AS you will hear from Archbishop Peter’s Pastoral Letter to be read at all Mases this weekend, Lent is a special time of grace and it is good to decide now about how we are going to keep it – it is so easy to put such decisions off and then before we know it we are heading into Holy Week!! There are three traditional means of keeping Lent well; the point of our Lenten practice is to prepare suitably for the great feast of Easter.  PRAYER: On the Sundays of Lent there will be a service of prayer each afternoon at 4.00. We have Mass at 10.00 each day: maybe it would be possible to come once a week. There is Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday from 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. Why not come to church and spend some time in quiet prayer along with other members of the parish who come regularly. And it is always important to do what we can to prepare for a good Confession during Lent.  FASTING: We can fast from food and give the money we save to the poor: next week there will be the annual CAFOD Lenten Appeal. We can fast from TV and the other media and use the time for prayer or for spiritual reading.  ALMSGIVING: apart from the suggestion under FASTING, above, there is our £1 per week support for the SVP (envelopes at the back of church) and there are many other good causes we can support – e.g.wall‐ boxes at the back of church for Mary’s Meals and Syria. FUNERAL: Friday 8th March : Requiem Mass for Brian Phillips at 10.00 PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: Meeting on Ash Wednesday after the Evening Mass FR KEVIN ST. AUBYN: parish priest of Whitstable is having heart bypass surgery on Monday 4th March in London. Please keep him in your prayers. Please also remember Wallace Pateman and all who are sick.
