One Community Day Centre at Fernhill One Community Day Care Service encompasses a range of day care centres serving older people with dementia living in the borough of Eastleigh. Each Day Centre aims to provide an enjoyable and stimulating day for those attending. There is a programme of activities and occupations that reflect the comments and suggestions of people attending the centre as well as the ideas of staff and volunteers. Some time is spent in fundraising to finance special events and outings on occasions throughout the year. Guest speakers and entertainers visit the centres and there are links with local communities and schools. Fernhill Day Centre is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteers are needed to assist with the running of Fernhill Day Centre in Chandlers Ford, which provides services for up to 12 people with dementia. This will include assistance with activities, arts, crafts, games and help with serving drinks, lunches and washing up.

School Governors—Merdon Junior School Merdon Junior School is situated in an attractive residential area of Chandlers Ford. The children benefit from being able to play and learn in extensive school grounds. Merdon is a school that constantly strives towards providing the best for its children, both academically and emotionally. They aim to encourage, support and challenge the children to achieve their best. The school caters for children from 7–11 years of age. They are currently looking for new governors to join the friendly governing body. Buggy Driver at Mottisfont Mottisfont, set in glorious grounds alongside the fast-flowing River Test, has many layers of history for the visitor to explore. Volunteers are a key part of the team that keeps this beautiful site open to the public. Buggy drivers are the Formula 1 stars of National Trust – just with a bit less speed! They help visitors who might struggle to get to and from the car park, as some of the historic places weren’t built to be pedestrian-friendly! This role involves making visitors feel welcome when they arrive; knowing your way around the property, so that you can give directions and perhaps share a few of your own stories; taking care of the people that use your buggy, driving it well and helping them on and off; making sure that the buggy is safe to use, and plugging in electric models to re-charge at the end of the day. You are important in making sure things run as smoothly and safely as possible – this includes getting to know health and safety and evacuation procedures. It will be necessary to undertake an initial training session which will be followed up by annual reassessments. There might occasionally be some other activities that are of interest to you, which you could help with. There will be occasions when you are required every week, covering for when the other driver is away (and vice versa). Mottisfont is also looking for volunteers to help in the book shop and café, in the grounds and with family activities. House guides and visitor reception assistants are needed, but only at the weekends.
