Yupianlou Art Center

Softwares:

The building provides various programming functions where it meets the living requirement of different users. The design ensures the level of privacy while providing public areas with openness and transparency.

Fujian, China

1

The site is surrounded by mountains from all sides and it has the highest density of rammed earth buildings in the Nanjing area. The village includes buildings from the past 700 years, all buildings are been constructed during different eras.

2

Follow the ‘green building’ strategy; the architecture is a combination of local and modern materials. It uses modern techniques to shorten the construction period and further reduce costs.

3

The project tried to retain its existed building elements such as rammed earth walls; bricks and tiles; wooden structures; and other local architectural forms.

At Home - Density as Possibility

Softwares:

A view looking up (Central Void)

A central void space is created in the center of the building. The solid to void transition blur the indoor and outdoor boundary. The transition continues throughout the buildings and marks a transitional space from public to private.

The infinity

The site is located in a National Park in Ontario, Canada. This is a large piece of empty land without any nearby development due to its location and its complex landscape.

In the project, we were asked to design a view platform to observe the night sky. This project needed to be highly accessible from all directions. In terms of the program, this design needed to include a small museum where the visitor can access and have the ability to learn more about the night sky.

Use CFD to study how to guide away the strong wind
