On 11th March 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake caused radioactive pollution on Fukushima. In this design competition for sustainability, we indicated the potential of Fukushima to become a sustainable city without nuclear(Timber-Electri-City). In this project, we adopted an interregional plan of redevelopment.

Phase 3
We focused on Fukushima being the prefecture with the fourth largest forest area in Japan. The new city is mainly powered by biomass power, where electricity, people and goods are transported by network system "RoMo( 路 網 )". The redevelopment begins with the construction of its station (LOTUS TOWER). The city gradually shifts and trees are planted as the phases progress.
The main problem of forestry in Japan is expensive transportation cost due to the mountainous topography. To deal with it, we adopted a network (similar to an aerial tramway). The network like a web allows for detours even if one line is accidentally cut off. The tower serves as a power plant, station and woodyard. Thus, the city becomes a recycling society based on the cycle of tree trimming.
100 year
In Buddhism, it is said that we live on the Buddhists' paradise after death, reborn on the same lotus, and is entrusted with the body. With the wish for the relief the stricken area where many victims were taken, we devote the lotus as the flower of hope for tomorrow to the people.

All sorts of goods are packed into containers and transfered by RoMo. People can see "electricity" in the movement of the containers. It makes people aware of how important electricity is. The containers are detachable, and the number of containers are adjustable as per necessary. It is also possible to export the containers from Fukushima Port directly.
