FEAST DAYS THIS WEEK: Monday 22nd October St. John Paul II

THE APOSTOLATE OF ADORATION: As a parish we already have several opportunities for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each week and now there is something new in the air. Several of us went to a meeting early in the summer to hear about The Apostolate of Adoration which has already made great strides in Ireland. Basically it asks for members of the parish to commit one hour per week to praying before the Blessed Sacrament for the intentions of the parish and the wider world. Archbishop Peter is fully behind this initiative and several parishes in the diocese have already taken it on. It is fully lay‐led and there are powerful testimonies from Ireland and elsewhere as to the fruits it brings. There will be a presentation about this at all Masses this weekend 20‐21 October. Please keep this initiative in your prayers. HOME MISSION SUNDAY: Because of the necessary attention given to the Apostolate of Adoration this weekend, the appeal for Home Mission Sunday will be held next weekend. The purpose of Home Mission Sunday is to provide support for the Bishops’ Conference in their work of evangelisation in our lands – a more important need than ever. PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: among many items discussed at our meeting on October 10th were: setting up a new parish database to improve communications….. a gardening group to look after the grotto area….developing relations with the Catholic Club including a link‐up for internet access in the Retreat Hall… parish fundraising: Christmas Fayre December 1st….Let’s Talk session: Monday November 19th DON’T FORGET: CLOCKS GO BACK ONE HOUR NEXT WEEKEND.

SVP ‐the following raised a combined £2,050 net of expenses Supper Cabaret ‐ based on feedback this was a wonderful evening with 100 Parishioners relatives and friends attending‐ there were so many people involved (estimated 40 plus) it is impossible to name all but such a combined effort bringing together Parish Groups & Individuals including Lunch Club, Indian Community, Entertainers, Flower Guild, and SVP members and auxiliaries IS WORTHY OF SPECIAL NOTE.
