Background I was born on 27th August 1972 into the family of Mr Julius and late Mrs rs Nancy Aondona from Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State. I began my education ducation at St. Theresa’s Primary School and later went to Nativity Private School, all in n Makurdi from 1977-1983. I later attended Queen of the Rosary Secondary School Gboko boko from 1983-1988. I obtained my first and second degrees in International Studies dies from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, in 1997. I acquired my master’s aster’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies in 2004 from Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi. Currently, I am pursuing a Doctorate degree in Political Science ce majoring in Politics of Development at BSU. Years of marriage We have been married for 20 years and counting. The marriage is blessed ed with five children, five stepchildren and several others by adoption and extension. n. Supporting husband I thank God for every victory or success my husband has achieved in life, e, it’s not just about how much effort I have made. My support would amount nt to nothing if I didn’t commit our efforts into God’s hands. God’s grace has been sufficient to enable any necessary support he needs from me. I must sayy that God has been the strong one here. If I played any significant role that is counted worthy of mention then I give God the glory. Role as First Lady I appreciate the tortuous journey of the Nigerian woman in trying to assert her role as a partner in development. It has not been a smooth h sail but the efforts are worthwhile. Today, a good number have proven the worth of the Nigerian woman and her contributions towards the development of Nigeria and beyond. Benue women in particular are hardworking and committed in their ways but there is the need to encourage and support their efforts to bring out their potential to bear significantly in the socio-economic development of the state. The rural women especially are in dire need of such support. It is for thiss reasons that if given the opportunity, I would encourage agricultural activities among our women because Benue State is first an agriculturall state. Besides, the women play major role in farming activities. They need ed to be supported to match their farming activities with the right methods ds in this modern time. I would love to support strengthening the economic mic opportunities of women by encouraging entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, sition, creativity in genuine and profitable ventures, as the case may be, for sustainability. The wealth of a state lies in the good health of its citizens. The good health and well-being of the women, children and vulnerable groups oups should be a special concern to me as well. Coping with challenges I thank God for his grace, that was sufficient and has continued to be att every point that I need it. Challenges were there but coping wasn’t an overwhelming challenge. allenge. Giving husband attention despite busy schedule I give my husband time and even cook for him despite my busy schedule. ule. That is my role as a wife; some roles cannot be exchanged or disputed. I still and I mustt play my God given roles, no position can change that.
RE THE RURAL WOMEN ESPECIALLY ARE IN DIRE NEED OF SUCH SUPPORT. ITT IS FOR THIS REASONS THAT IF GIVEN THE AGE OPPORTUNITY, I WOULD ENCOURAGE G OUR AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES AMONG WOMEN BECAUSE BENUE STATE IS FIRST AN AGRICULTURAL STATE. BESIDES,, THE MING WOMEN PLAY MAJOR ROLE IN FARMING PORTED ACTIVITIES. THEY NEED TO BE SUPPORTED TIES WITH TO MATCH THEIR FARMING ACTIVITIES ERN THE RIGHT METHODS IN THIS MODERN TIME. CO V E R I N T E R V I E W // EUNICE ERDOO ORTOM Supporting husband’s busy schedule He has ever been a busy person though he has more responsibilities to shoulder now. However, that should not constitute a problem because what I know is that God’s grace can sustain us through every situation. We always surmount difficult times through prayers and understanding. I also know that God will continue to protect and guide us aright. Fortunately, we have never lost our intimacy due to the pressure of work. We do not just allow that happen. We both maintain trust in God this time for the same experience. Fond memories growing up I have many of such memories. One of them is when I insisted on starting my primary education as an underage pupil. They tried stopping me without success. I loved following my cousins to their school. My perseverance to continue with that on a daily basis attracted the attention of some teachers who encouraged me to attend classes with other younger children in the school instead of hanging around and waiting for my cousins to close from school to take me home. It was quite an exciting moment for me when my parents arranged a pair of uniforms for me and everyone accepted to let me be.
Beauty routine Nothing spectacular but I love to let my skin breathe. Role models Every good person motivates and challenges me to be an improvement of my old self. Favourite food I love fruits. Fitness Routine I’d rather ather say, it is the grace of God and exercise.
Aspirations as a child To be honest my aspirations varied as I grew up but most importantly my thought was focused on being successful. Every serious minded person aims at success. I always had such thoughts running through my mind. Most cherished gift from husband It’s difficult to single out one. I cherish every gift he has given to me. Favorite travel destination I love any location that is lovely and serene; that’s relaxing and refreshing. Best form of relaxation It depends mostly on mood, but listening to good gospel music is one of the ways I relax. Joys of motherhood Basically the joy is identifying talents and peculiarities of each child and working together with them to see God’s best in their lives at the end of it all.
I HAVE MANY OF SUCH MEMORIES.

TRENDY FOOTWEAR FOR THE RAINY SEASON I by JAMILA ILIYASU
nvest in flip flops, flats, sandals and sneakers that will give you the freedom to run, dance and revel in the rain. Going with elaborate footwear like heels, stilettos or wedges is not advisable as they will sink in the mushy, wet ground and restrict your movement. Rubber foot wear comes in so many exciting forms these days which is great because they’re the best thing for the rainy season. Rubber footwear isn’t just restricted to rubber sandals anymore, now there are flat shoes and even stylish pumps that are all made of rubber. Go for flat strappy sandals, ballerinas and flip flops that would not spoil in the rain. So invest in sturdy jellies and save your non-rubber shoes for the dry season.

If you have never tried this dish it could turn out to be a favourite. The tenderness succulence of lamb minced and marinated with fresh Indian spices, carefully rolled onto skewers and roasted. Thinking about it alone would make your mouth water thirsting for more. Wakkis would never deprive you the privilege of enjoying this meal with some steamed basmati rice with a side of gravy sauce.
SEEKH KEBAB (MINCED LAMB) INGREDIENTS USED IN SEEKH KEBAB GREEN CHILLI PEPPERS: Green chillies are immature peppers that have been harvested before fully ripening. They are low in calories, virtually fat-free and rich in nutrients that can enhance your health, including vitamins A, C and K and capsaicin. The consumption of green chillies helps in releasing saliva which aids digestion. Here at Wakkis we like it Hot! Hot! Hot! CORIANDER LEAVES: They are also green but have a very strong alluring aroma. Save up space with unique bathroom savers by MULIKATU MUKAILA
B
athroom could turn out as comforting and welcoming as a proper living room if you give it a little beauty touch by accessorizing it as you also create extra space for free movement. It is always very essential for you not to stuff your bathroom with too much items because of the atmosphere as bathrooms could be cold, creating a damp smell all over. In this case, you create space in your bathroom where you can keep your toiletries and other items on either a standing or a wooding shelf hanged on the wall; this doesn’t only beautify the bathroom, it gives room for more ventilation, removing any damp smell from the environs of the closet. When your bathroom is well organized, you are likely to be free from dirt and even house pests as they don’t have a hideout because of the space you have created by making beautiful closets which you can store your personal belongings; so try giving your bathroom an amazing look.

B E AU T Y Easy Steps to Make-up Perfection by PRISCA EKOKUJE-EMADU
M
any women are probably familiar with the core rule of blending makeup: Apply foundation beyond your jaw line, down to your neck to prevent having a mask. This beauty commandment is very crucial but is just a tip of the iceberg when it comes to blending makeup. Every component of makeup work together to create a flawless face, but you won’t have a flawless look if they are not blended properly. Here are simple tips to get a well-blended make-up face: Moisturize your face: A clean moisturized face is the key to having a good blend of makeup on the face, this would make the face ready for makeup, especially if you have an oily or scary face. Using concealer: The concealer should be applied under the eye and on any blemish you may have on the face. Applying foundation: This could be a breaker or maker to your overall blending. Your skin type should dictate the type of foundation - a wrong foundation would spoil any makeup, no matter how hard you try to blend. It’s mandatory that you apply your foundation well, so that the rest of the makeup can synchronize. Apply your foundation from the middle and blend out. Make sure you apply it in thin layers so you don’t end up having a cake face. Eye shadow: Blending eye shadows works only in one direction: outward. Don’t sweep the brush roughly, it would make your work look shabby. You can use different colours but they should have their defined areas. Confine your blending to the lines in two colours. Lipstick/ Lip liner: A lip liner must match either your lip stick or the colour of your lips. Lastly, when you are done blending, apply a light dusting of powder.
