Home Business Marketing Strategies 102 – Catching BIG Fish for Your Business. But first, a very important, quick story: Not too long ago, my son made this nifty little fishing rod from some supplies he found in his desk at school. He taped a ruler, some string, and a paper clip together to to resemble a rod, line & hook – pretty simple kid stuff. And then, over breakfast the next day, he told me that all he needed now was a worm, so that he could start doing some fishing! I agreed – but mentioned that only if the fish where he wanted to fish, actually like worms. He said, “Don’t all fish like worms?” I replied, “Well, certain ones do. But certain ones don’t. For example, some fish will respond more to other types of fish. Some will be attracted to what are called, lures. Some even bread, corn, even just a hook”. And I went on to explain… “It all depends on what type of fish you are looking to catch, what they like and how hungry they are. In other words – if they like what you offer, and it solves their problem, because they are already looking, they bite, chew and eventually, swallow the hook. I continued, “So, if we want to catch a minnow, we should use minnow bait – a shark, we’d have to use shark bait – and to catch a whale, we’d have to use whale bait.” I said, “The bottom line, son, is that to catch a BIG fish, you’ve gotta fish in DEEP water.” >>> End of Story<<<
Ok, so in Home Business Marketing Strategy 101, we talked about your Market’s Avatar, which clearly defines the perfect website visitor, lead, prospect or customer for your business. Now today, in Lesson #2, we’re talking about… Your Message to Market ‘Match’. This is what you must say to your market, so that you can: – Reduce tension and increase cooperation
– Create a desire in them to become a part of your project, team, or whatever you’re marketing. – Compel them to take action This is how all successful businesses work. Because when people feel relaxed, and at ease, through every stage of your marketing & sales process, there’s a much greater chance that they’ll buy whatever it is you advertise, market and sell. And even if they don’t right away, they’ll stick around and stay plugged in long enough so that when they are truly ready, you are the one they come to. Whether they see your ad, click on a banner, open an email, read your website, article, press release, status update, watch your video or get on the phone with you – or any and all of the above…
Here’s what’s important… You want to know more about your prospect than you even know about your product. Because this alone, will allow you to construct what is called… >>> Your Message <<< Which when packaged and told correctly, will create a response from your market that: – Creates a bond – Presents itself as a “Solution” for them – Compels them to want to own what you’re offering And when you do this effectively, you have what’s called… A Message to Market Match.
So, how do you make your message match your market so that you get your desired result? Well, FIRST, you must know your market well, which is what we covered in Strategy 101. SECOND… You want to share your information in a simple, yet entertaining STORY, that speaks directly to your market and brings them from a place called Apathy, where they don’t know much about you, your product, service or company – to a place called, “Purchase Readiness”. This is where they feel an ‘emotional’ connection with you. And then, they take interest in your product, service or opportunity, and how it can benefit them. Because at the end of the day, people only care about two things: #1 – What’s in this for them? #2 – Will this work to solve their problem(s)? And as long as you are coming from a sincere place of contribution, where you really care about others
and how your product, service, or opportunity can positively impact their life, and not just when they buy it to make your life better – they will respond. In other words, people will know whether or not you truly do care – make no mistake about this. And as cliche as this might sound, people don’t care about how much you know, until they know how much you care.
THIS is the secret to creating a strong Message to Market Match. Because if they feel that you are just in it for yourself, it doesn’t matter how good your product, service or opportunity is – because they just won’t buy. Not now. Not later. So, when you truly do care about people, they know it and then, your message is not only heard, but felt and experienced. But it all originates from your interest in THEM. And your story is where it all begins, meaning, how you tell the story of your experiences, letting your market know the pain YOU felt before you came across the solution that they are now looking at. Or, how others have experienced a solution with it. Either way, you want to make sure that what you are offering, is exactly what your market wants, needs and can afford. And as long as you’ve done your homework and know how your offer is going to benefit them, you’ve got a Message to Market Match. It doesn’t have to be long – just on target. Because when your marketing is done right, and your story is perfectly matched with your ‘market’, the selling part is a piece of cake – because very little is actually required. Just like in Marketing Strategy 101.
THIS is the key. And in Strategy 103, we’re going to dive into the most important type of marketing. It’s not Network Marketing or Web 2.0 Marketing… It’s ___________ Marketing.
