Dear Membership, I regularly tell people that it is a great time to be a member of Hillcrest Country Club and always feel like it’s true…now I have members telling me I’m right! It was only one month ago that the Board of Directors announced the new capital campaign to renovate our irrigation system and redesign our backyard pool area. We set a lofty goal of raising $700K by January 31st, 2019. Our membership supported this venture and took it to the next level. As of today, we have committed funding of $1.2M (this was the total goal for the entire project). This means it truly is a great time to be a part of Hillcrest Country Club. The amazing part about this achievement is the fact that these capital projects are 27 years in the making and wouldn’t have been made possible without some key figures who were instrumental in planning and fundraising process. Each of the partners below were given the same directive our Board of Directors shares: We are a member-run club and everything we do must be done with the best interest of the members in mind. When our Board of Directors needed expert opinions on the best route to take to ensure our irrigation project came in on a budget and on our timeline, we hired an expert in the field to be our partner. Erik Christiansen with EC Design Group, Ltd. has done a fantastic job of designing our irrigation system and leading us through the process of making sure our entire membership should be proud of the process and product. Eleven years ago, a highly regarded and historic member, Dick Bjorklund, was having a discussion I overheard (reminder – I was a nosey server back then) regarding the fact that the pool was going to be the biggest challenge this club would face…he might have been right! That is why over the past five years our Board of Directors partnered with Olsson and Associates, Clark Enersen Partners, New Wave Pools and Spas, Inc., and BIC to make sure every decision we made was backed and supported by a team of experts. We mustn’t forget what drives this whole project: financial assistance. For years Union Bank and Trust has supported our projects and had HCC’s best interest in mind. We are proud to have such a great partner in Union Bank and Trust. In 1943, our club’s founding fathers formed East O Realty to ensure the club continued to be a place families could enjoy for years to come. The East O Board has always acted as a watchful Board to ensure this club continues to thrive for years to come. Without their support, oversight and leadership on this project, it wouldn’t have gotten off the ground. With these great supporting partners, our Board of Directors is beginning the next phase of these Capital Projects. We will keep you all updated through emails and Highlights! I hope you are all as excited as I am to be a part of Hillcrest Country Club.

Because of this, we will currently only be releasing a calendar for January - June. We will send the second half of the calendar closer to the summer after our project details and schedule are solidified. Thank you for your understanding.

MEET KYLA, OUR NEW FOOD & BEVERAGE DIRECTOR! Hello, Members! To those of you I have already met, it has been a pleasure. To those of you I have not had the chance to meet, I would like to introduce myself: My name is Kyla Bayne. I am originally from small town Western Nebraska (Mitchell, to be specific) and I moved to Lincoln to pursue an education at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management in May of 2015. I have made Lincoln my “home,” and so has my family. I have two sisters: a twin sister, who is also in the hospitality field, and a younger sister, who works as a customer relations representative at Spreetail. Our parents decided to migrate this way as well, so that our family could be close and complete. My mother is the Registrar for Peru State College, while my father works for Midwest Cooperative. I believe that spending time with family is what makes your heart truly full. I enjoy spending time with them, going on adventures, and trying new things. My career path has been widespread over the course of the last 5 years, as well. I started my career as the traveling manager for Chili’s Grill and Bar. I decided to move on to join Hiro 88 as the Assistant General Manager in 2016. I was fortunate enough to grow with their company and move into the General Manager role for the Haymarket and South Lincoln locations. When the opportunity arose to join Hillcrest as the Director of Food and Beverage, I was ecstatic for the chance to grow and develop an already spectacular program. Over the course of the last few months that I have been here, I have been able to develop a more streamlined plan for our Wine Lockers as well as taking the time to build our Wine Society and develop a rounded beverage program. My goals are to tackle the training of team members to help them grow to understand the love for food and beverage, as well as the love for the hospitality industry. This will be accomplished by spending time developing a training program that allows for growth and movement, which will make the food and beverage program here at our club exceptional. If there are any questions that you may have for me, please do not hesitate to ask! Thank you for welcoming me to your Hillcrest Family. I look forward to what the future holds!
