New Report Launched In November One Community launched a new report which looks to help Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) right across the county broaden engagement. The project, which was commissioned by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Neighbourhood Watch Association, looked at ways to get all members of the community involved including young people, LGBT, BME, and low income groups. The report found that NHW is already doing great work across the county, but there is more to be done to ensure the organisation reflects the diversity of the community it works within. Some recommendations included: Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Hampshire Having a stronger presence online through Neighbourhood Watch Association are Chief Inspector websites and social media Beth Pirie; Chief Constable Andy Marsh; Margaret Filley Thinking about the types of crimes and issues that HINWA President; Simon Hayes Police and Crime the hard to reach face and how to incorporate this into Commissioner; Sara Glenn Assistant Chief Constable. what NHW do Explore working with local Councils of Voluntary Service (CVS) to recruit specialist volunteers that have useful skills such as online, fundraising, campaigning, or perhaps that have expertise on certain crimes Ensure NHW are represented around the table at community safety meetings and other multiagency forums NHW could really expand if it looked to reach out to other community groups You can view the full report here.
Dial-A-Ride Coffee Mornings Eleven very successful Dial-A-Ride coffee mornings have been held at One Community throughout the year. This has provided One Community’s Dial-A-Ride service users the chance to get together over a cuppa and cake for a chat—bringing a really lively buzz to the building—and to hear about other opportunities and services available to them. Pictured are Senior Operations Manager Paul Rollison, who is responsible for One Community Transport, and Dial-A-Ride customer Mavis Saffrey.
