Fourth sunday oF lent (Year C) - Laetare Sunday 5/6 MARCH 2016
Entrance Antiphon Rejoice, Jerusalem, and all who love her. Be joyful, all who were in mourning; exult and be satisfied at her consoling breast. Happy Mothers Day!!! It’s only 3 weeks to Easter…..the date for Easter is very early this year and the experience of the Mission somehow seems to have accelerated the passing of time. This Sunday we will have Lent prayer and devotion at 4pm; there will be evening Mass on Friday at 7pm followed by Stations of the Cross. Looking back on the Mission…..the final weekend went very well with a very lively and well-attended Questions of Faith session in the Retreat Hall on the Friday night: we had to cut the meeting short at 8.30pm, otherwise we could have been there till 10pm, with questions flowing freely. The Mass with Anointing of the Sick on Saturday morning again went extremely well, with a very good attendance. The service was both moving and spiritually very uplifting. The light lunch in the Hall afterwards, with three varieties of soup, kept the community spirit going very effectively. And then the celebration on Saturday evening, with tables laid out with all manner of delicious foods, was also a great success. So many people came that we had to set out several more tables and it was a while before we could clear the floor space to let the dancing commence. Young and old threw themselves into Dorset Square Dances and Circassian circles and it turned out to be a hugely enjoyable evening. The SVP members deserve special thanks for the way they served the food and kept it all appearing from the kitchen. It was a great team effort.
