Isra’ Mi’raj Celebration & Tahlil Doa Arwah Ceremony The Isra’ Mi’raj or Prophet Muhammad’s SAW journey from Masjidil Haram-al-Mukarammah to Masjidil Aqsa in Baitul Maqdis, and his ascension to the Heaven’s in a miraculously short time should be a reminder of Allah The Most Sublime’s greatness. The ceremony began with welcoming speech by Tuan Haji Abdullah bin Haji Tahir, Coordinator of Special Services. The miracle was among the matters highlighted in a special talk on Isra’ Mi’raj organized by UBD Library. The Chief Librarian, Dr Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Abdul Karim attended the gathering with the Library’s Officers and Library Staffs. The function took place at the BIlik Selamat Hari Jadi kepada Yasib G0.5, ground floor on the 17th Dr. Haji Awang Suhaimi bin Syaaban 1436/ 4th June 2015 and the talk Haji Abdul Karim, was delivered by Imam Hj Jufri bin Hj Ketua Pustakawan Hidup, Imam of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Then the ceremony continued with the Majlis Doa Arwah and Tahlil.

The 11th AUNILO Meeting Libraries of ASEAN University Network meeting in Laos with the theme, “Technology Innovation in the Library: Shaping New Services was hosted by National University of Laos and coordinated by ASEAN University (AUN) and AUNILO Secretariat from 27-29th May 2015. The meeting was held at National University of Laos, Vientiane Lao PDR. UBD was represented byHaji Awang Mohd Yussop bin POKIDDP Haji Awang Musa, Assistant Chief Librarian and Awang Ahmad Safwan bin Haji Jalil, Librarian attended the AUNILO meeting.

Visit from officers, National Center of Malay Manuscripts, Malaysia.

20th April 2015, Dr. Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Abdul Karim, Chief Librarian received two officers from National centre of Malay Manuscripts of Malaysia; Suriati binti Ein, Assistant Director from National Center Malay Manuscripts and Nordiana binti Ahmad Tajuddin, Assistant Librarian. This association is actively engaged with the detection and documentation of Malay and abroad manuscripts. They were here to discussed about the construction of catalog database on Malay Manuscripts project with . During their discussions, the database project can be accessed online by researchers at the latest by December 2015.

Visit from 21st Executive Development Programme for Middle Management Officers (EDPMMO)

21st Executive Development Programme for Middle Management Officers from different ministries came to the UBD Library on the 1st April 2015. 17 officers were welcomed by Dk. Noraini, Acting Assistant Chief Librarian and Ahmad Safwan, Librarian and were briefed by Hajah Norleha, Librarian at Bilik Akik, 1.26 UBD Library. During the briefing, she highlighted on the membership, services, facilities and collection. She also mentioned on the new establishment of Islamic Studies Collection that available in the UBD Library.

Delegates from Universiti Malaysia Sabah Visits UBD

Delegates from UMS toured UBD Library as part of their program visit to Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

This was coordinated by UBD School of Business and Economics (UBDSBE) 35 students with a lecturer, Encik Hairul Nizam bin Haji Alias were welcomed by the Library Officers and Staff.

Working experience by a student from UNISEL

Palgrave Macmillan Books can now be fully accessed

The Library have received several universities student from Malaysia for industrial training program. This year Ms. Syaza binti Morbrak Ali, a final year Bachelor of Library Science from Universiti Selangor Malaysia, was sent for a practical training from 12th January– 30th April 2015 at UBD Library.

To end her practical training at UBD Library, a sharing session was held on Thursday, 30th April 2015 at Media Room, UBD Library. The session was attended by Haji Awang Mohd Yussop bin POKIDDP Haji Awang Musa,Assistant Chief Librarian, Head of coordinators, Head of Divisions and Library Officers.

University Library are pleased to inform that UBD Library has purchased to Palgrave Macmillan. This database can now be fully accessed through the DiLibrary portal. Palgrave Macmillan is a global academic publisher, serving learning and scholarship in higher education and the professional world. Most subjects covered in Palgrave

Macmillan focuses on the Humanities, Social Sciences and Business.

Springer online quiz prize presentation Congratulations to all the Second Round Winners of Springer Online Quiz! Prize presentation ceremony was held on the 13th May 2015 at Library Ground Level. The online quiz was

organized by Springer with the

cooperation of UBD Library as part of the library efforts to promote its resources to the library registered users. The Library hope such online quiz will be useful benefit to the users and Springer hope to continue in order to promote Springer database to the users.

Islamic Calligraphy donated by a student of APB to the UBD Library

OVID LWWT Total access collection is now subscribed by UBD Library Islamic Calligraphy donated by a student of APB Donor to The Universiti Brunei Darussalam Library on the 13th May 2015. Dr Haji Awang Suhaimi, Chief Librarian gladly thanking to the student donor for the donation to the University Library.

Librarian news from OUP: free journal access

UBD Library has accessed to OvidSp and Ovid LWWT Total Access collection database. OvidSp is a database that provide access to online academic journals, bibliographic databases in the area of medical sciences and nursing. Besides journals, researchers may access the multimedia database as tools for their research.

CUP– Cambridge Books Online UBD Library has accessed to ebooks, CUP– Cambridge Books Online. CUP is an ebook that available to libraries worldwide under a number of attractive and flexible models.
