Anime (ah-nii-meh) is a Japanese animation product. The word anime is the abbreviated pronunciation of “animation in Japanese. The biggest difference from anime and cartoon are the eyes. In anime, the eyes are much bigger than the eyes in cartoons. To make an anime, a manga artist has to first draw a manga series that people will buy and would want to read. Anime is known for the artwork and the stories.

History

Anime has a long history. It started during the early 20th century. One of the first anime’s is Katsudo Shahin’s Namakura Gatana. It is also one of the longest surviving films. Japan has experimented using a lot of different techniques from France, Germany and USA. The first few animes were only about 2 minutes long. The Japanese have made a huge progress toward the anime history.

Toei Animation is a huge animation company. In 1948, Toei (toh-ehyi)Animation produced one of the first colored anime, Hakujaden(hah-kooo-jya-denn). It was widely considered as the “first anime ever, since it was in color, not black and white. Toei Animation eventually produced three of the most well known anime series, Dragon Ball in 1986, Sailer Moon in 1992 and On Piece in 1999. One Piece is very popular, and is still being produced. Toei Animation is a great animation company due to the techniques and amazing special effects.

Production Process

The production process of anime is very specific and also complicated. First of all, the author/manga artist first draws the story board(Which includes the character settings). Then, the producer from the animation company will take the manga and story board. This is the first half of the production.

The second half of the production cost a lot of money. The art director(s) will copy the drawing onto the computer. The animation process now starts. The digital painters will clean up small errors or messes. Now, the voice actor/actress will record the character voices. Afterwards, the recording director will add the music/sound effects. Anime takes a lot of energy and money to produce.

Popular Anime-2013

An anime has to be popular in order to earn money from it. These are some popular anime’s in 2013. SummerDuring the summer, there is a lot of new animes that has premiered. Some summer hit animes are: Blood Lad, Rozen Maiden, and Sunday Without God. My favorite out of the anime above is Sunday Without God. This story is about a girl whose mom and dad got murdered. She takes over her mothers job but one day she meets a mystery man. Autumn/FallBeyond the Boundary, Freezing Vibration, Miss Monochrome, Kuroko No Basuke. I think the manga artist that came up with these ideas are very talented.

Sponsors

If an anime makes it to top ten anime of 2013, they can earn a lot of money and sponsors. An anime needs a lot of sponsors to produce. In order to do that, the author needs to create a story thats interesting, and will attract readers. That way, when it becomes popular, the sponsors will eventually sponsor the anime. Sponsors are a very big part of animation production.
