from your Pastor
“…I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). Such was what Apostle Paul testified as regards his passionate, powerful and persevering pursuit in sharing the Word of God. May that be our heart’s expression whenever we are asked about our devotion, dedication and determination in telling God’s Word to others. In concluding our Sunday School lessons anchored on our January theme, “Daily in the Word in Making Disciples,” we must always bear in mind that being children of God, we should own a King James Bible as a necessary personal property, which we ought to read, meditate, memorize, and to share. We truly believe that the Bible is the Word of God; therefore, we must admit that we cannot live righteously well without it. We thank God for making His truths, precepts, statutes, testimonies, laws, commandments, judgments, oracles, and instructions available to us through His Scriptures, that are preached, taught, and proclaimed to make us effective Christians in evangelizing the sinners, edifying the saints, and exalting the Saviour for His honor and DR. ED M. LAURENA glory. Let us then do our part in learning from the Bible and living according to its pronouncements. It is my prayer that as your Pastor, I will do my very best by God’s grace and power to minister unto you and lead you according to the Word of God. Along my commitment is my gratitude to God for allowing me to preach His Word in various churches this month in Pampanga, Iloilo, and Metro Manila. This Sunday, I am in Chungli, Taiwan for our Outreach Anniversary. Meanwhile, I would like to thank you for the wedding anniversary banquet, program, and gifts that you accorded to me and Ma’am Dhel. I really thank God for your love and support. Likewise, I commend you for continually involving in the Lord’s work, including our area soulwinning, Bible study and fellowship-endeavors, church worship services and discipleship efforts, Sunday school activities and programs, church prayer meetings, and Nehemiah project contributions. Together, let us glorify God in worshipping Him in spirit and in truth!!!

ATE IN 2007, many people stumbled on an inL famous though fictitious video from You Tube entitled, “A Letter from Hell.” The two characters
in the story were Josh and Zach who used to be the best of friends. The letter from hell was written by Josh right after his death from a car crash after a party with his friends including Zach. Josh was disappointed when he realized that his idea of life after death was totally the opposite of the reality he is actually facing --- torments in hell. What hurts all the more is that Zach never shared what could have spared him from fire and worm that never shall die. Well, perhaps, Zach never invited his dear buddy to church. Instead of compelling Josh to Sunday Worship service, he compromised as he joined parties on weekends feasting on heavy alcohol drinking, and drugs maybe, even casual relationships. How could he, then, share the Gospel if his testimony of a worldly living shall confront him? All because he neglected the Word of God: the preaching of it, the principles and precepts in it, the practice of it and the purpose out of it. Christians who have seen this video may either feel scared or supported. This account would surely scare you if you slack in sharing the Good
News with the lost, more so with your loved ones. Proverbs 3:27 says “Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.” Curtis Hutson once quoted, “The only alternative to soulwinning is disobedience.” Dr. Ed Laurena says to many aspiring church planters and missionaries, “You can be as lazy as you want to be, but you can never build the work!” On the other hand, the video may be a great support as it encourages you always to get your shoes on for witnessing and counseling. Many of us see the need; thus, we agree that it is imperative to share Jesus (and His love) with others. However, the problem is that most of us make a big deal out of our busy work schedules, conflict in school activities and some other bunch of apologies. All these and more, echo in the ears of our Area Leaders every Thursday night and Saturday morning. Out of approximately 2,500 church members who are able to speak the message of salvation, there is just a very slim percentage that actively joins the scheduled church-wide soulwinning and visitations. Stop hoarding the richness of God’s Word. Stop making excuses. Start prioritizing God. Speak up and share the good things which you have seen and heard as Peter and John did in Acts 4:20. This blessed book which we read, study, meditate upon, and commit to memory is good enough to enable us to go around and win, warn and warm (comfort) disciples.

THE BLESSINGS OF DISCIPLESHIP
January 16 of this year marked the 38th Wedding Anniversary of Dr. Ed and Ma’am Del Laurena. We praise God because we in CBBC always make them feel loved, not only through our prayers but also through our ways of remembering their special days such as this.

Rev. Reynaldo Calma
The Sunday School of the Adults’ Department hosted the Couples’ Banquet to celebrate the said occasion last Sunday, January 19. Inspiring testimonies were shared by Rev. And Mrs. Rey Calma. “Sweet games” were facilitated by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dimas. Moreover, a heart-warming devotion delivered by Bro. Chito Coronel charged the husbands and wives on “How to Have Happy, Happy Wedding Anniversaries.” The said banquet likewise showcased a line up of delectable food at the buffet table that satisfied everyone. The commemoration of the Lord’s faithfulness in the celebrants’ life concluded with gift-giving, with all areas well-represented. To all these, the church’s “first-couple” expressed their thankful hearts.

PRACTICAL TIPS ON SHARING GOD'S WORD WITH FRIENDS, NEIGHBOURS AND WORKMATES OR CLASSMATES 1. Realize that there is power in prayer. Bear in mind that prayer supplies the power and the strength in sharing God's Word. Too often we tend to dwell on our lack of knowledge or fears of witnessing. Instead, focus on God and the power of the Holy Spirit. Prayer is the means God provides to confess our sins and remind ourselves who is ultimately in control. Begin praying for the person in your life and ask for opportunities, strength, and guidance. It's amazing how the Lord provides! 2. - Truth tends to coincide with trust. To consider truth, a person will largely depend on the source. For Christians, that source is God's Word. Time is needed to build a bridge of trust by providing sincere love and care for that soul God has placed in your life. By sharing what Christ has already done, we can gently take them by the hand and help cross the bridge of the true gospel together. 3. Remember to sprinkle God's Word in your everyday conversations. In engaging a soul with the true Gospel, sprinkle God's Word in your talk. Share what you learned at church on Sunday. For example, you can say, "Yesterday at church my Pastor gave such a wonderful message that brought me such great comfort. He talked about forgiveness during Bible study and how I can have 100% confidence that my sins are forgiven and am eternally assured of Heaven. It was exactly what I needed to hear." Planting the seeds of God's Word is not difficult. We simply share what we already know to be true. -Excerpted from "Witnessing Well"

HE REALITY of living confronts us every day and we must take hold of that opportunity to align ourselves and others to the truth that the final authority is God’s Holy Word. As believers, we have been separated from a world system that is mostly perverted, pointless and corrupt. The pervading challenge in our lives is to be agents of major life changes through the sharing of God’s Word by way of our living, teaching, preaching, and ministering. It is a turning away from heeding godless ways and cleaving towards the timeless endeavor of sharing God’s precious Word. The Lord requires us to be humble and teachable in James 3:13-18, “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” People respond to sincerity and genuineness. We may put up a certain façade but a heart that genuinely seeks to minister to a person’s life is foremost. We can prayerfully discern people’s need by the Holy Spirit’s guidance. The Word of God should not be debated or argued over. The spirit of contention and competition for self-glory regarding God’s precious Word should be avoided.
”For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”- 1 Corinthians 9:16. Ministering, teaching, and preaching are not ways to exalt our faithfulness…but God’s faithfulness. The Word of God “…is first pure and then peaceable.” It means a faith not weakened by any impurity. We can only receive and carry peace from the Prince of Peace Jesus Christ. We are to be peacemakers in this contentious world. The Word of God is gentle. It does not coerce or force people to accept a certain way of thinking or living. The working of the Holy Spirit in the Word will fulfill its intended task…”So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. “-Isaiah 55:11. We should deliver it with compassionate gentleness in this competitive world. The Word of God is “full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” This is the exact picture of Jesus Christ’s soulwinning encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well. We should show our Saviour’s impartial and sincere ministering to the people in this condemning world. If we are ever to go forward in our sharing of God’s Word, we must acknowledge that all reality hinges on its moral foundations and precepts, and that our reality must have spiritual control. The Word of God, although a much persecuted and controversial Book has remained woven into the tapestry of cultural history-attesting not just the story of salvation and struggle…but the power of obedience, and the fulfillment of God’s enduring promises to His people. May we create a reality, for ourselves and others, which would last for eternity.

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
