Dear Hillcrest Members,

General Manager Andy Reetz

With the summer season beginning to wind down your, Board of Directors remind you that the fall season is one of the best times to enjoy Hillcrest Country Club. Autumn is usually a time when families put away their swim suits, store their golf clubs and move their tennis indoors, however there are still many social and golf activities to choose from as you plan your fall calendars. Before we can enjoy the wonderful fall weather and the beauty of the changing seasons there is some serious work to be done to the golf course. The course and clubhouse will be closed on September 2nd and 3rd for course work and aeration. The facilities will re-open on the 4th but expect conditions on the course to reflect the aeration in progress and the workers on the course. As you take a look at the following pages throughout the Highlights please make note of all the wonderful social opportunities that Kim Cotton (Clubhouse Manager) and Ryan Eusterwiemann (Executive Chef) have created. Here are a few social highlights:      

Labor Day (Back to School Party) Hillcrest Family Nights Progressive 9 Dinner Legacy Dinner Halloween Party Thanksgiving Brunch

These events, coupled with the board of directors vision of maximizing the benefits of your membership, truly make hillcrest the place for you to enjoy your leisure hours and build lasting friendships. Please continue to promote hillcrest to individuals that you feel may have an interest in joining our club. The continued growth of our club can only happen with your help. Sincerely,

Andy Reetz General Manager Hillcrest Country Club

Director of Golf Mike Brown

The 2014 Championship Weekend at Hillcrest did not disappoint! Mike Peterson claimed a hard fought match against a surging Chris Ober to win the Men’s Club Tournament. Peterson needed a 20-hole match in the final to hold off Ober. Both their play showed why they made the finals. We had great matches throughout the tournament. Please see the results in this edition of the Highlights. Kelsey Marshall wins the Ladies Club Championship with steady play and scores of 83 – 82. Julie Robinson made it interesting finishing 2nd overall with rounds of 85-84. Maureen Hake defended her Masters Division title with scores of net 73-71. Congratulations to our Champions! The Husband-Wife teams converged on Hillcrest in great numbers again this year. We had another down to the wire contest. Jack and Mary Russell won a scorecard playoff to edge out Scott and Shari Barnhill. Both teams played fantastic, shooting 64’s respectively. The Junior Program wrapped up in August with the skills competition and awards luncheon. Many of our juniors showed great improvement with their golf swings and short game skills. 100 plus juniors participated in many golf opportunities during the summer. Steven Strasheim broke through this summer and claimed his first Junior Club Championship. Steven has worked extensively at his game over the last few years and we look forward to the great things that await him in golf. Congratulation to Alaina Lewis and Tommy Noel for winning the Girls and Boys nine hole divisions in our Junior Club Championship. Ross Gamet and his father Scott won the Parent-Youth Tournament, and Quinton Adams was the Junior Golf Sportsmanship Award winner. Please see more about the Junior Program results in this Highlight’s issue. With many great golfing months remaining this season, please consider some of the fun membership events scheduled for September and October. Best in Golf,

Mike Brown Director of Golf

TEAM GOLF The Nebraska PGA introduced TEAM GOLF this year and we had 10 juniors that played for our Hilcrest Hornets. This was a great success for our juniors and they really improved throughout the season. This was a great opportunity for our juniors to not only learn the game of golf, but participate in a team sport. I feel team golf will only continue to grow and be a huge success for years to come. I would like to congratulate the following juniors who competed in TEAM GOLF this year:

Grady Arndt Leyton Peters

Kaitlyn Dumler Joel Tetrick Scott Nolte Eli Vyhlidal

Keeton Peters Luke Draper

Cooper Green Grace Draper

For those who did not participate and would like to next season please contact the golf shop and we will get you signed up. Great job this season and I’m looking forward to next season. \

Dear Members, It’s been another great season for the Waterbugs. Our swimmers set 11 of the 16 new records this year at our Championship Meet. They won 42 of the 78 events. They brought home the team title for the fifth year in a row. The Waterbugs sure made Hillcrest proud this year! We are so lucky to have so many 15-18 year old swimmers; not only are they fun to watch compete, but they are good role models for their younger teammates. Our parents and families are the best in the league – we love your dedication and support for the team! Thank you for all that you do to help make our program special. Mark your calendars – the 2015 Championship Meet will be Monday, July 13th (location to be determined). Congratulations to former waterbug, Caroline Theil, for qualifying again for Junior Nationals in Irvine, California. Also, congratulations to Olivia Theil and Eli Vyhlidal for qualifying for the Zone meet! If you have a swimmer interested in joining the swim team next summer, keep in mind that they should have either passed our Level 3 group lessons, or they can swim 25 yards of the pool at the beginning of the season. If you missed the banquet, we still have awards from the season in Teencrest, as well as team pictures and Banquet DVDs. We hope to see you for the End of Summer Bash on September 1st!
