FiFteenth sunday in ordinary tiMe (Year B) 11/12 JULY 2015 Entrance Antiphon As for me, in justice I shall behold your face; O shall be filled with the vision of your glory. Fr Mark Writes This weekend we have a retiring collection for the Apostleship of the Sea, the Church’s mission to seafarers, many of whom lead very harsh and poorly paid lives. Very often the AoS chaplain in the port is their only reliable contact when they or their families are in need. So many of the seamen in the merchant navy are Catholics, from very poor communities in southeast Asia. This collection is such a good way to help them. Next Friday (17 July) we celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation – 7 young people and one adult. We look forward to welcoming Fr Paul Mason, episcopal vicar for Kent, to celebrate the Sacrament. Mass begins at 7.30pm and all are heartily welcome. The two “extra” events last week were a great success: almost 70 people came for the Taizé evening on Monday and they enjoyed a very prayerful evening, singing the beautiful chants, listening to the Scriptures and words from Pope Francis, with plenty of silence. And then quite a number of us were present in Canterbury Cathedral as Cardinal Pell celebrated Mass on the high altar and preached very powerfully about St Thomas of Canterbury. It was the first time a Cardinal had celebrated Mass there since the Reformation. Truly a historic occasion.
Children’s Liturgy This group is open to all children aged between 4-9 years (9.30am Mass).
