A Peek Inside My Brain

Balancing Motherhood, Business, and Creativity

Have you ever wondered how some people manage to do it all? How they balance raising children, running a business, and pursuing their passions?

It’s a question I’ve been asked often lately, especially by the incredible women I’ve had the pleasure of meeting through my work.

“How do you raise young kids while running your own business, creating art daily, managing Women & Business Magazine, and co-hosting the What’s Your Superpower? podcast?”

My answer? It’s surprisingly “easy” because creating art is like air to me. It’s not just a profession or a passion — it’s a way of life.

I’ve been fortunate to combine my artistic background with my business acumen. With a BA in economics, I’m as passionate about entrepreneurship as I am about art and fashion. For me, these worlds are not separate; they’re deeply intertwined.

There’s no such thing as a strict “work-life balance” in my world. When you’re an artist, creativity doesn’t follow a nine-to-five schedule. It’s a 24-hour mindset. It’s the way I see the world, the way I connect with others, and even the way I parent.

Raising children while living a creative life is an adventure filled with magic. My kids experience this magic every day, whether it’s through how we approach problem-solving, explore the world, or simply spend time together. Creativity isn’t just something I do; it’s part of how I parent.

Art, for me, is self-care. It’s not “work” — it’s how I recharge, how I express myself, and how I connect with others. Every photoshoot, podcast episode, and magazine feature is a chance to create something meaningful, not just for me, but for the people I work with and the audiences we reach.

I adore what I do, and that passion fuels everything — from my business to my family life. It’s not always easy, and it’s certainly not perfect, but it’s mine.

To all the women out there juggling multiple roles: remember that your passions can fuel you, too. Creativity, no matter how it looks for you, can be a powerful force for balance and fulfillment.

What about you? How do you bring your passions into your daily life? Share your story with us — we’d love to hear it!

FROM FASHION TO WINE A Journey of Creativity and Reinvention with

Heidi Nigen

From photographing major campaigns for Target in the 1990s to managing logistics and marketing in California’s wine industry, Heidi has mastered the art of career reinvention. In this interview, she reflects on lessons from her fashion photography days, the challenges of transitioning industries, and how creativity remains her driving force. Her story is an inspiring guide for women embracing bold career changes.

Reflecting on your time as a fashion photographer in the 90s, what was it like working with major brands like Target and model agencies in Minnesota? What lessons from that era still influence your approach to work today?

Fashion photography in Minnesota during the 1990s centered around Minneapolis, with Target's headquarters driving significant commercial work. The state's varied landscapes, from urban settings to lakes, provided diverse backdrops for photographers in addition to in-studio photography.

Target's influence helped establish Minneapolis as a significant market for commercial fashion photography outside the major coastal cities.

Key photographers who worked in the area often shot for both national retailers and local boutiques like Dayton's department store. The scene was known for a more natural, Midwestern aesthetic compared to the high fashion looks coming out of New York and LA at the time.

These practices helped establish more practical, commercial-focused photography techniques that remain relevant in today's digital era.

When you moved to the Bay Area and transitioned into the wine industry, what inspired such a significant career change? How did your creative background as a photographer shape your approach to marketing and logistics?

When I moved to the Bay Area, my original goal was to remain in the photography industry. However, breaking into the tight-knit photography community in San Francisco was a challenge. I had hoped to work at the in-house photography studio at Gap's Corporate Headquarters but ended up in a marketing role, which helped launch oldnavy.com.

Career transitions between photography and wine often stem from transferable skills like visual aesthetics, attention to detail, and client relationships. Photography skills prove valuable in wine marketing and documentation. Both industries require deep technical knowledge while maintaining creativity. The Bay Area's proximity to wine country makes it a natural location for this career pivot.

As someone who has succeeded in two vastly different industries, what challenges did you face in adapting to the wine business, and how did you overcome them?

Professionals often face several key challenges when transitioning from photography to wine: mastering complex wine terminology, varietals, and production methods while building new industry relationships and establishing credibility. They must adapt their business skills to different sales cycles and margins and understand strict industry regulations and licensing requirements. Many successfully bridge this gap by leveraging their photography skills in wine marketing while pursuing formal wine education through various certifications.

What parallels do you see between your work in fashion photography and your roles in marketing and logistics at the winery? How do you bring creativity into a role like logistics management?

Fashion operates on seasonal collections and changing trends, while wineries work with annual harvest cycles and vintage variations. Both industries must plan far in advance while staying flexible enough to adapt to changing conditions. The timing of marketing campaigns often aligns with these natural cycles.

When supply chain issues arise, creative thinking becomes crucial. A creative logistics manager might develop alternative transportation routes, find unexpected local suppliers, or repurpose existing resources in novel ways to maintain operations.

Bringing creativity to environmental challenges might involve designing new packaging solutions that reduce waste, optimizing delivery routes to lower emissions, or finding innovative ways to repurpose shipping materials.

What advice would you give to women considering bold career transitions, especially those moving from creative fields to more operational or corporate roles?

Maintain Your Creative Identity: You don't have to abandon your creative mindset in an operational role. Look for opportunities to bring creative approaches to problemsolving and innovation in your new position. This unique combination can help you stand out and add distinctive value.

Find or Create a Support Network: Connect with other women who have made similar transitions. Their experiences can provide valuable insights and emotional support. Consider joining professional organizations or finding a mentor who understands both worlds.

UNLOCKING POTENTIAL

Leadership coach and entrepreneur

Arrezo Azim is on a mission to empower individuals to embrace their full potential and lead with confidence. Drawing from her own transformative journey as a business leader, she has built a career centered

on self-awareness, resilience, and authentic connections. In this inspiring interview, Arrezo shares her insights on overcoming challenges, the importance of mindset, and the power of meaningful networking in shaping successful careers.

Arrezo Azim on Authentic Leadership and Empowerment

What inspired you to pursue a career as a leadership coach, and how has your journey shaped the way you empower others?

My inspiration to pursue leadership coaching came from a deep desire to help individuals break through their self-imposed limitations and unlock their full potential. Having spent years growing my own business, I recognized the power of mindset and authentic leadership in achieving success. This journey has shaped the way I empower others by focusing on self-awareness, positive psychology, and practical strategies for growth, helping my clients lead with confidence and resilience.

In your experience, what are the key challenges women face in leadership roles, and how can they overcome them to thrive in business?

One of the key challenges women face in leadership is navigating the balance between assertiveness and likability. Many women feel pressure to prove themselves, often to the point of burnout, while also trying to maintain harmony in their relationships. Overcoming this involves developing emotional intelligence, setting clear boundaries, and embracing a leadership style that values both their unique strengths and the value of collaboration. Encouraging women to step into their authentic leadership roles with confidence can unlock limitless potential.

What role does networking play in building successful careers, and how do you help your clients create meaningful connections?

Networking plays an integral role in building successful careers, not just for job opportunities but for mentorship, collaboration, and visibility. I encourage my clients to approach networking with an authentic, relationshipbuilding mindset, rather than seeing it as transactional. By focusing on shared values, mutual support, and long-term connections, they can cultivate a network that propels both personal and professional growth.

Can you share a success story from your coaching practice that highlights the importance of personal growth and resilience in business?

One client, a high-achieving entrepreneur, came to me feeling stuck in her business despite her impressive track record. Through coaching, we identified areas where self-doubt and perfectionism were holding her back. By focusing on mindset shifts, embracing vulnerability, and learning to trust her intuition, she was able to scale her business significantly and lead with greater confidence. This transformation underscored the importance of resilience and the power of self-belief in overcoming obstacles.

What do you hope attendees will gain from the networking events for leaders you organize with our cofounder Anna?

I hope attendees will walk away with a deeper understanding of how to build meaningful, authentic relationships that go beyond surface-level networking. Our goal is to create an environment where leaders can exchange ideas, share challenges, and support each other’s growth. I want them to leave feeling more empowered, connected, and equipped to take their leadership to the next level.

Cold weather and dry indoor air from heating can take a toll on your skin. That’s why it’s essential to follow a skincare routine that focuses on hydration and nourishment while protecting against external environmental factors.

Cleansing Start your morning and evening routine with a gentle, hydrating cleanser that doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oils. Avoid harsh cleansers and alcohol-based products, as they can damage your skin’s protective barrier. Use lukewarm water instead of hot water to prevent further dryness.

Exfoliation Once or twice a week, use a gentle chemical exfoliant (like AHA or PHA-based products) to remove dead skin cells and encourage skin renewal. Avoid physical scrubs, as they can irritate your skin, especially during the winter.

Toning After cleansing, apply an alcohol-free toner to restore your skin’s natural pH balance while providing hydration and soothing properties. Look for products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, aloe vera, or panthenol.

Moisturizing Hydration is the cornerstone of a winter skincare routine. Morning: Use a lightweight but nourishing moisturizer with ceramides, peptides, or plant oils (like jojoba or argan oil). In the evening opt for a richer night cream or balm that deeply nourishes and regenerates your skin overnight. For extra hydration, incorporate a hyaluronic acid-based serum into your routine.

Sunscreen Sunscreen is essential even in winter, especially if you’re around snow, which reflects UV rays. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen every morning, even on overcast days. Choose a formula that also provides hydration.

Daytime Hydration:

Use a nourishing lip balm containing beeswax, shea butter, vitamin E, or natural oils (like coconut or almond oil). Opt for a balm with SPF to protect against UV rays.

Nighttime Repair:

Apply a thick layer of a rich lip treatment or pure petroleum jelly before bed to lock in moisture and support overnight repair.

Gentle Exfoliation:

Exfoliate your lips weekly using a natural lip scrub (e.g., a mix of honey and sugar) or a soft toothbrush to remove dead skin cells.

Avoid Lip Licking: Resist the urge to lick your lips in the cold, as this leads to more dryness. Keep a lip balm handy instead.

Moisturize After Washing: Use a nourishing hand cream after every wash. Choose products rich in glycerin, shea butter, or almond oil for long-lasting protection.

1

Nighttime Treatment: Apply a thick layer of hand cream or a hand mask before bed and wear cotton gloves to enhance absorption and deeply hydrate dry areas.

Choose Hydrating Sanitizers: If using hand sanitizer, select one with moisturizing ingredients to counteract the drying effects of alcohol.

4

Weekly Pampering: Treat your hands to a spa-like treatment by exfoliating with a scrub (e.g., a mix of sugar and olive oil), applying a rich cream, and wrapping them in a warm towel for a few minutes to restore softness.

5

Wear Gloves Outdoors: Protect your hands from the cold with warm gloves, preferably made of natural materials to prevent irritation and cracking. 3

THE NEW CHAPTER

By Andrea Vujosević

Life has a way of surprising us. By the time we hit our 40s or 50s, many of us believe our paths are set. Careers, relationships, and routines may seem locked in place, and the thought of starting over can feel overwhelming. But what if this chapter isn't the end but the beginning of something extraordinary?

That’s exactly what happened to me, and it could happen to you too.

When I moved to Austria, I had no job and no knowledge of the language. It felt overwhelming at first, but that move turned out to be the start of a new era in my life — one filled with love, purpose, and a renewed sense of s

I decided to create something deeply personal and meaningful: a. work with love. This isn’t just a business; it’s a concept — a way of approaching work with mindfulness, limited stress, and an open heart. It’s about reconnecting with the things that truly matter, which we so often overlook in the rush of life.

This initiative is dedicated to supporting women in their business journeys. Whether you’re starting fresh in your 40s or 50s, exploring a new career, or finally designing a life that aligns with your values, I want to be your starting point.

Starting over isn’t a step back; it’s a leap forward into the life you were meant to live.

Society may encourage slowing down, but a growing wave of women in Europe and the USA are rewriting the narrative, showing that this stage of life is the perfect time to lean into passion and purpose. They’re embracing the concept of "work with love," prioritizing meaningful contributions, personal fulfillment, and redefining success on their own terms.

A Labor of Love: Starting Again with Purpose

Reinvention in business after 50 isn’t just about earning income; it’s about building something meaningful. Many women over 50 find themselves seeking careers that align with their values and passions. Whether driven by the desire to leave a legacy, fulfill long-held dreams, or simply make a difference, these women are proof that it’s never too late to begin again.

Data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) report highlights this trend, showing that the number of women aged 55-64 starting businesses in the USA has increased by 15% in the past five years. Similarly, in Europe, older women are turning hobbies into thriving enterprises, often in sectors like wellness, artisan crafts, and consultancy—areas rooted in personal passion.

Life Experience: The Ultimate Advantage

Unlike their younger counterparts, women 50+ often bring a wealth of experience, resilience, and self-awareness to the table. They have weathered challenges, adapted to change, and developed emotional intelligence—skills essential for entrepreneurship.

These women also bring a strong network, often cultivated over decades. Relationships built over time can open doors, whether through partnerships, mentorship, or access to potential clients. Their ability to anticipate risks and problem-solve quickly often stems from years of experience handling complex situations, making them exceptional leaders.

These women are often more self-aware and less afraid of failure. Their ability to approach obstacles with perspective and grace is what sets them apart.

Technology: Turning Intimidation into Empowerment

For many women over 50, embracing technology is a key part of their reinvention journey.

Though daunting at first, digital tools are proving to be powerful allies. From e-commerce platforms to social media marketing, technology enables these women to scale their businesses globally.

Research from The Boston Consulting Group found that female entrepreneurs aged 50+ who actively embrace technology experience faster growth and higher customer satisfaction than their counterparts

Inspiration for the Future

Of course, the path isn’t without its hurdles. Ageism, financial constraints, and balancing personal responsibilities remain challenges for many. Women often encounter skepticism from investors or clients who question their ability to keep up with modern trends. Yet, these setbacks only fuel their determination.

For women considering starting over, the message is simple: your experience is your superpower, and it’s never too late to create something extraordinary. Begin with small steps, stay curious, and surround yourself with supportive networks. Organizations like the Cherie Blair Foundation and Encore.org are excellent resources for older entrepreneurs seeking mentorship and guidance.

Women over 50 are proving that the best chapters of life are still unwritten. By embracing reinvention with love and purpose, they’re not only transforming their own lives but inspiring generations to come. So embrace your journey, challenges and all. Use your voice, take advantage of opportunities, and transform negativity into positive action.

As Arianna Huffington famously said, “Fearlessness is not the absence of fear, but the mastery of it.” With courage, wisdom, and a passion for meaningful work, the second act can be a masterpiece.

So, take that first step. Embrace the unknown with courage and confidence. This is your time to shine, to grow, and to live a life that’s unapologetically yours. After all, the best chapters of your story are still unwritten.

THE ART AND SCIENCE OF PRICING

Pricing is one of the most critical aspects of running a successful business. It goes beyond merely setting numbers — pricing encapsulates your brand's identity, quality, and competitive positioning. This article explores key technical foundations and the necessary mindset shifts for effective pricing strategies. Namely, societal norms and personal barriers can make this process daunting and there are also some technicalities that need clarifying.

Why is pricing crucial?

Two words: stability and positioning

A well-crafted pricing strategy ensures both short-term profitability and long-term viability. Proper pricing covers essential business costs, such as marketing, labor, tools, and future investments.

Pricing shapes how customers perceive your product or service. Premium pricing signals uniqueness and quality, while lower prices might communicate cost-efficiency. Striking the right balance ensures your pricing reflects your brand’s values and resonates with your target audience.

How to do it strategically?

Step #1 Understand Your Current Position

Just like with everything else in life, the first step toward change is realising where we stand.

Does your business have enough revenue to cover the costs and ensure profit? Do you have a sustainable and healthy cashflow? Do your prices reflect the value of your offers and the quality of your delivery?

If not, you may want to consider raising your prices. According to the value and quality of the services offered.

Namely, low prices eventually lead not only to destabilised company but to long term burnout as well. You start resenting your clients because they are not “grateful” enough even though they are getting high quality service at a low(er) prices. When you think like this you are missing the point of training your clients to invest in themselves and bet on themselves.

Step #2 Communicate Value Clearly

Many times service providers are scared of raising prices although they know and feel and even get feedback regarding the high value they are giving their clients.

Remind your clients of all the progress they have made since working with you and of all the benefits they receive when joining your community. Highlight your unique selling points through storytelling, branding, or testimonials. Raising prices will come as a natural and organic next step.

Don’t be one of those entrepreneurs who think “results speak for themselves”. They don’t. You need to be aware of the results you are creating for your clients and make them be aware of them, too.

Step #3 Plan and Strategize

Annual plans always include financial planning. Otherwise introducing a new price may indeed feel ad hoc.

Timing is crucial. Announce the change in advance - something like, “Prices will adjust on March 1, 2025,” gives clients time to prepare. For significant increases, implement incremental changes rather than one big leap.

Why is pricing hard?

My clients’ main excuses (or as they like to call them, “reason”) for delaying price increase involves a set of limiting beliefs such as undervaluing their work, associating money with guilt or shame, with abuse of power and resources (people as well) and fear.

Fear of rejection in the form of losing their clients (not only the bad ones, but also the good clients who will not be able to afford their work).

I group these anxiety triggers into three main groupsthis helps the client and me deal with the core issue.

1. Money Mindset

Many entrepreneurs struggle with their relationship with money, often influenced by lifelong beliefs. Recognizing that money is merely a tool for exchanging value can help overcome this challenge.

2. Sales Aversion

Selling is often misconstrued as pushing products onto customers. In reality, it’s an opportunity to create mutual value. A positive outlook on selling transforms it into a win-win game.

3. Resistance to Accepting Payment

A common struggle, especially among women entrepreneurs, is discomfort in receiving money or other forms of appreciation. Overcoming this requires addressing deep-seated social conditioning and, in some cases, professional coaching.

What next?

You may feel overwhelmed by all the information and possible obstacles. That feeling is natural and is a sign of you becoming aware of your entrepreneurial blind spots.

The good news is you can deal with them in many ways: seek professional advice (a coach, mentor or business advisor) or use free tools on the internet to build a robust pricing strategy. Join a community of female founders or even a mastermind in which you will be challenged on a regular basis to improve your approach to money, sales and pricing.

Raising prices isn’t just about finances—it’s about selfworth and growth. Approach this step with clarity, confidence, and pride, and your 2025 will be a year of empowered success.

The Golden Mean Lifestyle

Fitness for Modern Mothers

Your website starts with a striking story, showcasing how you transformed from an overweight university student into a 40-something entrepreneur with feminine muscles. Tell us a bit about the beginnings; where does your love for sports come from?

You know, some people are born with some "click," and as they awaken to their consciousness as children, only one thing interests them. This thing serves as a lantern, showing the way throughout your life; this will be your mission. For me, it is sports, particularly the love of outdoor activities, which initially meant horseback riding and later encompassed many different sports.

Then, in my twenties, my life went off track in this regard. Due to an injury, I couldn't exercise, and I didn't pay attention to nutrition, which led to weight gain. I got back on track but couldn't lose the extra pounds through sports alone.

Then came the moment... that particular moment that comes in everyone's life. It is very sharp and unforgettable when you feel this cannot go on and need to change. It came in my twenties when I had to work out in a large mirrored room with my classmates, all of whom were at least 15 kilos lighter than I was. I went out the door and resolved steadfastly:

I want to lose weight!

Of course, it wasn't easy; it became a long struggle that lasted years, filled with many dead ends and harmful diets. After a lot of learning and experience, I found the path that best fits our body's natural functioning without the need for extreme nutrient deprivation, selfstarvation, or exhausting, painful workouts. I named this the Golden Mean, and today, it runs under this name in my lifestyle program.

Your "Golden Mean" method might be appealing to many. How did you develop this training and nutrition system, and why do you consider it sustainable in the long term?

I graduated as a physical education teacher at the university, so I studied nutrition and exercise theory. However, fundamentally, I translated the physiological things I learned into my own habits and figured out the way from my experiences. After that, I worked with hundreds of guests who visited me! It is sustainable because, on the one hand, it doesn't involve extremes, and on the other hand, everyone can tailor it to their taste and lifestyle. I don't impose templates on my clients about what and when they should eat, nor do I force foods or workout forms they don't really like. I believe that we can only maintain a healthy lifestyle if we genuinely enjoy its components.

You offer both online and offline training. Why is it beneficial to subscribe to such a subscription, and how can you ensure personalized attention in both formats?

It's obviously much simpler offline since we meet every week. I can personalize it online by showing various alternatives in the workouts so that those just starting out can also train with us. In nutrition, there's a path that you can develop for yourself by adhering to a few key points. In the program, with the help of videos and an application, you can progress step by step and build your lifestyle strategy based on your learning.

In your female community, you particularly offer programs for expectant mothers and moms. Why did you choose to focus on them, and what challenges do they face during lifestyle changes?

Because everything was completely different before I became a mother, I really had time for what I wanted. However, from the moment you give birth to one, two, or more children, you are no longer the priority, and you're happy if you can scrape together a few occasions a week for 30 minutes of "me time."

You can't bombard mothers with 90-minute workouts or expect them to go to the gym four times a week because that's completely unfeasible for most. From the moment of conception, your body and functioning completely change, and it will never be the same as it was before. Many people get scared of this and immediately stop exercising to avoid any problems. However, the problem arises precisely from inactivity; the skeletal muscle weakens, our circulatory system isn't cared for, and we don't relieve stress. Unfortunately, the widespread myth remains that exercise is dangerous and that one should eat for two. Safe exercises can provide sports-worthy workouts, and in terms of nutrition, you do need some extra calories, but not double.

Your online presence is an important part of your work. How do you use social media to reach and support your target audience? Do you have any proven strategies you'd like to share?

My goal is to spread the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle to as many mothers and women as possible. I encourage them to take time for themselves because the whole family will only be well if the moms are doing well! In the videos uploaded to my training program and the reels visible on my social media, I show the reality I experience as a mother. Sometimes.

How do you motivate other mothers to prioritize their health and fitness while managing family responsibilities?

I emphasize that they should take time for themselves because the whole family will only be well if the mothers are well! In the videos I upload to my workout program and the reels on my social media pages, I show my reality as a mother. Sometimes, I train at the playground, and other times, I train at home, with my little girl climbing on me, wanting to play or being mischievous, but I still need to find a way to make sure I can work out. It's just as hard for me as any other mother, and I show that. I love sharing what I do to help my family live a more active life and eat healthily. With this, I want to create momentum for those thinking about making a change so they won't hesitate to take action for their health!

What motivates you every day?

Not only the health of adults but also the health education of children is close to my heart, and here I highlight the importance of setting a good example. If we start the day actively and spend a lot of time outdoors, our children will get used to this from a young age, and it will feel natural to them—not watching TV or playing on gadgets for hours every day. If we eat dinner together and eat healthy food, the kids will eventually want to try it. For example, I never forced my little girl to eat salmon, avocado, or bulgur with pumpkin seed oil, but I always ate them so deliciously that Panka wanted to try them, and now she loves them. Of course, we're also overwhelmed by a wave of sweets everywhere, but I try to incorporate them into our lives in moderation. I want to help every woman and mother with this!

Let’s build a world where women uplift women — one brunch at a time.

HOW CAN YOU BUILD AN (INTERNATIONAL) COMMUNITY WITH AI?

Building a community of people with the help of AI might sound strange at first, but it works (it has been tested in several countries).

Let's start with an obvious example: the Women & Business Brunch. While these events are always personal, AI can help with many aspects of organization and communication

Here are some great examples:

• For event marketing, we can put together a precise communication plan (what, when, and where we want to communicate)

• We can create the creatives for the posts

• We can create the materials for the advertisements or choose AI-supported solutions for ad management

• Draft the letters to the participants

• Design promotional materials (flyers, business cards, brochures, etc.)

• Or easily create a program for the event itself.

Of course, these are just a few examples of how AI can help overcome communication and other barriers.

Not to mention that, for example, in a communication campaign for an event (depending on the target market), we can use AI avatars that are more adapted to the nation's look, speak with less accent, and switch between languages in a matter of seconds.

Give it a try, and use AI as your best assistant!

On the Stage of Social Responsibility

How did the story of Delta Production begin, and what inspired you to start this unique artistic venture?

In 2017, Judit Rezes and I were having lunch with Jászai Mari Award-winning artist Judit Rezes when it occurred to me that she and her husband Győző Szabó had been cherishing a joint project plan for a long time, but they wanted to create it independently of their parent theatres, on their own. At that time, I had been making theatre for 18 years in various jobs in both the stone theatre and the independent field, so I said, with great reluctance, that I would help.

Although at the time I was inspired by the idea that I could take care of something from scratch right through to production, at the time of the big nod, I hadn't yet grasped the complexity of the work that production actually entails. But after a year of incredible job, I cried on stage with happiness after the premiere. I was always looking for a way to prioritize everything I had achieved up to that point, but I realized then and there that I didn't have to. It is this complexity that I found my place in.

Combining art and social responsibility is a key element of Delta Produkció's activities. Why did you need to address sensitive issues such as school bullying?

I'll be sincere - it wasn't initially a credo for Delta Productions. I'm a curious person, following public life, the trends that concern many, and the burning issues that I feel 'speak to me'. It's a business issue so that the choice of topics is of interest to many, but it's also a question of vocation, of listening to the needs of the audience and of embracing topics that, beyond entertainment, can have a socially formative role through the means of theatre. This has indeed happened in the case of our production of The Wasp, an award-winning crime thriller with school bullying at its heart. When the audience stayed after the performance because they had questions, debated, or wanted to share their stories with us, it was important that we, as theatre-makers, did not 'expert'. We approached UNICEF Hungary to join us as a professional collaborating partner, and since then, we have been associating educational talks and processing programs with our performances. This way, the story can impact beyond the stage, and we can engage more effectively in social responsibility.

What challenges have you encountered in combining the corporate and cultural spheres in your productions? What makes these collaborations unique?

For me, the most challenging thing has been to master the art of thinking with the other person's head: understanding why they might be interested in connecting with me, understanding their strategy, getting involved in a targeted way with a reasonable offer at the right time, while not knowing this world and its language. Fortunately, it is precise because of this Wasp that I have had beautiful connections because, for example, the fight against bullying in schools is a cause that goes beyond ourselves, in the context of which a successful business leader and a young theatre-maker may be equal partners, fighting together for the same goal:

for which I provide the means, and he knows that as a responsible leader he can shape and play his part much more effectively in the education of the next generation, who will become the employees and company managers of the future, as the case may be.

As an independent theatre company, you attach great importance to a fresh, innovative, sophisticated image and a continuous social media presence. You have also asked experts to help you with this. Why?

I believe that theatre is a business and that we can achieve our goals with the same professional elements as any other business. PR-marketing is an expert field, and to make it work well, you need to strategize and align everything from visual aspects to social presence. These work together effectively and ultimately achieve the goal.

Delta Produkció creates artistic projects and organizes events that create value for companies. How do you build bridges between art and business?

Business is no different than life itself. A wide variety of people in one place, going forward and struggling for some goal, in the course of which power situations, joys, pitfalls, disappointments, successes, and so on appear. Culture is a reflection of life itself, theatre is a mirror of it, and stories help us understand what is happening inside us. This has been the case since the first stories were told while sitting around a fire. Connecting with the theatre can not only provide entertainment and, where appropriate, employee loyalty through a more specific program, but creative forms of collaboration can also provide an innovative opening between different fields and a much more intense and broader public beyond the traditional formats, beyond one's target audience. I sincerely believe that this kind of interconnection can mean much more than a well-attended company party on a Friday night.

"No Okay!" is the title of a charity gala to raise funds for bullying in schools. We were almost all part of this as children. Why do you think it's so crucial for companies to get involved?

I've found that there's a need for successful entrepreneurs who have put something on the table to do their part in social responsibility. I think they understand very well that their leadership position allows them to influence their working relationships and, in a broader sense, to contribute to improving the quality of life of the next generation with the tools at their disposal. If they take up this responsibility, they can have a much more intense impact than each of us individually in our micro-environment.

Ultimately, entrepreneurs and leaders have an absolute opportunity to shape society. There are many reasons why a business leader may have an interest in getting involved in a "cause":

from a genuine sense of social responsibility, personal involvement, investor interest, brand building, brand image, or conscious investment to ensure that the future workforce does not have to struggle with these problems, global ambition, strengthening

employee loyalty, and so on. All of these are valid and valuable, but they all really work if the leader is committed, for whatever reason, to the cause they are championing. These things can reinforce each other very well along the right strategy.

What are your long-term goals for Delta Productions? What direction do you want to take this initiative, artistically or commercially?

I would very much like the name Delta Productions to be associated with the complexity of what we are at home with and what we believe in: if we could be a market leader and credibly present with each project in the cultural consumer, corporate, and donor markets at the same time. I would like to step up and have the opportunity to cover the capacity gaps (both financially and in terms of professionals) that are currently holding back Delta Productions' ability to make significant progress. We have achieved fantastic results with the NEM OKÉ (Not okay!) charity night; we have made excellent connections, so I can say with confidence that we will go further and, as with our other productions, we will look for the solution and the form that will allow us to achieve results most effectively based on audience feedback and demand.
