It’s finally summertime in Temple City and we are all ready for some much-needed warmer weather. This spring brought a lot of unexpected rain. As Californians, we “survived” over 10 rain storms this season and we can all agree it felt like we had teleported to the gloomy and wet Pacific Northwest. Nonetheless, the rain was good for the California drought as we enjoyed some much-needed indoor time with our families.
This summer Temple City will be celebrating its 100th founding year. City Staff is working with the Historical Society of Temple City to commemorate and organize a day of celebrating our past and history. I invite you all to stay tuned for more details as we put together something special for our community. However, the celebrations will not stop there! I hope to see you and your families at all the events Temple City has to offer this summer like our concert series, movies in the park, Camp-A-Palooza, or even at a Neighborhood Watch Meeting. I encourage you to get involved with your community and show your camellia pride!
In this issue of Connect you may notice a few changes to say the least. We decided that Summer was the perfect chance for a fresh start and compile our Rec Connect Issue with our “Big” Connect Full issue. Our residents can now enjoy one whole magazine, a one-stop shop for everything Temple City. We would love to hear your feedback on this small rebrand and let us know your thoughts at pio@templecity.us or by phone at (626) 285-2171 ext. 4122.
As we begin to enjoy the upcoming warmer weather, we hope you stay cool and indulge in all the wonderful summer activities Temple City has to offer. See you all at our upcoming city events, council meetings, and community events!
Cordially,
Bryan Cook City Manager![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/230420235737-90ee83969ee9f8cf9423006e8910836e/v1/82a967c253787e18e875964a61e2f282.jpeg)

The Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang hosted an in-person Resource Fair in Temple City where residents received the latest information on vital County services such as property tax savings for those with damages from the latest slate of torrential rainstorms, among numerous other services.

The fair was free and open to the public at the Live Oak Park Community Center on March 4, 2023. The Resource Fair was designed to connect homeowners with various services available to them, with perhaps the timeliest being a tax savings program for those property owners experiencing damage from the rainstorms. Attendees also discovered how property taxes would be treated when an ADU is added to a property – the small granny flats you find behind homes, to name just a couple of the County services offered.
This in-person Resource Fair attracted hundreds of visitors eager to learn about the vital County Services available to them. Although this was the first Fair of 2023, they are growing in popularity from the two hosted in 2022.

Services are available to residents of Temple City and adjacent unincorporated areas. This service operates 7 days a week and makes point to point trips around town and designated medical facilities outside of Temple City. We are now allowing same day sign-up for Dial-A-Ride (dependent on ridership volume). Senior residents can call in to the reservation line at 626-286-2456 to reserve. For more information, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 626-579-0461 or visit www.templecity.us/dialaride.
