How are we to deal with it? Do people believe in a personal force of evil any longer? CONGRATULATIONS: to Duncan McCrae who celebrated his 90th birthday this week. Duncan , with his beautiful, soaring tenor voice, has been a mainstay of our parish choir for many years. Sadly, ill health has meant that he has not been able to come to church for several months now. But we wish him well and thank him for all that he has meant to us over the years. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHRISTIAN? Following on from the invitation from Peter Green in last week’s newsletter. Peter Green writes – “would you like to join in on a study/reflect on the Word of God? And do this in small groups in our own homes? Some would like to give this a try and we would like to know how many would like try it. WANTED: The Passionist Community are looking for a cook to prepare lunch Monday-Friday. Please contact Fr Mark. "Summer Fayre 25th August”- Following meeting last Sunday & review by SVP regrettably a decision has been taken to cancel this years' event. There are a number reasons including the non-availability of sufficient support volunteers due to holidays and other commitments are appreciative of the hard work so far by the organising team, but this will not be wasted as we have a wonderful programme planned for next June 2019. Thanks to all those who have offered raffle prizes. It is proposed to hold a Grand Draw in September as well as Parish/SVP event in October- so watch this space" DEMENTIA SERVICES PROVIDED BY AGE UK HERNE BAY & WHITSTABLE - Many people reading this have experience of knowing someone who is living with dementia. Whether it is a friend or family member, the impact for those involved can be huge. Age UK Herne Bay & Whitstable provide services to help support those living with dementia, their carers and families. They are asking for volunteers to help with activity Clubs/art & craft clubs and coffee mornings. THE SVP is seeking to recruit an 1833 Research and Project Development Officer to review, re-model, project plan and potentially produce resources for our programme for 18-30 year olds in preparation for a service relaunch in Sept 2019. £27k pa pro rata; 3 days a week; one year contract. Home-based with national travel. Closing date: 10:00 on Wednesday 25th July 2018. Interviews: Thursday 26th July 2018. Start date: Wednesday 29th August 2018. THE ST JOHN BOSCO CHILDRENS’ SUMMER CAMP at Aldham Essex. This is an activities camp with a Catholic ethos that runs as follows:· Saturday 28th July to 4th August 2018 for Boys · Saturday 4th August to 11th August 2018 for Girls It is for children aged 8 to 13 and costs £145 per week.
