FEAST DAYS THIS WEEK: Wednesday 19th: St Theodore of Canterbury. Thursday 20th: Korean Martyrs. Friday 21st: St Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist. MISSION/APF RED BOXES – It’s that time of year again. Please return your red box to your promoter or hand in to the Parish office before the end of the month. Promoters please collect your envelopes from the Parish office. PRAYER FOR HERNE BAY: A new lay-led initiative begins this month, on Monday September 24th from 7.00 to 9.00 pm and it is being held in the Angling Club on Western Esplanade. The meetings will be monthly and will take place on Mondays DEANERY EVENT: On Saturday 13 October, from 10.30 to 3.30 there will be a Day of Prayer and Reflection on the Eucharist, led by Canon Luke Smith, Spiritual Director at Wonersh Seminary (and former Parish Priest of Margate). It will take place at St Teresa’s, Ashford. This will be our 4th and final session on the Eucharist and it will also provide an opportunity for feedback from our parishes’ delegates to the Adoremus Congress. All are welcome. Lifts will be available. HARVEST FESTIVAL: 22-23 September: Celebrate it with the Flower Guild. If you have any seasonal flowers e.g. Hops, Chinese Lanterns, Dahlias, Gourds, Pumpkins we would appreciate them. Leave at he back of church By Tuesday 18 September. SAVE THE DATE: 13 October: The SVP will be hosting a “Supper and Cabaret” event in the Parish Hall. It will include a three-course meal including wine and soft drinks as well as several wonderful performances by local “stars”. Tickets will be £10 each, and, to allow sufficient space for performers, places will be limited to 100. They will be available from 20-21 September after Mass. If you wish, you may reserve places: phone Frank on 01227 652370 There will be an SVP Grand Draw with cash prizes of £150, £50, and £25. Tickets at £1 in books of 5 will be on sale after Mass from next weekend . Stubs may be returned after Masses up to and including 27/28 September SEPTEMBER is SVP Awareness Month : Last year our SVP visited 51 clients: families, lonely and elderly people in their own homes. The needs continue to rise and more full-time and auxiliary members are needed. More will be said on the weekend of 27/28 September when there will also be a collection for the SVP. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PROGRAMME: for children in Year 4 and upwards . Please hand names in as soon as possible with address, phone/email details and date of birth. Our programme will begin in October. (Please note that it is for Year 4 + children - there was a mistake in last week’s bulletin. Very sorry about it!! EQUAL SHARES: September winners: A. Bryson £30; W. Total £951.73 2ND Collection for Catholic Education Services: £199.99 There will be a second collection this Sunday for Home Mission and Evangelisation. NB If you are a UK tax-payer then you can gift-aid whatever you offer. In the Upper Room. All welcome Adoration every weekday: 8.30-9.30a.m. Wednesdays: also after Mass till 12.00 Also Saturday morning, 10.00 to 11.00 with Rosary at 10.45., said for the Parish each week. There is a further opportunity each week: at Convent Chapel, 25 Western Esplanade from 3.00 to 4.00pm on Fridays.
