My friends, before you go attempt to pitch someone on Facebook, on your products, your opportunity, or idea – go hang out at their wall a bit. Read their posts. Find out who they are. Learn about them. Find out what they do. Their likes, dislikes. What they want. What they don’t. Discover what’s interesting to them. Discover what’s interesting ‘about’ them.

Then, find a common ground that you can connect on. Then approach them. I just had to block someone because all they wanted to do was pitch me their “deal”. He even admits not knowing “much” about me. This is the worst possible way to build a relationship – by starting with a focus on your own business. Even if that’s your intention, to market your business on Facebook (which there is nothing wrong with)… … when you are more focused on yourself and making a sale, and not concerned about matching yourself & your product & opportunity with the “right” person, it shows & can be felt by your “prospect”, even if they are not even really a prospect. In other words, a prospect is someone who is in the market for what you are offering, so until you find out for sure, they are just a lead, and perhaps not even a good fit for what you do or have to share with them.
