I don’t think any of us we celebrate his resurrection, or even Pentecost when we celebrate the coming of the Holy are arrogant enough to consider ourselves “expert” witnesses on behalf of Jesus. There is just Spirit, we don’t pay too much attention to the too much about Jesus that we don’t (and can’t) ascension. Although we could speculate as to know. mission and social concerns 4. Enhance community understanding that Diaper Bank of North Carolina – Moriah Gendy: Moriah Gendy provided the committee with a very enlightened history, need, vision and mission of the Diaper Bank of North Carolina. It all started in 2012 in Durham by Michelle Old who was changing her son’s diaper 15 to 20 times per day because of a rash. She wondered what do folks with limited resources do to keep their child clean. So, in January 2013 Michelle Old formed the Diaper Bank of NC with the hopes of providing 50,000 diapers in her community within the year. Two years later, the Diaper Bank distributes over 200,000 diapers per month state wide with branches in the Triangle, the Triad and Lower Cape Fear Region. The Triad branch was established in 2015. The Diaper Bank of NC works with community partners such as Clemmons Food Pantry and Smart Start to distribute diapers to families in need. These local organizations already have contacts with families who are in need of various resources. The vision is for every family in North Carolina to have access to basic necessities to support their dignity, health and quality of life. Their mission is to endorse and protect the dignity of each resident of our state by: 1. Ensuring that families with babies and children living in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers. 2. Improving access to personal hygiene products and other basic necessities to remove barriers to education, employment or personal fulfillment. 3. Distribute basic needs through community partners in order to encourage access to services and programs.

access to personal hygiene is integral to physical and mental health, education and employability.

To demonstrate the need, 1 in 3 families faces daily crisis of diaper needs across the state. 63% of military families are concerned about their daily diaper needs. As a result, a mobile Diaper Bank was established at Fort Bragg to address the needs of military families. The Diaper Bank also, provides families with hygiene supplies, adult incontinence supplies and teaches potty training classes. Over the next three weeks the Missions Committee is asking the congregation to donate diapers (size 5) and other hygiene products for this worthy cause. You may leave items on table in commons area. If you would like to volunteer at the Diaper Bank visit their website at https:// ncdiaperbank.org or call 336-830-4579. Business meeting: April 2018 minutes were approved by members present. 1.
