The Dalí Museum Joins the Fight Against Hunger this Fall. As The Dalí celebrates legendary chef Ferran Adrià (widely known for changing the landscape of gastronomy) and presents the transcendent nature of food in its special exhibition Ferran Adrià: The Invention of Food, the Museum acknowledges that for some, food is not the subject for discourse or experimentation, but a necessity which is all too often lacking. In Pinellas County alone, in which the Museum is located, 1 in 7 adults do not have consistent access to the food they need and 17% of residents, including 1 in 4 children, lack reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. The Dalí will join the fight against hunger with a food drive, collecting non-perishable, high-demand canned food items from November 1-23, 2016. To encourage donations, Dalí Museum visitors donating canned food items will each receive a $2 credit toward adult or senior admission. TheDali.org/Ferran

GREY SALT

Chef Marc Murphy’s Mediterranean Restaurant Story and photos by Melissa Wolcott Martino and Al Martino

G

rey Salt’s Chef Marc Murphy brings his Italian/French roots to the forefront with his Mediterranean style menu. He chose the name of the restaurant to represent a feeling of tranquility. And, surprisingly, the restaurant is quite tranquil considering it is steps away from the Hard Rock’s busy casino. The softly lit interior is oddly reminiscent of a calming seaside place, even though there is no decor to suggest such. Pale blonde wood furniture and white circular banquettes with splashes of royal blue contribute to the vibe. A whole wall of bright yellow lemons in matching clear jars are also an eye catcher. The entrance to the restaurant has a lively bar with local craft beers, international wine selection, and drinks ranging from spiked lemonade up to bottle aged cocktails. Our visit with a group had us tasting a lovely sampling of Chef Marc’s menu. It is our pleasure to share some of this tasty fare with you. (Sorry, figuratively, not literally.) Appetizers were memorable, starting with the Grey Salt Charcuterie, with an array of cheese, salami, honey comb, almonds and mostarda. The Prince Edward Island Mussels in white wine were sublime, and the Meatballs in a spicy ragout had just the right amount of zing. We tried both the Caesar and Heirloom Tomato Salads, and while both were definitely fresh and lovely, the tomato salad stood out with the pairing of juicy colorful tomatoes and mozzarella cheese stuffed with cream. Amazingly flavorful. All of the dishes were artfully prepared to look (almost) as good as they tasted. Our entrees were no exception. Sea Scallops were cooked perfectly and served with charred corn and pistou sauce. Grouper was fished locally so very fresh, and served with tomato and couscous. Filet Mignon au Poivre was as tender and flavorful

as can be, and was served with asparagus and spring onion. Ah, dessert. Out came the Cannoli Trio and the Nutella Profiteroles. Both were just too devine and left a lasting impression. If you happen to be in the Hard Rock Casino, by all means do check Grey Salt out. If you don’t happen to be there, make it a point to make a special trip over. You won’t be sorry. Coming up at Grey Salt: Chef Marc Murphy will host the first “Tampa No Kid Hungry Dinner” on Wednesday, October 5. The dinner will be an exclusive multi-course event to benefit No Kid Hungry‘s work to end childhood hunger in America. It will feature local guest chefs Greg Baker (The Refinery | Fodder & Shine), Michael Buttacavoli (Cena), Courtney Orwig (Haven) and William Gideon (Seminole Hard Rock Tampa). The dinner will be preceded by a cocktail reception and will feature a live auction in which guests can bid on a variety of luxury culinary and travel items. All proceeds from the event support No Kid Hungry’s work to end childhood hunger across the country. Catching Up with Celtic Thunder by Barb McGovern

R

ecently I spoke with Neil Byrne, one of the original members of Celtic Thunder. I had interviewed Neil several years ago when he was in Clearwater, and I wanted to see what the group had been up to since then. Their current tour was the longest tour they have done in the states, and by the time it ends they will have done 72 concerts in various cities. In addition they toured for a month in Australia, plus shows in Ireland and Europe. Celtic Thunder has been entertaining people all over the world since 2007. Several members are original, Neil, Ryan Kelly and Damian McGinty. When I first interviewed Damian about 9 years ago in Tampa, he was a small 15 or 16 year-old with braces. Now he’s pushing 25 and is well over 6 ft. and back with the group after spending time on the hit TV show “Glee.” George Donaldson was a major force in the group. He

58

was a bit older than the rest of the “boys” so he was like the Dad of the group. George died very suddenly a few years ago just after his last tour in Clearwater. The group said the are still trying to process George’s death and during the shows the still feel his presence. RIP George. Celtic Thunder has had amazing success. They grew to be a worldwide sensation in part because of PBS. Now their millions of fans flock to see all their concerts, buy all their recordings and videos and look forward the their cruises. It’s interesting to see the make-up of the audience, from tots to teens, mom and dads and grannies. Their music speaks to everyone even if they’re not Irish! When Celtic Thunder comes to your area, do yourself a favor and get tickets. You won’t be sorry. Also check your PBS stations to see their shows.

Season Takes Off with Acrobats, More

F

rom acrobats to one-handed concertos to good old rock ‘n’ roll, The Florida Orchestra season is off to a wild, wonderful start in October. At the heart of it all is some of the most beloved music of all time performed by the largest professional orchestra in Florida, under the leadership of Music Director Michael Francis. In addition to Sept. 30’s opening night concert with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, just look at the variety of concerts packed into October:

Cirque de la Symphonie (Oct. 7-9 with Saturday matinee): The whole family will flip for the Pops season opener, with cirque-style acrobats, aerialists, strongmen and contortionists performing in front of (and above!) the orchestra as it plays favorites from John Williams, Tchaikovsky, Ravel and more. The Music of Genesis Starring Daryl Stuermer (Oct. 14): Virtuoso guitarist Daryl Stuermer of Genesis rocks out with the orchestra for hits like I Can’t Dance, Invisible Touch, Throwing it All Away and more. One night only at the Mahaffey Theater. Free Pops in the Park (Oct. 15): It’s Star Wars under the stars at the megapopular free concert in waterfront Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg, presented by Ashley HomeStore. This year includes music from two Star Wars movies, the original and The Force Awakens, along with symphonic classics, Broadway hits and an explosive patriotic finale with fireworks. Encore performance Oct. 16 at River Tower Park in Tampa (no fireworks). Jeremy Denk Plays Ravel (Oct. 21-23): See pianist Jeremy Denk use the whole keyboard but only one hand for Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand. Also music by Stravinsky, Dvorak and Strauss. Karina Canellakis conducts. Come one hour early to find out the stories behind the works at the pre-concert conversation. Ray Charles, Motown and Beyond! (Oct. 28-30): “Ambassador of Soul” Ellis Hall pays tribute to the legendary Ray Charles, with hits like Unchain My Heart, Hit the Road Jack and, of course, Georgia on My Mind. Jeff Tyzik conducts. The Florida Orchestra: The Florida Orchestra regularly performs at the Straz Center in Tampa, Mahaffey in St. Petersburg and Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. Masterworks and Pops tickets are $15, $30 and $45. Rock concerts are $35, $50 and $65. Buy at floridaorchestra.org or 727.892.3337 and 1.800.662.7286. www.AccentOnTampaBay.com

COAT OF MANY COLORS by Dolly Parton

Illustrated by Brooke Boynton-Hughes Grosset & Dunlap

C

ountry music legend Dolly Parton brings her beloved classic to life in Coat of Many Colors, a new picture book for young readers with all-new illustrations by Brooke Boynton Hughes and featuring a downloadable exclusive original song by Dolly Parton, “Making Fun Ain’t Funny.” Using lyrics from her classic song “Coat of Many Colors,” and inspired by Parton’s rural upbringing in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, the picture book tells the story of a young girl in need of a warm winter coat. When her mother sews her a coat made of rags, the girl is mocked by classmates for being poor. But Parton’s trademark positivity carries through to the end as the girl realizes that her coat was made with love “in every stitch.” An internationally renowned superstar, Dolly Parton has contributed countless treasures to the world of music entertainment, penning classic songs such as “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and her mega-hit “I Will Always Love You.”

HAUNTED YBOR CITY by Deborah Frethem Haunted America

T

he memorable architecture and fine cigars of Ybor City attract and delight visitors, but locals and tourists aren’t the only ones prowling the city’s narrow brick streets and old nightclubs. Invisible revelers still linger at sites like the Florida Brewing Company, where Eduardo Sandoval seeks revenge from the drunken brawl that killed him in 1896. Jose Marti himself still fights by night for Cuba’s liberation in Parque Amigos de Jose Marti on Eighth Avenue. Grab a Cuban sandwich or a cafe con leche and join local historian Deborah Frethem as she traces the spectral happenings of Florida’s Latin Quarter. Deborah Frethem previously published “Ghost Stories of St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Pinellas County” and “Haunted Tampa: Spirits of the Bay,” along with scripts for historical tours. She is currently a writer, storyteller, and tour guide.

TAMPA BAY BEER: A Heady History by Mark DeNote American Palate

M

ore than thirty breweries currently call the Tampa Bay area home. With a history that spans a century, the brewing industry has experienced highs and lows. The end of Prohibition allowed more to join in on the brewers art. Anheuser-Buschs emergence as a powerhouse caused a decades-long lull in craft brewing beginning in the 1960s. From the ceremonial brewing vessels of native peoples to the sleek brewhouses of modern craft brewers, the Bay area is a shining example of the developing trade. Author Mark DeNote recaps the sudsy history of beer makers in the Big Guava. A native Floridian, Mark DeNote enjoys talking about beer and beer history almost as much as tasting beer. Mark is the author of The Great Florida Craft Beer Guide and Tampa Bay Beer: A Heady History.

TRAVELOGUE

Westgate River Ranch

Not your Grandfather’s Camping Trip by Melissa Wolcott Martino and Al Martino

C

amping, horseback riding, buffalo grazing. Do you have to go all the way to Montana to experience this? Wyoming? Nope. Just a few hours drive from Tampa, smack dab in the middle of Florida, is the Westgate River Ranch, the largest dude ranch East of the Mississippi, and a real Florida hidden gem.

Photos by Melissa unless otherwise indicated 70

T

d

he property went through different incarnations through the years, and became the Westgate River Ranch in 2002. It encompasses 1,700 acres surrounded by around 400,000 acres of protected wetlands and is next to the Kissimmee River. The land WRR sits on was once where the Seminole Indians lived, and early settlers known as “Crackers herded their cattle. Some descendants of the original cattle brought here by Spanish Conquistadors in the 16th century can still be found in the area. The great wild, wide open landscape also showcases horses, buffalo, wild turkeys, feral hogs, deer, bald eagles and many more interesting forms of wildlife, both land bound and winged.

W

e have never seen such a wide range of accommodations as are available at WRR. Tenting comes in all forms, from pitching a pup tent (raw camping) all the way up to a tricked-out teepee (glamping.) Also on site are lodge guest rooms, cabins and cottages for the less adventurous. Cabins have buffalo grazing just yards from your porch. How western can you get? If you prefer to travel with your own accommodations, there are RV sites set up as well. There is even an aviation center with a runway for small planes to land and homes with hangars attached for rent.

pparently we fell into the less adventurous category since we chose to check in to the lodge. The cowboy motif is full-on at WRR, so you are completely immersed in the western theme. We also checked out the other accommodations and they, too, were all plushly rustic, have comfy beds, and modern amenities.

he coolest experience of all, however, has to be staying in the Luxe Teepees (glamping to the nth degree.) Filled with upscale amenities, they can sleep up to four people. They come with a stone fireplace, leather chairs, clawfoot bathtub with shower, private bathroom, mini fridge, microwave, couch, 51” Flat screen TV, electrical outlet, many more features — and, VERY IMPORTANT, a portable air conditioning and heating unit! If that wasn’t enough, concierge service is included as well.

t WRR, you will see a lot of guests dressed in western wear, and pretty much everyone wears a cowboy hat. No need to try to find one before you arrive at the ranch, as there’s a store on property that sells tons of cowboy hats in all shapes and sizes, along with western clothing.

RR has every summer outdoor activity you can think of all year long — archery, skeet and trap shooting, horseback riding, golf and miniature golf, hiking, swimming pool, a rock climbing wall, zip line, a mechanical bull, and bungee jumping — and even an authentic cattle drive. Friendly WRR farm animals love to be petted and fed by kids. An on-site marina offers boat rentals, fishing, and airboat and swamp buggy rides. Helicopter rides can be scheduled for groups. All that should keep you busy for a while. One popular attraction at the ranch that brings folks in from the surrounding area is the Saturday Night Rodeo, the longest-running championship rodeo in the USA, where you can see exciting trick riding, bull riding, calf roping and barrel racing.

Y

ou may think dining is an afterthought for WRR, but that is definitely not the case. Some very tasty cookouts take place, along with Western style cooking at the Smokehouse Grill, and food and drink available at the River Ranch Saloon served up with some live entertainment on the weekends. Guests can grocery shop at the General Store or grab ‘n go some deli food stuffs to eat in or take back to your room. A fun Dinner Hayride includes a cookout buffet and a ride through some WRR wildlife. What a creative site for weddings. WRR has a lovely little white chapel on property, and the wedding party can make their way to their indoor or outdoor reception in a horse drawn carriage. Some folks actually get married right on horseback! We speak of this being a great family vacation spot, which it definitely is, but it can also be quite romantic in your own cozy tent under the stars, sitting by your campfire, and enjoying some of the many amenities the ranch has to offer. Companies also love it for meetings and team building exercises. A vacation at the Westgate River Ranch is one the kids will talk about for years. Leave the screens at home and experience the outdoors for a healthy dose of fun.

usch Gardens Tampa Bay has announce the newest member of the gorilla troop in the Myombe Reserve habitat. “Oliver”, a male endangered western lowland gorilla, was born on Aug. 18 and is being cared for by 28-year-old mother, Mary, who came to Busch Gardens in February 2010. The sire is 10-year-old Bolingo, who was born at Busch Gardens in 2005. This successful birth makes a total of seven gorillas that call Busch Gardens Tampa Bay home.

The calf’s weight is estimated somewhere between 80-100 pounds, but she has the potential to reach up to 4500 at full size.

She is a sibling to “Tembikai” - the male calf born at the Zoo in January 2015. This species is facing a number of threats, primarily due to human development and habitat loss.

Brunch e c n a g e l E l a u s a C D

at Disney World Resorts

on’t plan on heading over to one of Disney’s theme parks early on Sunday, instead make plans to experience one of their amazing brunches at Narcoossee’s (Grand Floridian Resort) or the California Grill (The Contemporary Resort.) This is a relatively new offering at both of these upscale restaurants, and both have tantalizing menus.

Narcoossee’s

If you’ve never been to Narcoosee’s, it’s in a stand alone building near the pool area of the Grand Floridian Resort, and overlooks the beautiful Seven Seas Lagoon. Their regular cuisine features American and Seafood selections, and the Brunch offerings are deliciously creative. For starters, Narcoossee’s Signature Bloody Mary would be the way to go, or a Prosecco or Mimosa is also in order. Some appetizers we sampled were the flavorful Shrimp and Grits with Cherrywood Bacon, and an exceptional Artisanal Cheese Selection with cheese tastes from around the world. So many entrées, our group ordered different ones and shared. We thoroughly enjoyed such delights as Lobster-Egg Benedict, with butter-poached Maine lobster, soft-poached eggs, and hollandaise on a toasted English Muffin; Steak and Eggs with a Black Angus hangar steak, eggs, toast and herb-parmesan fries with truffle aioli; and Chicken and Waffles with crispy-fried boneless breast and thigh, pickles, tabasco-maple honey and sumac-thyme butter. French toast can be bland, but not here. It is made with caramelized apples and bananas with whipped mascarpone cream. Can’t say no to dessert, and couldn’t say no to Narcoossee’s Valencia Orange Bar, a Triple chocolate Cake, and Lemon Blueberry Timbale. All lovely. Narcoossee’s Brunch Hours 10 a.m. -2 p.m. Sundays. Cost $69, $41 ages 3 to 9, Includes one prosecco, mimosa, or Bloody Mary (smoothie for children); house-made pastries, appetizer, entrée, dessert, Classic brunch dishes.

California Grill

California Grill sits high atop the Contemporary Resort and has a spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and beyond. (If you haven’t been there at night, this is the very best view of fireworks you will find.) Universally highly rated by food critics, the CA Grill delivers the goods with their brunch offerings. They have a gorgeous bounty of self-serve food as well as a made to order menu. Brunch drink offerings are plentiful, with many cocktail choices. Brunch is enjoyed with the accompaniment of pleasant live music. The self-serve display has an interesting charcuterie which includes such items as Orange-Honey Ham, Bison, and Pork Belly Rillettes. Fresh salads such as Kale and Apple with cranberries and almonds, Iceberg Wedge with tomato and bacon, Fregola with crispy sautéed vegetables are just a few of the choices. There’s sushi, sushi, sushi and more of it—beautiful to look at and luscious to eat. A few entrées on the served table-side menu that we sampled—and loved—were the Poached Lobster Benedict with honey ham, hollandaise, and potato mash, and the Grilled Flat Iron Steak with poached eggs, chimichurri, onion and potatoes. Desserts were various yummy cookies including macaroons and chocolate truffles. California Grill Brunch Hours - 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sundays. Cost: $80; $48 ages 3-11, includes valet parking, one welcome drink, pasties, buffet, one entrée from the a la carte menu, desserts and drinks such as coffee, tea, juices and sodas, signature dishes such as Poached Lobster Benedict.

When you’re planning your Disney World visit, make sure you pencil in Sunday Brunch at one of these memorable restaurants as a special treat to yourselves and your family. Even though this may sound geared towards adults (it is) this is Disney, so children are always welcome and will find food and drink items aimed at their palate as well. Tailgating with Vintage Flair C

ollectors look for team spirit and old kitchen collectibles when shopping for tailgating items. Autumn is the season for every type of tailgate…football, soccer, whatever the sport. Team colors are always in style and vintage stuff from tailgates gone by are sure to make your tailgate party a winner. Condition is important as is the age of the vintage tailgating items. Table Settings Printed tablecloths from the 1940s will make that old folding table look great all season long. Some of the best folding tables are the wooden poker tables from the 1950s or the not very vintage plastic tables from office supply stores. Vintage cloths from the Pop art time period will cost about $50-$100 each. Add extra aluminum folding chairs to the backseat so you can host guests from the opposing team at your tail2. gate. These won’t cost too much, about $10 each, in good condition since they are easy to come by and always very useful.

Classic lithographic tin plaid picnic cooler, circa 1955

Chow Down Collectible from the kitchen and garage are all the rage. For a realistic vintage tailgate, use metal cups from the 1960s for soft drinks and smoothies. Fill plaid thermoses with soup to sip before the kickoff. Old soda coolers like those featuring Coca Cola or Pepsi logs will be just the thing to keep your cold sandwiches and drinks cold while you cheer on your team. Some of these coolers cost upwards of $500 to $750 in excellent shape. Serve cold cut sandwiches on white bread or deviled eggs from plastic trays in bright colors. Don’t forget the printed tin lunch pails for storing necessities like napkins, condiments, and toothpicks.

Yay Team! Old, well worn pennants supporting your team are perfect for decorating your tailgate. Don’t forget to bring along old team sporting equipment, hats, jerseys, and anything in your team’s colors. Wool blankets, wooly mittens, and scarves are must haves during those crisp autumn days at the game. And when the team colors are not available, go plaid instead. Sit back and enjoy the game in vintage tailgate style. Happy tailgating! DEAL ME IN with Mark Pilarski www.markpilarski.com/ Penny-Playing Strategery Dear Mark: I like to play penny slots. My system is that I only lose five dollars from my highest credits. For example, I insert $5, lose it, then move to another machine. I will either win a little or, only lose 5 dollars from the highest credit score. My question is; Am I better off moving to different machines or staying put on just one machine? Jeremy P. As the budget-minded gambler that you are, Jeremy, when playing penny slots, you have plenty of betting flexibility in the number of lines and coins per line that you can bet. On the flip side of that same penny, penny slots are huge money makers for the casino. And the reason is they get a tremendous amount of play because penny-wise – and sometimes pound-foolish – players like you love them; but they also

trem, singer Noybel Gorgoy, and keyboardist/vocalist Jamie Hosmer, Between the Lines promises a show as touching as it is lively. This sonic tour de force illustrates the intricate ties between artist, song, and inspiration for Holmes and the band. Tuesdays through Saturdays at 10 p.m.

tend to have relatively low paybacks. To be regarded as a prudent player, it is important for one to comprehend base denomination. Penny machines should be just that, penny machines; not $5 a pop per spin betting max per line. What also remains the same, no matter how much or little you wager, are those low paybacks. The player who bets multiple coins per line creates per-spin bets that are no longer penny play, but a quarter, even dollar action; all against a house edge that could easily be 15%. Your penny slot system -- per your description – has one great feature going for it. You have set realistic win goals and loss limits. Deciding to swap machines when yours goes cold is called “hit-and-run gambling.” This type of short-term play is centered on perceived streaks. Streaks, Jeremy, are nothing more than hindsight of past performance. You, me, even casino management know not when a streak starts, let alone ends. What is quite real, Jeremy, is the casino’s built-in advantage. It is predicated on the operation of the

“law of averages.” Over the long run, no in-and-out system is going to work against it. Once your hardearned money is exposed for an extended period, it’s going to get gobbled up. The only true benefit of walking from a machine is that when you get up and leave that comfy Naugahyde stool, you are physically not playing that penny slot, and the built-in edge of that one-armed penny bandit can NOT eat away at your bankroll. I suggest that you stick with what you are currently doing, Jeremy, that illusionary stopgap, the $5 trigger of max credits that forces a retirement from the game. As often stated in this column, each spin on a slot machine is an independent event based on the random number generator (RGN). Swapping machines cannot change that, nor make much of a difference on your overall outcome. To slow the pace of the machine’s built-in house edge you stop yanking the handle. Doing this develops discipline and fiscal awareness of your bankroll when you play. It doesn’t help in your search of Gold Mountain.

Every Thursday, a Smateria employee travels to a shanty village and trains the women to crochet and knit plastic strips. She takes new patterns and templates, oversees their techniques and checks the quality of the products. The women work at their own pace, in their own time for fair wages and safe labor conditions as well as daycare and free school for their children. Every purchase made provides an average of five meals to children in Cambodia.

ere we are at the start of another season of Buccaneers football. As usual, the Bucs have been very involved in the community. On September 21, the Bucs held their second annual epic event, the Women of Red. This event is held to invite women fans to learn more about the game and everything Buccaneers. Last year the event—the first, was great. This year’s was even better with about twice as many people in attendance. I don’t know where they’ll put everyone next year, they might need to have two events. Gayle Sierens hosted the panel discussion with John Lynch and Ronde Barber who spoke about how they went from the playing field to the press box.

stall the learning gardens in the Buccaneers academies to help children grow, cultivate, and harvest produce for their schools while learning lessons about hard work and responsibility. This has inspired over 14,000 kids in the area and counting.

THE BUCCANEERS ACADEMIES

The Buccaneers and United Healthcare have teamed up to install Learning Gardens in 24 Bucs academies. Led by Darcie Glazer Kassewitz, the Glazer foundation started three years ago to in124

participate. The class that scores the most minutes of reading wins a behind the scenes tour at 1 Bucs Place. Since the challenge started over 11 million minutes of reading time has been recorded. The Bucs squad experience, a 21,000 squarefoot interactive area, will be open before games for all children and families attending the games. The Bucs squad experience will include inflatable football activities, interactive play, 60 football clinics, as well as visits from Captain fear and the Tampa Bay cheerleaders. shaved the head of numerous Buccaneers over the years, and then in 2015 and 2016 he shaved the head of quarterback Jamies Winston.

Team USA honored

At half time on Saturday’s contest the Bucs recognized members of team USA from the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic games in Rio de Janeiro. Bucs Academy Learning Gardens event at Lanier Elementary School.

Heroes of the game

The Bucs are continuing a tradition to honor the military heroes at the games. At every home game, a selected military member will be stationed on the pirate ship in Buccaneers Cove for the ringing of the ships bell. This past Sunday’s honoree was Melvin Smith, who was a civilian worker for the government in Hawaii and he witnessed the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Smith then enlisted in the United States Navy and he served throughout the entire war. At 98 years old, Smith still volunteers his time and effort at the Bay Pines veteran hospital here in the Bay Area.

Pediatric Cancer foundation

For team introductions, eight-year-old Joshua Fisher, a pediatric cancer survivor and supporter of the national pediatric Cancer foundation, lead the Buccaneers out of the tunnel. For the past four years, Fisher has participated in the Buccaneers annual cut for the cure event for the benefit of the national pediatric Cancer foundation. The team raised over $110,000. Fisher has personally

DV6 VIDEO DISPLAY

Has everybody had the chance to see bucks vision at Ray Jay? It is amazing. Watching the screen is almost as good as watching the game on the field. The LED video display was designed and manufactured by Daktronics, and the installation of 14 displays totaling more than 39,000 square feet and more than 23 million LEDs ranks as the third largest video board system in the NFL. Good job Brian Ford. The goal was to make the Ray Jay’s a memorable experience for the fans, and they certainly have done that.

THIS and THAT

At a recent Bucs game Martin Gramatica was in the house. Do you think he might consider retiring? Just a thought! Rehab centers? Are the NFL teams supposed to be rehab centers? It seems that there are too many players that need to grow up. Every week we hear about another player that just doesn’t get it. Although they are well educated adults, they just don’t seem to want to respect the rules and then they’re get charged with domestic battery, bar fights, DUI, or substance abuse. Then they want us to feel sorry for them. Why don’t they stop, put their big boy pants on and do the right thing?
