ANASTASIS窶ケort Facility in Kobe
Exterior View
Kobe has prospered as the fourth largest international port city in the world since 1868. But the city has gradually lost its social vitality after the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995. In an attempt to reinvigorate this area, I identified the relocation and integration of the existing port facilities as the catalyst for urban regeneration (named ANASTASIS).

The site is located over the sea. To create some kind of emblematic building for Kobe, the design of ANASTASIS was conceived as symbolic arch structures (between warehouse area and Meriken Park) that would be powerful get simple gate of Kobe. It is designed to get a wide view of sea.

The New Kobe Port has terminal functions of both domestic and international, shops, restaurants, and port authority. Its design breaks down all these into 3 characteristic forms depending on each function. This makes it possible to connect each function efficiently while separating from the other.

anchor plate
void slub
All functions are suspended by cables. The Void-slab allows for adequate strength and thus reduces the weight of building. The screw type couplers and anchor plates make it easier to construct and maintain the building.
