Duration: c. 5 minutes Instrumentation: solo viola Programme Note This piece was written at the beginning of the pilot of the London Symphony Orchestra Soundhub Scheme. Embedded in the ‘Soundhub’ scheme is the idea of a community of collaborating composers. With this in mind, we decided to each write a short movement of this work, and each based our compositions (in various ways) upon a piece violist Paul Silverthrone was already playing in the recital: Britten’s Lachrymae.
Though we are three very different composers, we hope that this unified starting point connects this works in an organic way that can be heard in performance.
