MECALAC UNVEILS NEW SITE DUMPER MODELS AT UK DEMO EVENT
Mecalac Construction Equipment UK recently launched a suite of new site dumper models at an exclusive event at its Warwickshire demo ground. The eagerly-anticipated 3.5MDX cabbed site dumper made its global debut, alongside all-new hydrostatic versions of the highly popular 6MDX and 9MDX.
Alongside providing VIP guests with the opportunity to get behind the wheel of each new model, the event comprised a number of informative presentations and a technology showcase. For the first time ever, Mecalac’s AX1000 articulated wheel loader was also showcased on UK soil. An evolution of Mecalac’s renowned MDX site dumper range, the six- and ninetonne hydrostatic 6MDX and 9MDX bring smooth, uninterrupted power and the addition of dynamic braking. The all-new models offer improved performance and traction – particularly on inclines where gear changes can often result in loss of drive. Removing the gear stick allows for a more spacious operator environment, increasing comfort and minimising fatigue. With fewer parts, the hydrostatic models ensure lower running costs, thanks to lower maintenance requirements and fewer wear items.
Versatile 3.5MDX
Durable, dependable, versatile and highly capable, the 3.5MDX site dumper is the latest addition to Mecalac’s world-acclaimed cabbed portfolio. The efficient, low-emission engine works through a four-wheel-drive system that features low-range in both forward and reverse, giving operators peace of mind on challenging terrain. Available with either swivel tip or forward tip, the new model guarantees class-leading power, performance and durability and includes Mecalac’s Shield safety pack as standard. It adopts Mecalac’s proven MDX cab with optional air-conditioning to provide an outstanding level of operator well-being in any weather conditions. Like all MDX models, the unique cabin layout minimises vibration
and noise, while ergonomic controls and an adjustable seat provide a relaxed environment when working for extended periods. Alongside the cab conforming to ROPS/FOPS, safety has been prioritised by incorporating MDX design characteristics which results in easier and safer access to the machine, outstanding all around visibility and a higher level of operator protection in any situation.
Wheel Loader
With outstanding power and stability, Mecalac’s AX1000 articulated wheel loader is a true market leader. Its sleek but rigid monoboom combines high tear-out forces with protected hydraulics, delivering maximum safety and impressive cycle times. The model’s self-stabilising system uses an articulated pendulum joint to make carrying heavy loads across uneven terrain significantly easier and safer.
Visibility and operator comfort are excellent thanks to a panoramic cab and intuitive control layout. Available with a range of attachments, from buckets to pallet forks, the AX1000 is an incredibly versatile on-site asset. Paul Macpherson, Commercial Director at Mecalac Construction Equipment UK, commented: “With lockdown restrictions slowly easing, we thought hosting a secret VIP event was the perfect opportunity to officially launch a number of exciting new additions to our MDX site dumper portfolio. The event was a huge success - and the glowing feedback on our new models was a really positive outcome. “Alongside the new dumpers, attendees had the first opportunity on UK soil to get behind the wheel of our versatile AX1000. The articulated loader is an excellent product and we’re experiencing ever-increasing demand for the range.”

Power Meets Portability in New McCloskey I4C Compact Impact Crusher
McCloskey International has unveiled the I4C, the latest entry into McCloskey’s impact crusher line. In a class of its own, it brings the power and productivity of an 1125mm (44.3”) impactor to a compact footprint for maximum maneouvrability.
Taking the original impact crusher design and transforming it into a heavy duty compact product that is even more flexible and productive, the new mobile crushers maximise the efficiency of any project site. Built to the same high standards as full-size crushers, the new I4C delivers additional convenience and choice to suit every customer’s needs. McCloskey engineers have adapted the design to meet the evolving requirements of today’s projects and operations by developing more compact products while maintaining the same high standard of McCloskey durability, reliability and quality. The I4C compact impact crushers have a number of features that enhance their operation. The 44” impact crusher has been designed with a deeper chamber, creating greater tramp release space. With an aggressive blow bar and apron design, 4 bar variable speed rotor, and three crush zones with an optional fourth strike, the I4C can be set up as a primary or secondary crusher in some of the toughest materials. A new asymmetric feeder reduces bridging that can occur in some applications and, combined with the single unit feeder-hopper construction, delivers better motion and vibration for the material as it moves into the impact chamber. Maximum efficiency of material flow is delivered end-to-end with the I4C - from the feeder to the new curved belt on the main conveyor that better manages material delivered to its impressive 4m high stockpile. With quick release and ground level access, the conveyor belt is also easy to maintain and service. As with all McCloskey equipment, safety is paramount, and the I4C is equipped with a number of features to ensure the workplace and the operator are secure. A chamber door safety sensor, built in safety shutdown functions, chamber safety arm and an innovative platform for changing blow bars all contribute to the safe operation and maintenance of the equipment. Simplicity is key, with ease-ofuse and safety considerations built into the low voltage electrical system, hydraulics and control panel. Higher engine power delivers cost efficiency by delivering maximum production levels and is, sizefor-size, McCloskey’s most powerful impact crusher. For maintenance ease the vast majority of components are identical between models to simplify spare parts. Ground level access allows for quick service and maintenance, reducing the downtime for the operation. These compact mobile crushers are suited particularly to construction and demolition recycling, asphalt recycling and aggregates. With their fast setup time and ability to nimbly move around in tight spaces, the crusher’s small footprint is uniquely suited to heavy duty applications where mobility and high production are key.
Sandvik Mobile Crushers & Screens have reached a major safety milestone with 1,000 days without a lost time incident.
Employees have worked two years, eight months, and 27 days without any lost time injury, which is a measure of monitoring incidents that result in an employee missing work due to an injury or accident in the workplace. Manufacturing engineering is traditionally a hazardous environment where heavy equipment and machinery parts are part of daily operations. This milestone covers the company’s global operations, which include offices, fabrication sites, warehouses and workshops in the UK, USA and India. Careful consideration of hazards is given throughout the business, and a commitment to embed a health and safety culture throughout - from Sandvik’s Centre of Excellence at Ballygawley in Northern Ireland to those who work on customer sites and everyone in-between. There are multiple schemes in place to ensure safety remains at the heart of the business, including observation systems, regular training, toolbox talks and health and safety focus campaigns. Safety is #1 priority at Sandvik and its EHS vision is ‘Zero Harm.’ Comments President Mobile Crushing & Screening, Andy McCullock: ‘I would like to express my thanks to each and every member of the team, without whose individual contributions it would not have been possible to achieve this milestone. We will continue to work together for ‘Zero Harm’. “At a time where our health and wellbeing are top priority, it is fantastic to know that our own teams have achieved such a positive milestone. Congratulations to all our colleagues for keeping each other, our customers, and the machinery we support safe. What a great milestone to accomplish in 2021!”
