Friday 7th June: The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. (Please see note later in bulletin about Companions in Prayer) Saturday 9th June: The Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: We have 11 children in this year’s group of First Communicants and 8 of them had their celebration this Saturday (2nd June). It all went off very well, thanks to the engaged participation of the children and their families. The hard work of Cloe Maple and Sue Coppens in preparing the children was well rewarded and we were greatly helped in the celebration by the choir who were able to be present in good numbers. The remaining three children will receive Holy Communion for the first time at the 9.30 Mass on Sunday 10th June – urgent family matters made it impossible for them to be with the other children on Saturday. We shall look forward to celebrating – all together is the hope – next Sunday. FR MARK’S FAMILY BIRTHDAY: Thank you for all your good wishes for what is turning out to be a record‐ breaking 70th birthday party. It was a great week of meeting, chatting, eating and drinking…some of my immediate family had not met some of our distant cousins for 30 years or so. We were also treated to three spectacular thunderstorms during one of which the hall we had hired for lunch came within a hairsbreadth of being flooded. The local parish (in Southam, Warwicks) was St Wulstan and Our Lady and we were told that Saint Wulstan had been born in the village of Bishop’s Itchington, the colourfully –named village that was the nearest place of any size to our holiday‐cottage lets. PS….. I have to be away on Passionist Provincial Council Business from Monday to Wednesday this week – I have been asked to have a meeting with the three priests from our Province who live and work in Sweden. Life should return to normal as of Thursday, I hope…..
