these events. Please see the ads in this edition of the Highlights. Women’s Solheim Cup: Saturday & Sunday, May 21-22. Shotgun start at 1:00 P.M. (both days) Men’s Bunny Richards Memorial Member-Member: Friday & Saturday, May 27-28 Friday’s round will be tee times from 8 AM until 2 PM. Players may call the golf shop to make a reservation for Friday’s round. Please coordinate with another playing group to make a foursome for your Friday reservation. Saturday will be a shotgun start at 10:00 A.M. (re-paired within the flight) Hillcrest is thrilled once again to be a local qualifying site for The National Drive Chip and Putt Championship on June 11th. The finals will be held at The Augusta National Golf Club in April of 2023. This is a great opportunity for local juniors as well as our very own Hillcrest junior golfers to compete in this fun and rewarding event. For more details or to register, please visit www.drivechipandputt.com or the Hillcrest webpage to see the ad. The Nebraska PGA will be on-site operating the Drive Chip & Putt qualifier. The PGA has asked for volunteers from Hillcrest to help on the day of the competition. If you are interested in being a volunteer for this special day, please contact Mike at 402-489-8181. The Drive Chip and Putt competition will be using the driving range and large practice green. The golf course will still be available for regular member play.
Sincerely, Mike Brown

Hello Members! As we approach the official start of summer, I wanted to take this time to thank you all for your passion and commitment to all the Racquet & Fitness events we have held so far. We have seen some crazy accomplishments attained on the fitness side– with members crushing challenges to setting new personal records! On the tennis side, I am thrilled to say that we doubled our overall attendance numbers for the Junior Tennis Spring Session from last year. I have enjoyed every moment of 2022 so far and look forward to carrying this momentum into the summer! We will be hosting many events this summer and I would like to take the time to highlight a few: Junior Tennis programs will be held in two sessions for tennis players ages 4-18. Classes are engaging, fun, and sure to develop the skillsets needed to grow into a competitive tennis player. Please mark your calendars for: Summer Tennis Session 1, June 7- June 30 Summer Tennis Session 2, July 5- July 28 Alongside regular tennis programs, our Junior players can look forward to trying out their games during tournament match-play events sanctioned by the UTR. These events are for players 11 and up (unless given special permission by the tournament director). Junior Singles UTR Tournament– June 4 Junior Singles UTR Tournament– July 9 Get ready for high school tennis tryouts by joining us in August for our Last Hurrah Tennis Camp! JV & Varsity (11 and up)– August 1- August 4 Our adult players can participate in a litany of events throughout the summer. Here are some to list a few: Tennis 101: An introductory class that takes place on Monday evenings 6-7 pm in the month of May. This is a great opportunity to learn how to play in a relaxed and fun environment! Stop losing to your 9-year-old, and register today! Hit & Run: A fan favorite amongst adult players of all ability levels. Hit & Run format promises fun, ball striking, point play, and laughs. We guarantee maximum reps in a point-style format. There are no winners or losers, just a lot of sweat and cheers. Tuesday/Wednesday 6-7 pm, Friday 11 am-12 pm. The 2nd Annual Crack One Open Tournament: Our vision is to create a renowned start of the summer tournament for HCC every year. With the massive success last year, I am certain that this tournament will start to make noise all across Lincoln. The format will be a double elimination doubles tournament. The entry fee includes a commemorative Hillcrest koozie to help keep your beverage cool between matches. Guests are welcome to attend with a guest fee applied upon registration. Grab snacks and adult beverages between your matches. May 28th, registration open soon. Pickleball Mondays: Come out for complementary organized match-play on Monday evenings. All players and ability levels are welcome. This will be a relaxed atmosphere of doubles and fun. Play begins Monday evenings at 7 pm on May 16th. Adult Doubles UTR sanctioned doubles tournaments– June 18 & July 30 Adult Mixers– a variety of themed events featured throughout the summer Keep an eye out for more pop-up Racquet & Fitness events. I look forward to all the summer shenanigans to come. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any of your Racquet & Fitness needs. Cheers, Maria Mota Racquet & Fitness Director mmota@hillcrestcountryclub.com
