tWenty-seCond sunday in ordinary tiMe (Year B) 29/30 AUGUST 2015 Entrance Antiphon Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I cry to you all the day long. O Lord, you are good and forgiving, full of mercy to all who call on you. Coming Up This Week Next Saturday (5 Sept) a Day of Renewal at Aylesford, “Now is the time of God’s Favour”, will take place. The day begins with Rosary at 9.30am and ends with Mass (which starts at 4pm). Our parish first Friday Evening Mass and Prayer for Healing will be celebrated this week (4 Sept at 7pm). Please come if you can. The Parish Pastoral Council will be meeting on Wednesday at 7pm, please keep its members and their discussions in your prayers. Annual Day of Global Prayer for Creation Pope Francis has established an annual day of global prayer for creation to be celebrated on 1 September. He writes: “The annual World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation will offer individual believers and communities a fitting opportunity to reaffirm their personal vocation to be stewards of creation, to thank God for the wonderful handiwork which he has entrusted to our care, and to implore his help for the protection of creation as well as his pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live.” The Day of Prayer is in unity with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, who began a similar day of prayer for the Orthodox Church in 1989. “The celebration of this Day, on the same date as the Orthodox Church, will be a valuable opportunity to bear witness to our growing communion with our Orthodox brothers and sisters.”

An hour of adoration every weekday from 8.30-9.30am has been set aside for a particular intention (see table above). Those unable to make the hour each morning are encouraged to take time during the day to pray for these intentions.
Justice and Peace: This weekend sees our regular Traidcraft stall in the hall plus the addition of a stall of home-grown fruit and vegetables for barter or purchase. Please come along and support the parish’s mission to the poor any proceeds will go towards the work of Sr Astrid in Congo. Traidcraft have become something of a victim of their own success. They have skilfully raised awareness of Fairtrade but reap no benefit from the increased sales in supermarkets. Please support the stall and their work. SVP Awareness Month 2015: The purpose of SVP Awareness month is simple, to tell people about the Society of St Vincent de Paul so that more people may benefit from our work and more people can get involved. There are posters on display at the back of the church over the month - each poster covers a different aspect of the SVP work. On the feast of St Vincent de Paul, there will be an appeal at each of the masses. Thank you for your continued support. Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies: Introductory evenings for the CCRS course will be held at the CCF, Tooting Bec on Tues 15 Sept (7.30pm) and the Angelus Centre, Erith on Thu 17 Sept (7.30pm). Minsteracres holiday/retreat: The group returned last Saturday after a very successful and spiritually refreshing week. We were blessed with good weather all week apart from Tuesday when we had to replace our afternoon trip to Hadrian’s Wall with a visit to Hexham. Thanks to everyone for making it such a wonderful time. We’re booked in for next year from 13 –20 August. Demelza Quiz: Saturday 19 September, 7 for 7.30pm. Tickets £7 each bookable via Nick 07546 454096 or Moyra Feathers 01227 368662. One World Week Meal: Saturday 17 October 2015 at 7pm. Save the Date! Cleaning rota and other rotas: can be found in the porch. The 1st Collection for last week was £829.08 (of which £445.65 was from gift-aided envelopes and £383.43 was loose collection). Thank you. NB If you are a UK tax-payer then you can gift-aid whatever you offer. This allows the parish to gain an extra 20% at no extra cost to yourself.
