e have just witnessed the historic event when UK voted itself out of the European Union in June 2016. The result will definitely cause short term havocs and effect how the world proceeds in the long run. The EUR and the stock markets will feel the hit while the USD will suffer a slight bump. As for Thailand, the overall trade won’t receive much effect since UK only makes up 1% - 2% of Thailand’s total international trade. However, in the long run, this would shake the already fragile European economy and could result in domino effect in US and China economies. If the unfortunate happens, the number of travelers from Europe, USA, and China will surely slump and add the weight to the slow growth of Thailand economy! midst the cooling fog on the tallest mountain in Thailand, Doi Inthanon, is a small Karen village known to only a few travelers. Although there are only a little over 100 families living here, the village is further divided into 4 smaller communities including Baan Ang-ka Noi, Baan Mae Klang Luang, Baan Nonglom, and Baan Pha Morn. Agriculture is the main income here and you will find quality rice, corn, strawberry, coffee, and other crops which are mostly supplied to the Royal Project. A vast variety of crops allows the villagers to have consistent income as different crops can be harvested at different seasons. Agro-tourism also flourishes here with an increasing number of tourists, especially during the rainy season when the terrace rice paddies provide a spectacular backdrop view to the village. As the rainy season approaches from May till June, villagers will start to plant new sets of rice saplings, and by September – October, the whole valley will be covered in lush green rice fields.
Urbanization may be on the foot of Doi Inthanon Mountain, but the ethnic minority still conserves a peaceful and amiable lifestyle. The best way to get back to nature is to stay in a small hut by the terrace of rice fields. Let go of everything and take in the alluring scenery and fresh air. Wake up early and be a part of nature, see rice up close, learn how foods are actually grown instead of just picking them off the shelf of a local supermarket. Turn right onto highway 1009 and drive another 26 km. While driving up the Doi Inthanon Mountain look for the Baan Mae Klang Luang entrance on your left, and you are here. - Par Bong Pieng : Starting from diving up the Doi Inthanon Mountain, then drive towards the Doi Inthanon National Park checkpoint and head towards Mae Jam direction. Drive for approximately 12 km. to reach the Mae Pan Waterfall’s entrance. Follow the sign pass Huay Sai Leung Waterfall and Mae Pan Waterfall until you reach the parking lot. From this point onwards you will require 4WD vehicle to reach the Baan Par Bong Pieng village on dirt road. ich in salt, Nan has been mined for rock salt at Bor Klua village for centuries. As salt was a very valuable resource in the past, Nan became a strong district, and many empires like Lanna, Chiang Tung, Bagan, Sukhothai, and Xishuangbanna were always eyeing for the land. The North mine and the South mine by Mang River are the only two surviving rock salt mines today, and locals still use traditional method to produce salt. Salt water from the mine is pumped into a large boiler powered
by wood fire is used to boil the salt water for approximately 4-5 hours until only white deposit of salt remains. Then the salt deposit is scooped up and hung to dry before they are sold in small packages. Nan rock salt is believed to have therapeutic benefit and often used in spas and cooking. he harsh terrain of the valleys and mountains in the Phufa district, Nan, makes it hard for the people to travel in and out of the land. However, the Phufa district is home to various tribes of ethnic minority who relied on “slash-and -burn” farming which often takes a huge toll on the forest. In 1995, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited Bor Klua and initiated the project to improve the quality of life and the nature in the area, which has now developed into “Phufa Development Center under the Initiation of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.”, the project not only promotes an

increase of income for local farmers. But also sustainably revives the forest. Farmers are encouraged to produce tea leaves and other organic produces, which they can sell to the project where some produces can further be processed into higher valued products.

Mekong River, the 10th longest river in the world, stretches 4,900 kilometers through China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and then flows out to the sea at Mekong Delta in Vietnam. The wonder of Mekong intrigued me to pick up my backpack and head out on a journey from Pakse, Champasak, and make my way down Mekong River on a 3 days 2 nights cruise on Vat Phou Boat. 湄公河是世界上第十大长河，总长约4900多公里。穿越中国、缅甸、老挝、泰 国、柬埔寨最后在越南境内流入中国南海。沿途两岸风景宜人，我也想去老挝 南部的巴色，亲自体验一次在湄公河上三天两晚的豪华游轮之旅。

he journey began after I crossed the border from Ubonratchathani into Pakse, Champasak. Champasak province has a long history dating back to the early Lan Chang Empire and it is also home to Boloven plateau, a famous coffee growing region in Laos. From Pakse, I took a longtail boat ride to witness the sheer power of the river at “Maha Natee Si Phan Don” or “4,000 Islands.” The soft soil of this area is penetrated through by the river, creating islands in the middle of the river. Locals call these islands “Si Phan Don” which is derived from “Maha Natee Si Tan Don” in ancient Brahman belief. The longtail boat docks at “Koh Don Kon,” the largest island. It was surprising to see a lot of western, long-stay, backpackers on this virtually remote island, but it was a great opportunity to make new friends. A piece of history lies in the form of an abandon railroad and steam engine on this island as the French failed to connect this area to southern China. The longtail boat dropped me off safely and I boarded the Vat

Phou Boat in the evening. The large wooden boat has a minimalist feel to it with indoor deck decorated with a couch and many rattan chairs for the guests to lounge in. This is my favourite spot as I can watch the scenery go by as the night crawls in. When the next morning came, the boat slowly speeds up the Mekong River. Our experienced captain steered the boat in a zigzag route through the strong current. The soft cool breeze lulled many passengers back to sleep, but the sceneries of lush forest, villages, and local fishermen on both sides of the river were just too good to turn down for me. The boat made a short stop at Duer Tear Village, where villagers still live a traditional Laotian lifestyle, before we shot 5 hours straight to Baan Huay Toh Moh. Baan Huay Toh Moh is home to an ancient Khmer temple, “Oum Muong Temple.”, constructed in 13th-14th century, Oum Muong Temple is on the path that leads to another ancient temple, Wat Phou, and the famous Ankor Wat in Cambodia. It is necessary to hire a local guide to take you to Oum Muong Temple as the track cuts through deep jungle.
我的冒险先从最简单的开始， 从泰国乌汶府的重麦口岸入境老挝 的巴色。可千万别小看这个巴色 省，它的历史可以追溯到南掌王国 繁荣昌盛的时代。现如今这里自然 环境优越，有种植咖啡、茶叶，再 加上空气新鲜，环境优美确实是个 好去处。 从巴色城里坐车去渡口，乘坐 长尾船去欣赏当地人所说的“4000 个小岛”。由于湄公河流经巴色平 原时，就会像手指有一样分出很多 小河，所以“4000个小岛”也是这样 由来的。在当地他们则称为“斯盘 栋”这个名字也是从老挝的古语“清 澈之水”而得来。 长尾船会停靠在“4000个小 岛”中的最大的一个岛，名字叫东 阔岛。我们会感叹这样一个地方竟 然可以吸引众多外国游客来这里 长居。在岛上还有以前老挝是殖民 地的时候留下来的火车轨道和蒸汽 机。以前法国想从这里直入中国南 部，但最终还是以失败告终。
当天傍晚，长尾船将我安全的 送达Vat Phou游船。Vat Phou游 船是一条两层的木制游船，在船的 顶层有已经准备好的椅子和席子， 您可以在顶层自由活动，我也利用 在船上的时间，将两岸美好的风景 留在相机中。 第二天清晨，船慢慢的航行在 水面上，经验丰富的船长在湄公河 弯曲的河道航行自如。一阵微风吹 过，很多人还在沉睡着。但我怎么 也睡不着，两岸茂盛的树木，若影 若现的村庄，偶遇的渔船，简直就 像画一样，漂亮极了！ 游船会停靠在“杜得村”渡口， 导游会带领我们去参观老挝当地人 的生活方式，大概一个小时后，我 们回到船上。接着一直南下，大约 5个小时后到达“会荳莫村”。上岸 后，在严密的丛林中步行大约30分 钟，到一个叫“欧莫”城堡遗址，这 座城堡建于13-14世纪，这条线上 遗址群可以一直延续要柬埔寨的吴 哥窟。进入城堡隧道十分狭窄，再 加上周围树木茂盛，是的这里的城 堡给人一种特别神秘的感觉。
The last morning arrived with the highlight of the trip. Vat Phou is Laos’ second UNESCO’s World Heritage site and it was believed to be constructed in the 6th to 8th century which makes it older than Angkor Wat! By a minibus, the temple stands majestically on Phu Klao, which is located 30 minutes from the dock. The temple is divided into 3 levels, with the lowest level being a pond for believers to clean their body before making their way up to worship the gods. The second level is the temple itself and the top level is the cliff where 第三天早上，也是此次旅行的 重点：去参观瓦普寺。瓦普寺建于 6-8世纪，比柬埔寨暹粒的吴哥窟 还早。从渡口乘坐双条车，大概30 分钟就能到达瓦普寺，瓦普寺建在 山坡上，共分为三层。第一层是水 池，用于在祭拜之前的洗礼，第二 层为城堡主体，第三层则是守护城 堡的神灵。
sacrifices were performed in the past! Bright sunlight turned into golden rays as the evening set in while brown Mekong current tirelessly pushed against Vat Phou boat. I looked towards the Japan-Lao Friendship Bridge in the distance, signaling the end of our trip. The ship slowly approached Pakse and our 220 kilometers trip felt so swift. It was a short trip full of impressive experiences and stories and it’ll always be a memorable one.

A lot of interest is pouring towards hotels, restaurants, tourism, industrial, and agricultural investments, as well as property investment, including houses and condominiums in many tourist destinations in Thailand. However, Thailand has strict laws on foreign workers and investors which forbid foreigners from the following 3 fields: (1) Foreigners shall be prohibited from operating the business not permitted to them with special reasons, including newspaper business, farming, animal farming, forestry, fishery, and land trading
(2) Foreigners shall be prohibited from operating any business concerning national safety and security, business affecting art and culture, tradition and folk handicraft or the business affecting natural resources or environment, including firearm related businesses, domestic land, waterway, or air transportation, salt farming, wood carving, and mining. (3) Foreigners shall be prohibited from operating the businesses in which Thai nationals are not ready to compete, including accounting services, engineering services, legal service services, architecture services, hotel businesses, guided tour, and selling food and beverages.
However, foreigners can apply for a permit from the Director -General of the Department of Internal Trade on a case by case basis, but it will be a complex and time consuming process. To get around the conditions, most foreigners establish a limited company or limited partnership with Thai national where they own less than 50% of the share and allow Thai partner to take part in the management. With this structure, the company or partnership can engage in all businesses in Thailand.

第三类禁止从事泰国欠发达行 业。例如会计、法律、建筑、工程 技术、酒店业、导游、餐饮业。 现如今外国人还是可以从事 上述行业，但必须得到泰国商业 部的特殊允许。由于其申请程序 复杂，资料繁琐，外籍人士一般 会选择和泰籍人士合资建立有限 公司。公司在泰国注册，泰国人 的股份要占到百分之五十以上， 公司必须有泰国人参与管理。 这样以来，外籍人士在泰国 可以投资的领域就大大的增加。
