Notice how my ‘backstory’, always comes first… ++++++++++++++ I used to be a Network Marketing Junkie. And didn’t know much about real home business marketing strategies.
Jumping from one company to another. Thinking that the grass was always greener. Kept me broke for a while when I didn’t know any better. The pain was enormous. Behind in bills. Up to my ears in debt. Creditors calling. Constant stress & worry about how I was going to keep my head above water.
I was in Home Business Hell… But then I realized that ‘those who last, always finish first’. And…I changed up a few KEY strategies that I was using to build my business. As a result, I went on to make millions once I picked a company and stuck with it. It wasn’t even in MLM that I made this money.
It was AFTER MLM that I finally learned what I was doing WRONG all those years: – Making a list. – Pitching family & friends. – Cold calling leads – Handing out brochures – Passing out CDs & Business Cards But although I left MLM and started a new business with a completely different business model…
The PROBLEM was that I thought everyone wanted and needed my product and I didn’t really know any home business marketing strategies. So I wasted a TON of time, money, and energy on people who didn’t want, didn’t need and couldn’t afford what I was selling. Of course, for the right product, and the right opportunity – the right person always finds a way to come up with the money. But most of the people I were talking to weren’t even the right people.
And THAT was another problem. Because when you think that EVERYBODY is in your target market, you market to everybody. But when you market to EVERYBODY, you really market to NOBODY. And when you do this, your scope becomes too wide, your message becomes weak, and doesn’t have an impact.
It’s like the difference between shooting with a shotgun and a rifle. When you shoot with a shotgun, the tiny pellets (called ‘shot’) spray wide, which means you don’t have to be very accurate to hit something, or someone. But the problem is that the further the distance that the ‘shot’ travels from the gun, the less of an impact it has on it’s target when it hits.
Which is why hardly anyone I spoke with, was interested enough to be committed, when I was using those old, worn out, pre-internet home business marketing methods. When you use a rifle, you get one bullet, one shot and a very direct line of fire. Sure, you may miss sometimes, but when you get good, you don’t just hit your target, you destroy it. And this is how you must market. And you’ve gotta clear the path to your target, before you start shooting. So, how do you take this information and turn it to YOUR advantage? Well, first things first.
You’ve gotta KNOW who is in your target market. You’ve gotta know who is already looking for what you offer – the PERFECT prospect, ready to buy what you’re selling. Because it fills a need of theirs, solves a problem, and presents a SOLUTION. In other words, you need to know what’s already going on inside your market’s mind, and just simply ‘join the conversation’.
This is the KEY [I'll come back to this in a minute] Now, if you remember the movie, ‘Avatar’, some pretty slick scientists figured out a way to combine the mind of a human, with the body of a big blue creature. For the movie’s purpose, a human mind PLUS this big blue body equaled the perfect combination necessary to befriend the Omaticayan people of Pandora and become one of them, by living with them and learning their ways. The reason the scientists wanted to do this, was to amicably get the Omaticayan people to move away from their land so that the scientists could mine it for diamonds. Well it’s no different with your business. You’ve got to befriend your target market, get to know them, and their ways. You see, it’s more important that you know more about your prospect, than even your product. Because when you know how to market to them, it’s easy to sell to them. Just like the more the big blue creatures befriended the real Omaticayan people, the more influence they
had with them.
In your Marketing Business, this is also called, creating an Avatar. In other words, creating the ideal or perfect ‘Prospect’ for your business. By doing this, you will know exactly who you are marketing to. And this way, when you shoot, your chances of hitting your ‘target’, are that much greater, which will not only save you time, effort, energy and money, but, you will be able to make a lot more money when you follow this marketing strategy.
Here are 4 Questions that you must answer when creating your Perfect Prospect’s Avatar: 1. Who are they? 2. What do they do? 3. What do they want? 4. What is stopping them from getting it? The more detailed you get when answering these questions, the better marketing you can create, and the more quality a website visitor you will attract, a lead you will generate, a customer you will acquire, a member, a client, even a partner you will have for your business. This whole concept of knowing your Market’s Avatar is is one of the most important KEYS to successful marketing. And its exactly how successful marketers are able to work less, and make more. Because they don’t spin their wheels wasting their time with the wrong people. And they don’t burn through money trying to figure out why nobody is buying. When you do this right, the marketing part, the selling part is a piece of cake, because very little is actually required. People will buy from you, without even speaking to you, and then, when you get on the phone with them or meet them in person, you will be having a conversation with a customer, and not just a prospect.
