1-12 June 2016 is national Volunteers’ Week, providing the opportunity to celebrate volunteers and volunteering, and to say thank you to those who transform our communities by the time, effort and skills they give freely for the benefit of others.

The KIDS Family Centre in Fareham needs Saturday out and about club volunteers. The club runs one Saturday a month throughout the year. The sessions vary in length from 3-8 hours long and are a great opportunity for young people to have fun and make friends, as well as give parents and carers some much needed respite time.

Exciting activities have included abseiling, indoor sky diving, swimming activity zone, and London trips to name a few.

KIDS needs volunteer support to assist on such days and to work with the staff and fellow volunteers to ensure a good time is had by all.

Connect to Support Hampshire – New Online Directory Connect to Support Hampshire will be an online information and advice guide and directory of local services for adults with care and support needs. It will provide a one stop shop for adults in Hampshire looking for information, community support and care options.

They are looking for volunteers to help them shape and test the Connect to Support Hampshire site. They are interested in feedback on the functionality and user experience of the site from a range of perspectives.

Trustees for Bursledon Brickworks Bursledon Brickworks is an internationally significant site of industrial heritage, being the last steam driven brickworks to survive in the country. A recent lottery funded project has helped to create a new museum based in the Grade II listed buildings. The site is owned by Hampshire Buildings Preservation Trust but in 2015 a new trust was formed to take over the responsibility for running the museum.

The vision is to create the National Museum of Bricks and Brickmaking whilst preserving the important Grade II listed buildings.

The Brickworks is currently looking for three new trustees with responsibilities in key areas including: • Fund raising • Curatorial and conservation • Marketing and PR • Human Resources • Health and Safety Volunteering Matters Page 2

People Helping People - Stubbington and Hill Head Voluntary Care Group The Stubbington and Hill Head Voluntary Care Group, serving the residents of Stubbington and Hill Head, are a group of volunteers who provide neighbourhood transport for hospital and GP medical appointments as well as for visiting loved ones. The group has provided peace of mind and comfort to local residents over many years, who otherwise may have been faced with impossible or expensive journeys.

Volunteering as a driver for just an hour a week can support your community and make a difference. Mileage expenses refunded. Role requires a DBS check.

Young Carers Support Volunteer KIDS is also looking for volunteers for its Young Carers service. Duties for which include:  Supporting the young people within monthly aged related groups  Participating and assisting to facilitate on and off site activities  Providing transport for young people to access activities Volunteers need to:  be able to engage with young people in a non-judgemental way  have a sense of humour and fun  show empathy and relate to issues that affect young people’s lives  draw upon their own relevant experiences or

have hands on experience of working with young people Also desirable are a clean drivers licence, an understanding of equal opportunities, and understanding of health and safety and being able to get involved in the evening and occasional weekends.

This role is based at Fareham Family Centre and requires a minimum commitment of one evening a month.

Fundraising Volunteers for KIDS KIDS is looking for a few volunteers to assist their Fundraiser. Could you count money, relabel collection boxes, laminate things, prepare a mailshot, photocopy and a few other similar tasks?

You’d be helping to support the work that directly affects the quality of lives of local families.

1st Catisfield Scout Group The 1st Catisfield Scout Group is looking for enthusiastic people from all backgrounds to help run their thriving Scout Group. From Beavers (age 6-8), to Cubs (age 8-10) and Scouts (10-14), there are opportunities to make a real difference to young people’s lives. It will include:  running games and activities as part of weekly section meetings and other section events  assisting young people to achieve badges and awards  assisting with residential experiences for the section  assisting the section with taking part in a varied, exciting and safe programme of activities No scouting experience necessary!

Titchfield Bonfire Boys This historic community group needs a secretary to provide administration support. At the heart of the Titchfield community is its annual events calendar, with the highlight being the annual carnival – unlike any other in Hampshire and by far the oldest. The secretary could do much of their work within their own home. The secretary should be someone with IT and good organisational skills.

CAB Receptionist Administrator Fareham Fareham Citizens Advice Bureau has a vacancy for

two volunteer receptionists, daily 9.30am to 1.30pm and 1pm to 4pm. Receptionist duties require dealing face to face with members of the public and working together with other colleagues to ensure clients are seen as promptly as possible and some telephoning to clients primarily to confirm appointments. Other duties include filing, shredding, dealing with incoming and outgoing post, ensuring that supplies of tea/coffee etc are well stocked.

They are looking for people with good communication and office / administrative skills.

An open and friendly personality together with enthusiasm about meeting new people and supporting CAB work is essential.

Trustee/Chair for 4Youth 4Youth is looking for an individual from within the wider Hampshire community who shares their commitment to young people and has the skills and experience necessary to help achieve the best possible outcomes for as many young people as possible. You may also have a particular specialist area for which you can take on responsibility, which might include Leadership/Management, Youth Work, HR, Financial, Law, Learning & Development, Marketing, Charities, Fund Raising, Business.

As a volunteer Director for 4Youth you can expect the organisation to welcome you to a friendly and dedicated team, ensure you have a clear role and understand your responsibilities, provide you with access to the information you will need in order to carry out your role and, where appropriate, provide opportunities for you to further develop your own skills and knowledge in relation to this role. Board Members must be aged 18 or over and cannot be disqualified from holding the position of Charity Trustee or Company Director.

Office Volunteer Prince’s Trust The Prince’s Trust office in Southampton needs a volunteer to help things to run smoothly. The role will include maintaining client/volunteer records (electronic and paper), communicating with young people, filing, data entry, producing letters, helping with newsletters and mailings. There may also be the opportunity to get involved with other areas of work, including supporting with events.
