Webmaster for EBS EBS, the bereavement service for Eastleigh and Southampton, is looking for a volunteer to give its website a new look and/or take over the running of it. EBS is a registered charity providing bereavement counselling and more general counselling, covering work related issues, changing job, bullying, living problems, sexuality, loss and moving house to name a few. An improved website would be a great contribu•on to the con•nuing success of the organisa•on.
One Community Carers Centre Computer Café Tutor One Community’s Carers Centre is looking for a volunteer to teach basic computer skills to carers between 10am and 12 noon at Chandlers Ford Library on Friday mornings. The sessions will help people who are unsure how to use their email accounts, who need general help ge!ng online, and in using tech such as laptops and tablets. Accessing things online can be quite a daun•ng prospect for those that are new to it. It is a par•cularly important skill for carers to develop, as they may be more socially isolated due to their caring role. Online services can provide a new avenue of support and informa•on to help combat these feelings of isola•on.
House Hospice, West End Countess Mountba•en Hospice Charity is looking for enthusias•c and friendly volunteers to join their tea bar team and provide a vital service that supports the pa•ents, carers and staff at Countess Mountba•en House Hospice. Volunteers have a really varied role that involves delivering newspapers to pa•ents, providing meal•me drinks, talking and listening with visitors and welcoming people to the hospice. Volunteers will need to use their great communica•on and listening skills and be available to volunteer during the week, for two hours in the morning, a#ernoon or early evening. Regular slots and ad-hoc cover needed.
Tea Bar Volunteers – Countess Mountba!en Meal"me Assistants – Countess Mountbatten House Hospice, West End Volunteer Meal•me Assistants at Countess Mountba•en House Hospice work in support of paid staff, providing 1-2-1 assistance which can help pa•ents with addi•onal support needs to enjoy their meals with dignity and respect. Taking direc•on from staff, volunteers will help to distribute food and drinks at meal•mes and will be signposted to any pa•ents who require volunteer help, allevia•ng staff to provide care for pa•ents. Volunteers will be given training and expected to a•end regular supervision for this role. Opportuni•es seven days a week, for approximately one hour at 8am, 12 noon and 5pm. No experience is necessary but volunteers should be comfortable working in a very personal role with close pa•ent contact. You should be sensi•ve, caring, ing, pa•ent, have good listening skills and excellent communica•on skills.
