Handyperson Volunteers Age Concern Eastleigh offers a low level handyman service to the local area. The service is run entirely by volunteers, which enables Age Concern to offer the service at greatly reduced rates.

Age Concern is looking for additional volunteers to help them with the service.

If you have a couple of hours a week/month free and can help local residents with low level DIY jobs then we’d love to hear from you.

New Music Makers choir in Hedge End is looking for someone to make drinks for them in their break on a Thursday night. They rehearse in the Methodist Church Hall, St Johns Road and help is needed from 8.15pm-9.30pm or if you wish, stay all night, 7.30pm-10pm and enjoy a free concert!

 

Befriending Volunteers – Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust Befriending volunteers are needed in the communities served by Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust. This is social action volunteering for 2 hours a week with patients in their own homes. It could involve chatting, playing board games, crosswords etc. The role is offered between 9am and 5pm Monday – Friday.

Admin Volunteers for Barnardos Barnardos requires volunteers who can support its various services across Hampshire, in various ways including:  Producing promotional materials  Data analysis and input  Producing training packs  Booking venues and courses for staff and volunteers  Answering telephones  Supporting service staff in the collation of materials and resources  Other administrative roles including Inventories, ordering stock and working with databases and spread sheets The office is based in Hedge End. Reasonable expenses (to include travel costs) will be reimbursed as agreed (supported by receipts) as quickly as possible.

Botley Market Hall Keyholder & Guide Botley Market Hall, run by a charity, relies on local volunteers to make it the continuing success that it is. The Hall is managed by a great team and they are specifically looking for someone to show new hirers round the Hall and enable them to get in.

You'll be given full support. The role involves:  Showing new hirers round the hall  Issuing keys and ensuring their return  Letting hirers in  Checking the security of the hall after use The role would suit a friendly, flexible person who likes meeting new people. You will be shown all that is necessary about how the hall works. You are not expected to be an expert in heating systems or electrics. This is an occasional task, not a daily one.

Volunteers for Knightwood Youth Club Enthusiastic volunteers are needed to join the team running this open access youth club on a Friday evening in Chandler’s Ford. Young people aged between 13 and 17 have the opportunity to come along, meet up with friends and make new ones, and take part in fun and engaging activities such as pool, Xbox, PS4, Wii, board games, listening to music, art and crafts, football and badminton.

supported by a happy band of volunteers, ensuring the safety of the young people, and supporting and encouraging them to take part in activities. The volunteers are always welcome to come up with dynamic and interesting activities that reflect young people's needs. The club endeavours to introduce key youth issue themes into activities in a fun and engaging way, such as sex and relationship education, drug and alcohol awareness, promotion of healthy lifestyles and careers.

The youth club runs from 6.30pm to 9pm every Friday, including during school holidays.

Volunteers are generally asked to attend three times every two months.

The club is also looking for volunteers to support in the administration and fundraising activities related to the running of the club.

Youth @ The Community Hub – Learning Disability Session Volunteers are needed to assist the staff team working each Friday evening at The Friday Night Project for young people aged 11 to 21 with additional needs. These include Autistic Spectrum difficulties. The session times are 6.30pm to 9.30pm, at The Hub in Wildern Lane, Hedge End. Volunteers will be expected to engage young people in a range of both formal and informal learning opportunities, including arts/crafts, discussion groups and cookery, and also to assist on trips and other planned activities.

Enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated individuals are needed, with a passion for supporting young people with learning difficulties and disabilities. An ability to remain calm and resourceful in sometimes challenging situations would be beneficial, as would experience of working with children/young people with Special Educational Needs.

Southampton Hospital Charity Southampton ABP marathon is on 23 April this year and the Southampton Hospital Charity is looking for enthusiastic supporters to cheer their runners on. They just need a couple of hours of your time.

You'll be given a T-shirt to wear, and instructions about where to be.

Historic Buildings Use Review The Mid-Hants Railway has a variety of buildings and spaces from small but historic lamp huts to large workshop buildings. In order to better plan the preservation of this estate a detailed survey is needed of what is there and what it is currently used for. Ideally the volunteer should be a surveyor, building engineer, civil engineer, estate manager or other person with experience of assessing the use of and cataloguing buildings.

They will need to be capable of accessing areas that have not been designed or adapted for the mobility impaired. Support and guidance on the format of the review and the information to be collected will be provided.

The GAF Centre (Greyladyes Arts Foundation), Bursledon GAF, the Arts Centre in Bursledon, has a number of volunteering opportunities available: Marketing Volunteers—who will be able to assist with publicising the Arts Centre and what it does.

This is creative role that varies depending on your skills and interests. It may include uploading information to online websites and social media as well as market research.

Fundraising Committee—Would you like to join the Fundraising Committee? GAF is looking for someone who will be able to bring fresh ideas of how to raise money for the Centre. This may include contacting businesses for sponsorship, organising campaigns, as well as applying for funding.

Small Works Volunteer—By joining the small works team you will be assisting in looking after this grade II listed building with a variety of tasks.

This could involve set building, painting and decorating, as well as small repairs.

Heritage Volunteers—are a valuable part of the Heritage Open Days in September where they interact with visitors to provide information on the local history of Bursledon. GAF is also keen for volunteers who would like to assist with researching and looking after the archive.

Arts Volunteers—Are you creative? Perhaps you would like to assist at GAF art events and workshops. This can also involve helping with outreach events.

Revitalise at Netley Abbey Revitalise provides respite breaks in a holiday setting at Netley Abbey for physically disabled adults. The centre has a number of volunteering opportunities to offer: Beauticians and Hairdressers needed—Revitalise has a fully equipped hair dressing room and is looking for volunteers who could come in to wash and dry hair, or maybe give guests a bit of a papering session, doing their nails etc.

Entertainers Needed—Are you a good story teller or do you have a talent for entertainment?

Revitalise is looking for local volunteers who could pop in from time to time to provide some entertainment for the guests. It might be a performance, a talk or even an opportunity for guests to learn a new skill. If you've got a talent to share then we’d like to hear from you.

DIY Volunteer—Could you help with some light maintenance tasks at Revitalise? Maybe you've got a couple of hours spare a month to help with painting or small repairs? Mobility aids and assistance dogs take their toll on the facilities; so the centre is always looking for some support to keep the venue looking as nice as possible for guests.

Receptionist—Revitalise always needs help on their reception desk, someone who is friendly and approachable.

Shop Assistant—Revitalise has a small shop on site where guests can some shopping. This is currently opened by volunteers a couple of times a week, but it would be great to be able to open it up to residents more often. Could you give a couple of hours a week to provide this valuable facility to guests?

Trinity Winchester Trinity is a Winchester-based charity which helps people who are vulnerable to the effects of homelessness, addiction, physical and mental ill health, poverty, social isolation and domestic abuse. They have a number of volunteering opportunities available: Office Support—If you’d like to volunteer in an office environment, Trinity has tasks to suit all tastes. Depending on your skills and time commitment, you could help with mail-shots, data -inputting, calling/mailing to thank donors,

designing posters, formatting spreadsheets, updating the database … the list really is endless! One thing is for sure though – you may be inside, but there is never a dull moment. You say what you want to do and how much time you have and Trinity will fit around you – not the other way around.

Drop-In Assistants—If you have time to spare during the day, and are able to commit to volunteering with Trinity, they would love to hear from you. From Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm, volunteers can:  Help in the kitchen  Cooking or serving  Clean or tidy up  Sort client mail  Supervise children (on occasion)  Help with learning activities They are looking for friendly volunteers who can make guests feel welcome. You will be supervised by a project worker at all times.

Fundraising Internship—Trinity offers a Fundraising Internship for a creative person with drive and a flair for fundraising. As with Trinity’s other volunteering opportunities, this can fit around your availability and skills.

Ambassador—f you can capture an audience or just want to gain some experience and confidence in public-speaking by assisting in a presentation then this could be right up your street! Trinity would love you to give a presentation to your local church, school or Rotary Club on their behalf to help raise the profile of the charity. This role is also about being available to go to events and being a representative of the charity and answering questions about the work of Trinity. This could be anywhere from a coffee shop fundraiser, to shopping centre entrance or talking in front of a group.

Breakfast Helper—Trinity needs volunteers to help on Saturday mornings from 9am to midday. This involves making and serving a cooked breakfast, talking with rough sleepers and cleaning up afterwards. You would have the support of a Project Worker at all times.

Volunteer Food Donation Collector—Trinity relies on the generosity of local supermarkets to donate food to them daily, and this is where they need help. They are looking for volunteers to collect the food donations from local stores and deliver them to the chef at Trinity's building in the centre of Winchester. Volunteers just need to be able to drive, have access to a car, and be willing to help with a collection once a month or more. Collections happen in the morning, about 9am.

Event Helpers—Collectors needed for a couple of hours on Saturday 8 April, at Sainsbury’s Badger Farm, Winchester, to collect spare change from shoppers. Marshals needed on Saturday 6 May at Winchester Cathedral to help at the Big Sleep Out. Ad Hoc – helpers needed to speak to Scouts, Cubs and Brownies about homelessness.

Skydiving—There are limited places for people to have the incredible experience of skydiving from 10,000 feet! The cost is just £50, with a fundraising target of £395. More info: http://www.goskydive.com/ trinity-winchester/.
