FOR THE HOME
Popular expression “my house is my castle” used to be taken literally. Our contemporaries do not need to build protective walls or dig moats around their dwellings. Yet, even nowadays this proverb does not lose its relevance - its meaning has just been slightly shifted. Our home is a place where we feel good and safe, where we can relax and unwind from the bustle of the outer world, where every detail, every shelf and cushion reflects our understanding of comfort, convenience and beauty.
Of course creating such a place is not an easy task since the market offers mostly standard mass production items. Those who like non-standard things have a hard time finding what they need. But there is a solution. What can help you make your home unique yet comfortable is the wide range of handmade products. Things made by craftsmen by hand from natural materials and with the help of old technologies possess a special kind of energy that fills your home and creates a beneficial atmosphere. Manual work is always in fashion, especially if the object is created by masters who are in love with their trade. These products let you easily create a unique décor that reflects your personality. Surrounding yourself with handmade items you improve the quality of your life. These beautiful products will

enhance your mood and give you positive energy. They are filled with the warmth of the hands of their creators and convey positive and kind thoughts. Manual work is not just the creative endeavour of those people who come up with unique ideas and implement them into beautiful objects. This is your creative endeavour as well. Looking at unique household items and buying decorations for your home you also participate in the creative process by transforming and harmonizing your living space. Handmade objects also make a great gift for those who are dear to you. They will become perfect presents for housewarmings, birthdays, weddings or major holidays. A unique decoration for the home, tableware, home textiles or unusual furniture will accentuate your special feelings and give your loved ones the joy not only for the occasion but also in everyday life when they will keep enjoying your thoughtful gift.

Vintage Mood: Add an Aura of Antiquity to Your Place Cont’d
Lamps – a direct reflection of the period style Vintage lamps can harmoniously complement virtually any interior adding gentle and touching notes. Traditionally, vintage lamps come with white frusto-conical shades and a massive metal or crystal base of a floral shape. Less common but still valid are more ornate shapes with glass shades, painting and inlays. Therefore, finding the right model is not difficult.
Do not forget patterned doilies and black-and-white photographs. If you have decided on a vintage style interior, the abundance of textiles, crocheted
doilies, decorative pillows, tablecloths and slipcovers is vital. Heavy plates, porcelain teapots and other household items made in the last century will create the right mood. Antique dolls and worn books in thick binding will create the right mood. Framed black and white photographs and tall metal candlesticks impart the right note. To complete the picture, pinch-hang floral curtains and install a canopy over the bed.
Total Immersion If the décor is not enough for creating the right look it is possible to resort to drastic measures and bring everything in the room to the framework of vintage style. Let’s start with the ceiling: it has to be light - white or beige. No suspended structures, only painting. Mouldings are permitted. Small scuffs and slightly cracked paint are a perfect solution! For the floors use authentic or artificially aged wood planks. Old-style ceramic tiles will do. Paper your walls in a medium-sized delicate floral pattern, graceful butterflies or pastoral scenes. Or you may prefer Oriental style wallpaper. Whichever solution you chose you can be sure that your “vintage” efforts will bring you joy and fill your house with magic!

ZONING AND BY-LAWS What you should know before you plan your construction project! “Zoning” is an instrument used by local governments for urban planning. Urban planners designate the appropriate use of land for which their respective Municipality holds enforceable powers. In other words, it pertains to the restrictions allocated to each parcel of land throughout all territories across the country. Your home is subject to these restrictions and if you are planning a construction project which proposes to either alter the exterior dimensions (e.g. building an addition or deck) or the use of land, your first trip should be to the City Building and Planning department to obtain the pertinent zoning information for your property.
ation of any design concepts which may be affected by zoning restrictions. In the event that such restrictions infringe on the proposed design, there are possible remedies aside from amending the design to “fit” within the constraints set. The Committee of Adjustments is the regulatory body of the planning department consisting of citizen members who review and decide upon applications brought forth by property owners or their representatives who wish to amend or alter the existing constraints of zoning as it relates to their property. Such applications are typically classified under two categories: Minor Variances and Consents.
The purpose of zoning is twofold. It is foremost used as a means to segregate uses of land that are thought to be incompatible (imagine a nuclear plant next door to your home). Secondly, it is used to preserve the “character” of a community. The second criteria is met by establishing restrictions on density, the height of buildings, the space that structures may occupy, setbacks (the location of the building in relation to the lot), the area of landscaped surfaces, parking spaces, etc.
A “Minor Variance” relates to an application that proposes a small change to the zoning restrictions and a “Consent” typically relates to altering the use of land. Applications can take anywhere from a few months to over a year to be processed.
Designers such as architects use zoning and by-law information to establish the parameters of construction prior to the cre-

Remember, your local municipality holds jurisdiction over your property and holds the power to enforce zoning and by-law restrictions. ange, yellow, and red. Buy a new colour shade. Winter calls for fruity shades of apricot, peach and orange.
To fight early dusk, use fluorescent lights. They will banish fatigue and sleepiness and make your active day longer. Use decorative colourful lamps to add some warmth to your evening at home.
If there is no fireplace replace it by candles to achieve the same goal. Here you can give rein to your imagination: coloured or floating candles on tables, windowsills and shelves, melted candles on a metal tray on the floor, candles in sconces on the walls... Choose scented candles of interesting shapes; in order to enhance their effect place them near a mirror, a dark window or the reflective surfaces of furniture.
Arrange the maximum number of various hanging and integrated lamps and sconces around the room. If you worry about wasting electricity use low-wattage bulbs – it will be enough for creating a pleasant atmosphere in the house! You can also use a special dye for light bulbs or buy pre-coloured ones – or-
In the winter, we all strive for warmth and coziness but sometimes to achieve this goal simple insulation of windows and doors is not sufficient. Among the added measures aimed to create an air of warmth are various visual tricks and deceptions as well as experimentation with light, colour and accessories. There are some proven techniques to make your home pleasing and warm. LIGHTING First of all, winter means a diminished amount of daylight that is necessary to keep us in a positive

Do not limit yourself to artificial light alone. If you have a fireplace, kindle the fire in it; not only it will warm up the room, it will also create a cozy atmosphere.
TONES AND SHADES While the fall gives us natural warm colours, the onset of cold weather turns the picture into a black-and-white photo. This is why it is so important to create a spring/summer colour scale inside our living space. Bright and dynamic colours look great. Choose pale peach or apricot hues for the dominant colour and add to it accents in more, deep and vibrant tones such as terracotta, ocher, and muted red.
TEXTILES What gives a final touch to your visual insulation is an abundance of fabric. We are talking furniture covers, cushions, curtains, rugs, and throws. You can use soft fabrics or throws to cover chairs and sofas or - ideally - a furry blanket that not only transforms the room but can serve as a wrap if needed. Add various decorative pillows scattered on a sofa or directly on the floor. They can be made of fur and decorated with tassels and embroidery.

FRAMEWORK: Outside and Inside Today, the term framework refers not only to the structure proper but also to a construction method. Sometimes, it is even mentioned as an architectural style. In German, this type of construction is called fachwerk in which fach is a section and werk is structure. Thus, the term means sectional construction.
BUILDING A FRAMEWORK HOUSE
These buildings that look like gingerbread houses from fairy tales enchant visitors to Western Europe and are an attraction in themselves. Construction of framework houses has originated in Germany where these charming structures are the most common. Framework houses add to the appeal of old Europe, no matter whether they are authentically old or have been constructed recently. WHAT IS A FRAMEWORK HOUSE? Framework is a building structure of a specific type. Simply put, it is a rigid frame made of girders. The frame is formed by a system of horizontal, vertical and diagonal elements: beams, rods, and braces. The gaps are filled with any material. At first it used to be clay, adobe or stone but in today’s construction modern insulation is used. The exterior of the building
10
ALL ABOUT HOME
The basis of the construction technology has remained almost unchanged despite the fact that the framework concept has been in existence for over five hundred and, by different accounts, even thousands of years. The framework tradition is alive and keeps developing thanks to modern architects and builders. Just as it used to be centuries ago, the house is built on a hard wooden frame, only instead of the traditional timber a bonded one is increasingly used as a more durable.
may be decorated in many ways. Again, at the beginning it used to be left “as is” but later they started facing the walls with brick and plaster or, when affordable, with wood. Today, the variety of exterior finishes is much wider. Exterior walls are sheathed in moisture-resistant material and decorated according to the owner’s personal preferences: faced with brick, natural stone or wood paneling, etc. However, one thing remains constant: the frame stays exposed. Even when the exterior walls are plastered and stained the frame is untouched. Beams, pillars, rods and braces attractively isolate the walls of the house giving them a special appeal and glamour. This is the main feature of the framework style. Framework houses traditionally have a gabled or pyramidal roof.
e-mail: aahtoronto@gmail.com
The wooden frame is quite lightweight, which does not press upon the soil exceedingly. This means that a framework house can be constructed over an inexpensive shallow foundation. The space between the elements of the frame is filled with effective insulation or fiberglass. One of the important advantages of the today’s framework is that it opens great possibilities associated with glazing. If desired, you can glaze the whole wall. The interior of the framework house can be done in any style, from German country to modern minimalism. In the first case, the beams should be artificially aged, more wood trim used, floors covered in wooden planks or antique imitation tiles. Fill such a house with solid massive furniture in retro style, use rough textiles and hand-woven rugs. Hide modern appliances behind cabinet fronts. Order a pot-bellied stove and enjoy the comfort and charm of old Europe.

interiors in Empire or Baroque style. Velvet upholstery especially if it is silky indeed adds certain monumentality to a furniture piece. Thus in a small room a velvet-upholstered sofa may look inappropriate and brightly coloured velvet curtains will make the room look even smaller.
ATTENTION, VELVET! Velvet is a fabric with a soft fleecy surface and a smooth reverse side. In ancient times, velvet was manufactured exclusively from silk and considered an upscale fabric. Today it can be woven from silk, cotton, viscose and various synthetics fibres. Of course velvet made of natural silk or cotton looks classier than the one made of synthetic textile. On the other hand, synthetic fabrics are significantly cheaper. In any case, today, velvet is available to all. The attitude towards velvet though has not changed much: the fabric is still considered noble. Using velvet in interior decoration calls for caution, especially in the case of a shiny iri-

descent fabrics known as panné or crushed velvet, velour, etc. Such velvet if done up in deep saturated colours looks absurd when used extensively, e.g. for curtains or upholstery. Fleecy velvet is more versatile in a neutral pattern or pastel colours. For example, the upholstery in pearl grey will look much better than one in burgundy or emerald. If for some reason you have to use brightly coloured velvet for furniture at least use a non-glossy fabric. To avoid an effect of theatricality abandon the idea of rich velvet curtains, opting for nap-free textiles.

e-mail: aahtoronto@gmail.com
If you decide to combine two velvet items in a single room – which is not advisable – make sure that one of them is considerably smaller than the other. For example, you can place a sofa and an ottoman upholstered in velvet in the living room or a velvet headboard in the bedroom and a vanity stool covered in the same fabric. If you fill your room with velvet (sofa, armchairs, ottomans, curtains, pillows, etc.) not only will it look too heavy but it will also create a dusty and old-fashioned atmosphere. Small furniture items covered in brightly coloured velvet make glorious accents. Velvet perfectly combines with leather, silk, lace and smooth cotton. A velvet cushion on a rough leather chair will add a touching look. Cushions in velvet and lace cases add a romantic note and neutral velvet drapes beautifully match sheers of chiffon, organza, etc. Do not be afraid to combine velvet with other textiles. Remember: the wider is the variety of textures in the room the more interesting and cozy it looks.

Choosing a Chandelier of the most important principles of design is striving for balance. Colour chandeliers look natural in the interiors in modern and minimalist style with calm and mostly neutral palette and just a few elegant details; or in children’s rooms.
The chandelier is like a piece of jewellery on a woman: you can do without it but with a properly selected item the image becomes complete. The chandelier is a similarly bright touch that adds brilliance and luxury to the room décor.
WHITE CHANDELIER A white chandelier on a white ceiling makes the look classic. If you are not sure which colour to give preference to, choose a white chandelier, either transparent or opaque. You can’t go wrong!
BLACK CHANDELIER Being a lighting fixture is not the only function of the chandelier because even in the daylight when it is not used for its direct objective this article attracts attention. The chandelier can emphasize style, help zone the space, be the focal point or serve as an accent. Therefore, the task of shopping for the right chandelier should be taken seriously. Today’s topic will relate to the color of the chandelier rather than its size or style.
Black chandeliers suit interiors in such styles as Gothic, Art Deco, glamour, Baroque and achromatic minimalism. In Gothic, glamour, Baroque and Art Deco interiors a black chandelier will produce a dramatic chamber atmosphere. This element is spectacular and will not go unnoticed.
COLOUR OR NEUTRAL ONE? Which chandelier should you choose - a neutral transparent white or a colour one? The rule is that the chandelier should match the décor. Take into account the style, colour palette and the proportion of details and textures. A traditional neutral chandelier made of metal, wood, glass or crystal perfectly suits a classic interior décor. A neutral chandelier can be white, transparent white, cream, bronze, silver, gold, brown and such. This is preferable for the interior filled with many diverse elements, textures, prints and colours. After all, one

A black chandelier plays a different role in a modern minimalist décor: its contrast with light surfaces emphasizes the whiteness, purity, and serenity of the room.
RED AND PINK CHANDELIERS This makes a passionate and sensual accent in a glamour, Baroque and modern interiors. A chandelier in these colours can outshine the rest of the room. This fact should be taken into consideration when choosing the colour. Red and pink chandeliers are good for kitchens as these are “delicious” “dessert” colours. Such a chandelier will share its tone with foods making them more appetizing. In the bedroom these colours are not very desirable; a black one will suit the room much better. On the other hand, in the room of a young girl this colour will be perfect – your princesses will adore it. Purple, orange and turquoise chandeliers will become the subject of the next installment of this article. Don’t miss it!

I CAN’T BELIEVE MY EYES, OR NEW CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGIES
Part 2
Solid Buildings Made of Paper The ancient Japanese tradition of building houses out of paper has been alive and well for a few hundred years. Of course, not the structural frames but only internal walls. Yet, Japanese architect Shigeru Ban has taken the idea further and started capital construction using cardboard. Ban has begun the practice with temporary structures - small, easily erectable houses for victims of natural disasters and military operations. The carcass for these buildings was made of cardboard tubes intertwined to ensure a strong enough structure. But with time Shigeru Ban has progressed so far in the implementation of this technology that he began to build large capital buildings out of paper tubes. One example of such a structure is a cardboard temple of John the Baptist in the New Zealand city of Christchurch. The church that had been built on the same spot earlier on was destroyed by the earthquake in 2011, and it took the Japanese architect slightly more than a year to construct a new building that became one of the most beautiful and unusual religious structures in the world.

Many people have trouble sleeping. Some have difficulties falling asleep at night while others wake up at dawn and are unable to go back to sleep. You toss and turn, fluff up the pillow, wrap the blanket around your body but the long-awaited relief does not happen. Sounds familiar? The problem is the inability to calm your nerves. Of course, you can resort to prescription sedatives or sleeping pills, but these do not solve the problem; they just give you a temporary relief. Before resorting to medication try to take the matter into your own hands and change the situation. Design of your bedroom and items in it play an important role. Are you sure that nothing in the bedroom interferes with your sleep? That you have arranged everything as to be conducive of full relaxation? Let’s see.
CORRECT DESIGN AS A REMEDY FOR INSOMNIA In order to feel the urge to sleep your body needs to produce melatonin. The production of this hormone is closely connected to lighting. To enable a good sleep the bedroom has to be dark. All you need for achieving this goal is a thick drape. You can do your window dressing in layers –

Sweet Dreams! sheers for daytime and dense curtains for the night. If you rest your choice on blinds they, too, better be dark. Try not to turn on a bright light later than an hour before bedtime. If reading in bed or watching TV, use muted illumination in order to maintain dim lighting in the room. In the summer when daylight lasts longer a sleeping mask may come in handy. As long as your eyes are surrounded by darkness your epiphysis will produce the desired dose of melatonin.
A COMFORTABLE BED AS A KEY TO A GOOD SLEEP Are you aware of the important role a good mattress plays? Sleeping on an uncomfortable couch or a cheap mattress is a crime against your health. A so-called orthopedic mattress is a must have for those who have trouble sleeping. Pillows with some certain synthetic filler can quickly become deformed. If the pillow is uncomfortable you have to fluff it often thus interrupting the process of relaxation.

THE RIGHT COLOURS AS A REMEDY FOR INSOMNIA A bedroom done up in white or light beige looks elegant but is not conducive of good sleep. If your have insomnia problems you need to sleep in a room with dark walls - blue, green, gray, purple, black, brown, etc. Green is considered to be the most calming colour. If you are nervous and cannot relax because of anxiety, restlessness or oppressive memories, paint your bedroom green. Shades of green can be combined with brown, gray, smoky pink or blue. Arrange the room in spa style and it will appease you. If you do not like green, you can give preference to blue.
SCENTS TO FIGHT INSOMNIA Aromatize your bedroom. Aromatherapy is effective in dealing with stress and insomnia. Prefer such scents as lavender, Roman chamomile, sage, ylang-ylang, balm and rose. They have a calming and sedative effect. Good night!

Decorating with Mosaic
Mosaic, unlike other decorating materials, is strictly individual and unique. Today’s interior design specialists use mosaic not only in washrooms. The wide variety of its types makes it a choice material for kitchens, hallways, dining rooms, porches and sunrooms.
TYPES OF MOSAIC
The use of mosaic in interior design is experiencing a rebirth. This decorative material has made a confident transition from hotel and spa lobbies, exhibition halls and swimming pools into today’s homes and apartments.
Ceramic mosaic is the most common type of modern home decorating. It is used for tiling floors and walls in kitchens, bathrooms and pools and for facing buildings. It is durable, resistant to abrasion and can withstand aggressive cleaning agents. However, unglazed mosaic is susceptible to germs and bacteria that can live in its porous structure. To avoid this health hazard it is recommended to use low porosity types of ceramic mosaic. Glass mosaic is used to decorate kitchens, bathrooms, pools, stairs and facades. Enamel mosaic is characterized by shock resistance, cold resistance and resistance to cleaning agents. Owing to these qualities, it is often laid on floors. Enamel mosaic for interior decoration comes in over ten thousand colours. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that even though it is opaque it creates an effect of inner glow. Of course, this only trompe-l’œil but it looks fascinating. Enamel mosaic will complement any modern décor. Stone mosaic is manufactured from natural stone. The cost of this type of modern home decoration depends on the raw material that varies from a relatively inexpensive sinter to the upscale marble and jade. Advantages of Decorating with Mosaic - It always enriches the décor; - It has a wonderful ability to change the scale of a modern home thanks to the play of light and shades; - Damaged spots can be easily repaired or replaced without affecting the overall structure; - Mosaic is easy to clean. - It matches any wall covering, including wallpaper, paint, simulated or real brickwork, etc.; - It helps smooth right angles and hide the shortcomings of the room.

NEON BOOK COLLECTION To the regret of older generations, in this era of modern technology, smart phones and tablets many young people find paper books pretty boring compared to other forms of entertainment. A South Korean artist has decided to deal with the problem in a radical way. This creative designer transformed the traditional appearance of the book, making it brighter and more cheerful. Now a book is not just literature but also a vibrant décor element shimmering with neon colors and creating an atmosphere of fantasy right at home. Airan Kang is a South Korean artist who has come up with an incredibly exciting and interesting idea of a radical conversion of traditional paper books into glowing neon lamps. The luminescent books presented by the designer not only carry certain information but can also serve as a stylish and bright design accent. With the use of transparent synthetic resins and LED images book covers and pages become decorative neon elements. Kang has released a series of amazing books that emit coloured lights. As a result, a library with a dull traditional interior may well look like a modern nightclub. It is worth noting that Airan Kang is not the first person who turned the book into a glowing object. “Book Lamp” by designer Zheyan Hong is a lamp in the shape of a traditional paper book.
EXPIRATION DATE
or What is due to go to the trash Nothing lasts forever in this world, nothing – from vitamins to mattresses, from make-up to appliances – N-O-T-H-I-N-G! Let’s walk around your home and decide which of our possessions are short-lived and which, can live longer. BEDROOM Lower Your Risk of Allergies. Replace your pillows every year. While we sleep, our pillow absorbs skin oils, particles of the night cream, shampoo, mousses and gels used on our face and hair during the day. We toss and turn, pressing all these ‘treasures’ deeper and deeper into the pillow where they are becoming nutrients for bacteria and dust mites. Using the thickest pad under your pillowcase, while extending the pillow’s life, will not prolong it beyond a couple of years at best. Sleep Tight. Replace your mattress every five to ten years. Ideally, a high-quality mattress is good for nine to ten years but if you are restless in your sleep, if you toss and turn, replace even the best quality mattress no later than after five to seven years of use.
Block Food Bacteria. No cook can do without a cutting board. Its age has no bearing on its quality while its cleanliness does – that is in the case of wood or glass boards. Plastic boards need to be replaced at least once every six months. To avoid contamination, wash the board in hot water with detergent, and then rinse with vinegar dissolved in water. Leave for five minutes, rinse with running water, and dry with a clean towel. These procedures will kill even the worst bacteria including salmonella and E-coli. You need more than one cutting board in the kitchen – at least one for raw food and one for cooked dishes. Vegetables and meat are best cut on a glass board.
KITCHEN
BATHROOM
Take Your Vitamins while they are effective. Toss the vitamins and supplements that are eighteen months old even though the label proclaims them to be effective for two or three years. After the container’s seal has been broken, the contents should be kept no longer than twelve months.
Keep Your Eyes Open. Change your contact lenses cleaning solution regularly. While in your eyes, the lenses gather myriads of microbes from your tear fluid and the environment. Still, bacteria from the environment can easily get into the cleaning solution, especially when the top is not screwed on properly or the container is left completely open. To avoid infection, replace the solution every three months.
The Purest Water. Household water filters can serve 20% longer than claimed in the instruction manual. The reason is in the reserve, provided by the manufacturer
24
in case the consumer forgets to change the cartridge on time. Also, the amount of water these filters can purify is a time and half higher than specified in the instruction manual.

A Hollywood Smile. Replace your toothbrush every three to four months. Dentists recommend disposing of even the most advanced - vibrating or ‘360-degrees’ models after the above-mentioned life term because during this period the bristles manage to collect enough bacteria to cause caries. The Age of Beauty. When your mascara reaches the age of six month, consider it old. Dispose of mascara, eyeliner, and eye shadows half a year after you have started using them because their applicators and brushes tend to pick up the dust and bacteria accumulated on your eyelids and lashes. Other make-up products have a longer life - for example, foundation and toner, up to two years while dry products, like powder and pencils, up to three years. No Flakes. Dandruff shampoo keeps its qualities for years because most of the shampoos for skin and scalp problems contain antibacterial agents that increase their longevity. Nevertheless, if you like diluting your shampoo with water do it in a separate container – should you add water into the original container, your shampoo will lose its protective qualities. Medicinal Alcohol. This one definitely has no “good before” date. Alcohol will kill microbes for many many years even after the bottle has been opened. Any domestic detergent containing alcohol is “good before” its container is empty.

UNEXPECTED VISITORS: EXPRESS CLEANING Unexpected visitors – if they are people you like of course – can be a joyful and exciting surprise. However, the short notice can put you in a squeeze – especially if your home is an artistic mess. Find below a few tips for an express tidying and cleaning. PRIORITIZE There are certain indicators of cleanliness that people notice first. Hardly anyone would notice dusty book covers but a dirty toilet and a mountain of unwashed dishes in the sink will immediately catch the visitor’s eye. - If there is no time to bother with cleaners and rubber gloves just moisten a few paper towels with water or alcohol and wipe the toilet bowl;
26
ALL ABOUT HOME
- Shove the accumulated dirty dishes into the dishwasher without rinsing them first; - To clean the kitchen sink simply pour some dish detergent into it and go over it with a brush.
When the emergency guest situation has been dissolved you can put everything in its proper place in a calmer environment; - Spray potted plants with water to give them a fresh and elegant look.
OUT OF BOUNDS!
ATTITUDE IS WHAT MATTERS!
As a rule, unexpected guests see the bathroom, kitchen and living room. That means that cleaning the bedroom, office or nursery can be delayed.
For most visitors cleanliness of the house is not as important as feeling that they are welcome in your home no matter how clean and tidy it is and that you are genuinely happy to have them over. Little signs of attention will go a long way to overweigh some flaws in the order and cleanliness department.
- Unless your visitors are accompanied by small children who love crawling on the floor, limit yourself with vacuuming the floor in the reception area instead of mopping it; - If there is no time to arrange the mess into a creative disorder simply pick up whatever is scattered on the floor and other surfaces, place it in a big bag and store in a closet.
e-mail: aahtoronto@gmail.com
- Hang fresh hand towels in the bathroom; - Replace used soap bar with a new one; - Have fresh guest slippers ready. Slippers are not expensive but new and clean ones will be greatly appreciated.
