Together we make a difference Transport A er agreeing to manage two minibuses from Bonhomie, Community Transport rapidly became one of the cornerstone services at One Community. Ini ally opera ng out of offices adjacent to the Old Town Hall, over the years it began to expand into one of the la rgest Comm unity Transport Schemes in the county. Today it remains as vital as it was 40 years ago.
Transport now provides a cocktail of services which include shopping trips and ou ngs, a semi-scheduled service to the superstores at Hedge End Park , and a dedicated Dial-A-Ride service which brings people into Eastleigh from the Southern Parishes every Thursday. We also provide a regular service when Southampton Football Club is at home, taking disabled people to the match.
Originally accessible minibuses were used to help bring members to community social and lunch clubs across the borough. However, the demand soon came for a door to door service. Dial-ARide was set up to take people who were unable to use public transport into town to do their shopping, visit friends or simply to get out and about in the borough.
The flexibility of the service has enabled us to link an amateur drama c club’s dress rehearsal to a night out for older people who do not normally have the opportunity to visit the theatre.
