thirty-seCond sunday in ordinary tiMe (Year B) 7/8 NOVEMBER 2015 - Remembrance Sunday Entrance Antiphon Let my prayer come into your presence. Incline your ear to my cry for help, O Lord. Standing in Solidarity This Sunday we stand in solidarity with people throughout the land, to remember all those who gave their lives in defence of our country; we thank God for the sacrifices they made,we pray for all the victims of war and pray above all for peace for all the nations of the world. Today’s Gospel reminds us that, when it comes to almsgiving, it is not so much the amount we give as the attitude of heart that goes with it. With this in mind, we quote from a letter forwarded to us by Aid to the Church in Need, where they thank us for the donations from the “Syria Box” at the back of church which have topped the £1,000 mark in the last six months. Pope Francis had written to ACN to thank them for a report on the Persecuted Church which they presented recently in the House of Lords saying he “appreciates the efforts of all in keeping before the world the plight of Christians persecuted for their faith……and he “hopes that men and women of religious faith and goodwill may express their concern for their brothers and sisters suffering throughout the world by means of spiritual and material assistance.” Parish Mission: 13-28 February 2016 Preparations for the Mission are picking up speed. Christine Walker has very kindly agreed to be the overall co-ordinator and we are in the process of seeking parishioners to fill a variety of other roles (continued on p.3).
