Volunteers’ Week certificate presentation at the Ashcroft Arts Centre, 8 July, see page
Eastleigh Volunteers Celebrate On a perfect summer’s evening, on Tuesday 6 June, the Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Des Scott, presented certificates of service to volunteers from across the Borough of Eastleigh at a Volunteers’ Week Celebration organised by Volunteer Centre One Community at the Nightingale Annexe, Pavilion on the Park, Eastleigh. Guests spilled out onto the terrace overlooking the park with post presentation drinks just as the sun began to set. Forty-five volunteers from 12 organisations received certificates in acknowledgement of the work they do and all that they make possible in the Borough, by helping people in need, supporting the arts and enabling activities that improve the quality of life for local people. Winners of the Mayor’s Youth Awards were also announced, with presentations made to winner Emiley Hinton, who volunteers with the Kings Community Church Youth Project, and runner up Chloe Mundee, a Young Carer, who raised £493 for the Eastleigh Young Carers Project by doing a sponsored 75-mile bike ride in the new Forest. The Youth Award is a joint initiative of Eastleigh Borough Council, Eastleigh Lions and One Community. Organisations represented at the Certificate Presentation included Bishopstoke & Fair Oak Good Neighbours, Breathe Easy Hedge End, Eastleigh Museum, EBS Counselling Service, Good Companions Social Club from Hedge End, Health Works Activity Buddy Scheme, Lifeline, Macmillan Solutions, Carers Centre and Open Sight.
