Welcome back everyone!

We hope everyone had a festive Christmas and Happy New Year! We are back with another newsletter for 2016 :) We would like to thank everyone who came to our Christmas meal at the Eastleigh Football Club and hope everyone had a great time as much as we did!

It was good to see everyone back at the first ENERGY session! :)

The Eastleigh Young Carers Project will be taking part in this fantastic event. What we need are willing Young Carers to take part in the design element. Below you will find a photo of the blank zebra sculpture which requires decorating!

THERE ARE ONLY A FEW SPACES LEFT TO ENJOY BEING PART OF THIS PROCESS AND HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET CREATIVE AND USE YOUR ARTISTIC SKILLS! WEDNESDAY 17th FEBRUARY 2016 10am-4pm You will need to bring a packed lunch, drinks and snacks with you on the day.

We have a great opportunity to take part in this fun dance workshop held by professional dance teachers. There will be two sessions:

FAMILY NIGHT AT THE THEATRE! Anything could happen. Anything is possible.

Sssh! Sit quietly in your seats, wait for the curtain to rise and… dance in the aisles!

When three unlikely characters become trapped in the theatre, little do they know that they will soon become the stars of their own show.

Combining a mixture of dance theatre, audio-description and imaginative storytelling with Casson & Friends’ trademark interactivity; Night at the Theatre will spark the imagination of children, enable them to explore movement and encourage them to believe they can do anything in life. It’s accessible theatre for everyone, so come along, join in and let’s make a dance! The duration of this event is 50 minutes.

In the last newsletter we mentioned volunteer Kylie Barton boycotted Christmas to raise money for Young Carers. She raised a total of £420, which means we will be able to transport 13 young carers to a residential break in Devon this February half term. They would not have had this opportunity without the funds raised. So thanks Kylie! :)

We would like to thank you to everyone who donated any raffle prizes and money for the Young Carers Christmas party. We managed to raise ÂŁ367 and this will go towards respite activities for the Young Carers in 2016. We hope everyone had a great time as much as we did! :)

Ellie Freemantle Well done Ellie, we loved your article on Eastleigh Young Carers, here it is below: The Festive Season has returned and lots of people have started to decorate their houses with flashing lights and other decorative ornaments. Many known Christmas characters are: Rudolph, Santa (Father Christmas) or on the other side of the story, Jesus, Mary and Joseph, if you are faithful to that story.

Eastleigh Young Carers do many clubs and events during the holidays and in general if anyone is interested in them and it would be great if more people joined us. Some of the ones I have done are:  Card making (making other things such as decorative and creative items were included too)  Occasionally they have parties (not just on Christmas)  Theatre trips  Visits to places such as Madame Tussauds, St. Marys Stadium, Marwell Zoo and Victoria Country Park.

There is also a choir ran by Amie and Lucy every Thursday if you would like to consider that as well. There used to be a rehearsing space in Eastleigh in the courthouse, but sadly, that is being knocked down. We have been offered a rehearsing spot at St. Marys Stadium ready for the real performance. There is usually a big event requiring the choir to perform as one group, so that’s why it’s important for us to rehearse but it’s also just for fun and a chance to make new friends in the same situation as you.

Hype is a club for all ages and it is on the first Tuesday of every month and also runs from 4pm till 5.30pm. It is in the Hype building in Hamble Community Sports College and on the 2 nd and 4th Tuesday of the month there is a club called Energy and you can do the same things there. Many activities are there to complete such as, arts and crafts, gaming (Xbox 360 or Wii) sometimes there is a parachute and there is a separate room where there is a pool table. This is in Eastleigh in the Energy building. The Hype and Energy buildings both have the name on the outside of it.

I wrote this text to inform you about the point of Eastleigh Young Carers and a bit of information on what they do and why it is there.

YOUNG CARERS AWARENESS DAY THURSDAY 28TH JANUARY!!

On the Tuesday 16th December, the Young Carers Choir had the exciting opportunity to perform at Southampton Football Stadium as part of the Star Awards. The Choir performed alongside MC’s and a live band, and also rehearsed at the stadium throughout December. The performance was superb and we are all very proud of everyone involved!! :)

Hampshire Young Carers Choir presents...

Hearoh’s A free to join vocal group who provide song writing, recording and performance opportunities to Young Carers across Hampshire in a relaxed and supportive environment. No experience necessary.

Just an enthusiasm for singing and having fun!

Any Young Carer registered on the project is welcome to come along to club, we would love to see you!

Tickets will be available to collect from the Ticket Office on the day of the game - if you have any additional requirements that may help you on the day then please get in touch.
