Collecting for the Great Daffodil Appeal is a fun and easy way to support families living with a terminal illness. This March, Marie Curie urgently needs you to volunteer and get more people wearing a daffodil where you live.

Car Drivers for Eastleigh Good Neighbours Drivers, using their own cars, are needed to take Eastleigh residents, who cannot use public transport, to medical and other appointments, or to the shops. A mileage rate of 45p per mile (50p when a passenger is in the car) is paid.

The Co-ordinator liaises with the volunteer to do a task - if you are unable to do it you only have to say so! So the role is flexible to fit around other commitments.

Edinburgh Awards; providing the police with a young person’s perspective on issues affecting them and their friends; and national opportunities including the National Police Cadet Competition and visits to other force areas.

Carers Action Network Carers Action Network (CAN) has a website and social media platforms and needs a volunteer with the appropriate skills to keep them updated. The required updates will be passed onto the volunteer. A quarterly newsletter will need to be emailed to CAN's subscribers. The role requires a commitment of about five hours per month. Full training and support will be provided.

Friends of Eastleigh Bereavement Service

Police Cadet Leaders Volunteer Police Cadet Leaders help to run a weekly 2-hour session in the evenings, usually 68pm (the evening varies between units). During the sessions you will help to teach about a wide range of policing and community related topics including first aid, radio use, law and procedures.

Various police units visit the cadets including the dog, traffic and armed response teams. As well as the weekly sessions you will need to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 3 hours per month and will be supported to do this through various opportunities with your unit across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and nationally.

Volunteering is a big part of what the Police Cadets is all about. You will have the opportunity to work alongside Police Officers and Staff in a variety of events and operations. Supported by their leaders, the cadets have recently been involved in: working with local police teams in community operations such as crime prevention initiatives; volunteering at large events such as The New Forest Show, CarFest, MoonWalk and Victorious Festival; achieving their Duke of Volunteering Matters Page 2

EBS offers all forms of counselling and emotional support as well as bereavement counselling to all those aged 18 and over. They are looking for volunteers who are happy to be a Friend of the charity. Friends can be involved in a range of roles assisting at ad-hoc events, with fundraising, or helping to develop the EBS social media platforms.

Maybe you are able to help to set up events and stands? If you think you are able to offer your support, we would love to hear from you. The commitment can be two hours a month or a little more.

Wessex Cancer Trust Fundraising Group Join the new local fundraising group in Chandler's Ford to help Wessex Cancer Trust raise money to support local families affected by cancer. Meetings are held at the Chandler's Ford Cancer Support Centre, 91-95 Winchester Road, Chandlers Ford, SO53 2GG.

Chrysalis Conference Volunteers Chrysalis is looking for volunteers to support their April Conference called ' the journey of transition from the inside out'. The event will focus on the services that Chrysalis provides for trans people and their significant others. The organisers are looking for anyone who would like to donate time, produce promotional materials or speak at the event. The conference will be held at Ashburton Hall in Winchester on 9 April 2018.

Refuge Volunteer The You Trust is looking for a positive, can do person to volunteer alongside the You First team in the community and within the refuge. This will involve working with women, men and children who have experienced Domestic Violence and Abuse. You will be given the awareness to be able to understand the impact of Domestic Violence.

This role will include attending team meetings, and supporting the DVA workers to facilitate groups with the clients. You will help to provide the community with a voice and raise awareness of DVA within that community through supporting staff at awareness raising events. The role also involves collecting and distributing donations within the refuges.

Are you good with people, looking to extend your working experience, able to work with those within the community, able to be calm and professional and work as part of a committed team? If so, then this could be the role for you.

In order to be a good Dog Foster you will need to: be able to attend training classes, be open to people visiting you for a home-check and visits from the trainer, be extremely committed, be patient and kind with the rescue dog and able to follow through with training exercises, be interested in positive reward based dog training, have your own transport. You must be able to love this dog as your own, but also love him or her enough to let go when the time is right.

Service Dogs UK will provide you with all the basic care needs and will cover any veterinary bills and transport costs.

Volunteers for Eastleigh Unwrapped Festival 23 June 2018

The YOU Trust is looking for caring, supportive volunteers with some time available to make a real difference to vulnerable clients. Befrienders might visit for a coffee, or take a client to the cinema or gym. The role is key to help build clients’ confidence.

Enthusiastic, active volunteers who are good with people are needed to help at Eastleigh Unwrapped on Saturday 23 June. There will be around 10 shows/acts mainly on the park area of Eastleigh, and volunteers will be needed to steward each show, and act as a information point for visitors and audiences. In the past the event has attracted over 3000 visitors.

Good Dog fosters are vital to Service Dogs UK, who match dogs with veterans experiencing PTSD. This is really where YOU can make the difference.

Fostering is a real commitment so do consider it seriously. Whilst it is extremely rewarding it is not always plain sailing. You will need patience to let the dog settle in. Rescue dogs may have baggage and have suffered trauma so could show separation anxiety, howl at night or be clingy and needy until they feel a bit more confident. This isn’t all of them by any means but unfortunately whilst care is taken to select the most suitable candidates from rescue it CAN HAPPEN! The fostering period, 4-8 weeks, makes a huge difference to the dogs, your help makes it so much easier for Service Dogs UK to match the dog to a veteran with PTSD. Your input will be required just as much as the trainer’s, who will work

The main aim of a Peer Mentor is to provide the opportunity for an individual to work towards being who they are in a more complete, satisfying and resourceful way. In this role you will provide support for an individual or group of individuals, establish, maintain and manage professional boundaries within the group, enable individual(s) to identify and explore their concerns, help raise the individual’s self-esteem and confidence through a positive and supportive relationship and where required, to review options and consequences of change.

You will need an awareness of issues affecting LGBT+ individuals, and you will be required to attend Basic Induction Training prior to the start of volunteering. Ongoing support is provided.

Volunteering Opportunities at Royal Victoria Country Park The Royal Victoria Country Park was once home to the Royal Victoria Military Hospital. Today, little is left to indicate the scale and grandeur of the original building; the Chapel is all that remains. The Heritage Lottery Fund awarded Hampshire County Council’s project, ‘Royal Victoria: Uncovering the Stories of Netley Military Hospital,’ a heritage grant in 2016. The £3.1m project has enabled the Grade II* Listed Chapel to be conserved and established as a focal point for heritage interpretation and activities, creating a sustainable future for this much-loved local landmark and providing many new opportunities for people and communities to become engaged with this very special site. The Chapel will be opening early this summer and volunteers are needed in the new roles below: Front of House Role This public facing role involves covering the reception desk, welcoming visitors and providing excellent customer service, care and security for the benefit of all. Volunteers will work to a rota and support the day to day running of the front of house area.

Visitor Host Visitor hosts will welcome visitors to the Chapel, assist the public in the exhibition and direct them around the building, interpret some of the items and give short introductions. They will be on hand to help the public to hold and engage with the historic artefacts in the Hospital collection.

Walk and Talk Guide The purpose of this role is to bring the stories of the Park to life in a fun and interactive way. A combination of guided tours around the Park and Chapel will be used to enhance the visitor experience. Tour Guides provide guided tours, much like a guided walk leader, focused on history.

Storyteller This volunteer role will deliver the Park’s history in a fun and exciting way, engaging the youngest visitors. Bespoke stories for children and families have been developed on the history of Royal Victoria Military Hospital. The three storytelling performances include one aimed at children aged 3-7 and two aimed at children aged 7-12. Training is available for this role on 10 March 2018.

Event Assistant The Chapel programme will deliver a calendar of professional events. It will be a space to hire for public/community events and performances. The event volunteer will assist in planning, preparation, setting up of the Chapel and ushering.

Education Assistant The Chapel will offer a programme of inspiring and engaging workshops for school groups that explore the history of the Hospital.

Volunteers will assist the Learning and Participation Officer in delivering these sessions and help to inspire the next generation.

No minimum amount of time is asked of volunteers. Volunteering can be done as little or as often as you can manage.
