onger days and lighter evenings make us more likely to get out and about and doing stuff. If you are interested in trying volunteering for the first time, or trying your hand at a different kind of volunteering, we’ve got plenty to offer you. The volunteering opportunities listed here in this newsletter are just a drop in the ocean. To find out more come and see us at one of our outreach events (see below), give us a call for a chat, pop into the Information Centre (Osborn Mall, Fareham Shopping Centre), or call us on 023 8090 2458. You can also browse our volunteering opportunities on the do-it website: www.do-it.org

Poppy Display at Fort Nelson Royal Armouries is hosting Poppies:Wave at Fort Nelson this spring, a sweeping arch of bright red poppy heads suspended on towering stalks, by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper, marking the centenary of the First World War. This provides a new opportunity to volunteer at Fort Nelson while Poppies:WAVE is on show, from 13 April to 24 June 2018. Working with a great team in primarily an outdoor role, you'll welcome visitors to the site and help to enhance the public's visit, ensuring all visitors are welcomed even when it is really busy. You will help them to find their way around, directing them to the sculpture. Volunteers must be 18 or over, full training will be provided.

Volunteer Steward at Ferneham Hall As one of the premiere entertainment venues in South Hampshire, Ferneham Hall provides a broad range of music, comedy, theatre and children's shows to suit all ages. The highlight of the year is the annual pantomime which attracts 20,000 people. Opened in 1982, Fareham's flagship venue is also available for hire for theatrical productions, exhibitions and fairs, meetings and training seminars, dinner dances, parties and weddings. The Ferneham Hall Stewards are a group of

volunteers who undertake front of house duties at each performance or function at Ferneham Hall. Stewards form part of a team who are responsible for the safety of the public during performances. Other duties may include selling programmes, merchandise and ice-creams and generally assisting the public. Each team of Stewards is led by a Senior Steward who reports to the Duty Manager. Stewards can also partake in social events and monthly coffee mornings to catch up with fellow stewards and Ferneham Hall staff. Becoming a Steward enables you to be part of the theatre and have the opportunity to meet like-minded people. But most of all, support your local theatre and ensure its continued success.
