Career Day Expo inspires the little learners to start dream about jobs

A mass funeral was held at the Tshixwadza Sports Grounds on Saturday, 10 September, for five of the 10 people who died in the horror crash near Polokwane on 6 September this year.

Ms Polly Boshielo, who also attended the funeral service in Tshixwadza on Saturday, conveyed her deepest condo lences to the families. “I was on my way to the sitting of the Limpopo legislature on the morning of 6 September, when I received a message informing me of the terrible accident next to the Mall of the North in Polokwane. I rushed there and came upon the horrible scene,” Boshielo said.

Reggae music legend Shufflers Ragimana was also devastated by the news of Ali K’s death. He remembers how Ali K contributed to his own music career. “He ventured into the music industry when things were still difficult but, because of his hard work, he persevered until he became successful. Ali K was one of the first local musicians to own a keyboard and he used to come for rehearsals at Nndweleni Mankhili (his nephew)’s house at Makonde village, where I also live, because during that time, there was no electricity yet at his home village of Tshandama. This is not the time to create more problems for people, especially when we are faced with so many social challenges, including unemployment,” the artist said.

The Dr Tshenuwani Fari sani Development Founda tion was launched on Sat urday, September 10. The occasion coincided with Dr Farisani’s 75th birthday celebration, which was held at the Lutheran Church of South Africa’s conference centre in Thohoyandou Block F.

According to one of the organisers of the event, Mr Kenny Mathivha, they wanted to celebrate the life of Dr Fari sani and honour him while he was still alive. The school principal, Ms Nancy Mapikule, said she was honoured to have the Keep it Cool for Climate Change pro gramme initiated at her school.

A week later, we received a call from the artist in question, who had read the story about himself in the newspaper, asking where we got our infor mation from. It became evident that the man who had claimed to be his manager was nothing of the sort.

From WhatsApp conversa tions made available to this newspaper, one can clearly see how this fraudster tried to convince one artist to pay for publicity in the newspaper, which the artist never got in theTheend.reporter confronted one of these scammers, telling him that what he was doing was wrong as the Limpopo Mirror does not charge any fee for such publicity and warning him that we would report the matter to the police if he continued, for

Dr Bernard Nthambeleni, the vice-rector of the Univer sity of Venda, confirmed that a committee was looking into a proposal that was submitted to honour Dr Farisani with a degree in appreciation of the contribution he made in the fight for freedom in the country.

Limpopo Mirror does not charge artists for newswor thy stories as this is part of the newspaper’s commitment to promoting our local artists.

Two weeks ago, the Limpopo Mirror was contacted by a man who claimed to be the manager of a certain up-and-coming artist from the area, and asked the reporter to do a story on the artist. He provided the reporter with information and the story was published.

After beating Rambuda Young Fighters 7-6 at the same grounds last Sunday, whether Mulodi Freedom Birds will have enough strength to push the stubborn Tshimuthe FC out of the pres tigious competition remains to be seen.

Maindis and Vasco da Gama in league clash

The players who gave the Leop ards defence a terrible headache were Rodney Maphangule and Khuda Myeba. Myeba beat the offside trap and ran straight to the opponents´ keeper, Jobe Modou, and sent him the wrong way. The goal prompted more attempts from City, who invaded their op ponents´ goal area on numerous occasions.TheThohoyandou outfit was unfortunate when Tiklas Thutl wa’s shot hit the post with the City keeper, Lindikhuhle Mathebula, well-beaten.

Zwaloni will be lucky if by chance they do not concede more than three goals in the game. Madridtas have been winning everything at stake ever since they were crowned the champions of the Vhembe Super Cup at the Thohoyandou Stadium early last month. Madridtas beat Ma konde Home Defenders 2-0 to book a place in the quarter-final stage. Zwaloni shocked the local soccer fraternity when they beat Phandulaluvalo FC 4-3 last Saturday.Thelast

shootout as the score was 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Freedom Birds will pin their hopes on Rofhiwa Siala and Khuliso Mafanedza for goals.

Leopards lost cohesion in the middle of the park after the goal. Thabang Matuludi scored his team’s second goal and sent the keeper the wrong way after beating the offside trap in the 76th minute.Citygradually took command of the game, in search of another goal. The pressure increased on the Leopards defenders, who con tinuously made mistakes.

Mulodi Freedom Birds came back from a 0-1 deficit to beat Rambuda Young Fighters 7-6 in their Nwali Soc cer Challenge KO Competition game that was played at the Khubvi Benjie’s Grounds on Sunday.

After a break of about two weeks, the teams affiliated to the Hollywoodbets Super League will resume playing this week end. Maindis Ladies are bracing themselves for a tricky hurdle against Vasco da Gama Ladies, whom they will host at the Giyani Stadium on Saturday.

to their striking force, Young Fighters committed a blunder by keeping only two players at the front. Although they managed to create numerous scoring chances in the first half, they could make only one of them count. They took the lead in the 26th minute when Tsim be Thomoli headed home, following a scramble within the box.

Tshimuthe’s way to the quarter-final round went via Thengwe Flying Peace, whom they managed to beat 5-4 at the same venue last Saturday. The winner was determined through a penalty

Leopards created several prom ising moves from behind in the opening minutes, but their strikers let them down by shooting aim lessly. Their overlapping midfield er, Bethuel Muzeu, had his chance in the 10th minute. He received a good pass from Donald Makgetl wa but shot wide from just outside theShortlybox. after this, City’s striker, Puleng Marema, tried his luck from the edge of the box. The technical staff of Freedom Birds revealed their wisdom by effecting two changes earlier in the last half. They replaced Ampfarisaho Mugwedi and Rilinde Nemudzivhadi, who paved the way for Phathutshedzo Mudau and Kenneth Mahore respectively.

Asked about their level of readi ness for the game, the head coach of Maindis Ladies, Mr Sipho Mabu za, was quick to mention that the players were in the right frame of mind after collecting the maximum points in their last match. They beat Coal City Wizards 3-2 at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni and moved two steps up on the log standings.

Just like Black Leopards, things are not going according to plan in the Baroka camp. The Polokwane side managed to collect only one point in their first two matches. They lost 1-2 to Uthongathi in their opening match before sharing the spoils with Cape Town All Stars, with whom they had played to a goalless draw at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Saturday.

Masutha is optimistic that they will collect the maximum points at the expense of Baroka and restore the team’s lost pride. Black Leopards’ head coach, Mr Joel Masutha, is still battling to find a winning combination. As usual, his team had started the new season on a sad note. Lidoda duvha were beaten 0-1 by Hun gry Lions in their opening league match at the Malamulele Stadium two weeks ago. As if that was not enough to irritate the team’s enthusiastic supporters, the Thohoyandou side were brutally walloped 0-3 by Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Saturday.

Baroka had played their third home match in a row on Wednesday afternoon. They hosted Pretoria Callies at the same venue. The result of the match was not yet available at the time of our going to print.

for an ugly tackle on Puleng Marema. Their 1-0 victory over City Rovers was not a true reflection of the game. The Thohoyandou side had enjoyed more ball possession throughout the game. The visitors from Potchefstroom had their only chance in the 15th minute when their left winger, Trevor Lamola, went loose from what was arguably an offside position and shot wide from close range. Their centre back, Richard Mofokeng, was the first player to go into the referee’s book. He tackled Banele Gama from behind in the 26th minute and the referee, Mr Moses Kheswa, was quick to flash yellow.
