eleVenth sunday in ordinary tiMe (Year B) 13/14 JUNE 2015 Entrance Antiphon O Lord, hear my voice, for I have called to you; be my help. Do not abandon or forsake me, O God, my Saviour! Reflection and Thanks A sincere thank you to all who made last Saturday’s First Holy Communion celebration the great occasion that it was. The Lord will bless particularly the children and their families and we pray that through regular reception of this sacrament they will grow in the love and knowledge of Jesus. The celebrations continued last weekend with our Blessed Sacrament procession on Sunday afternoon followed by the parish Big Tea; we were blessed with glorious sunshine and again sincere thanks to everyone. Thinking of today’s gospel, occasions such as these make the Kingdom of God very real in our hearts and in the world and so enable the ‘mustard seeds’ of our faith to grow helping others to find in us and with us a place of shelter and comfort. New Papal Encyclical Pope Francis’ Encyclical on the environment, Laudato Sii (Praised Be), will be published on Thursday 18 June. The title is from St Francis’ Canticle of the Creatures. One of the consultors for the document had this to say: “I think the pope wants us to become aware [that care for creation and the option for the poor go hand in hand]. He is aiming at a change of heart. What will save us is not technology or science. What will save us is the ethical transformation of our society.”
