from your
Pastor
We are commanded by God to rejoice in the Lord always. Philippians 4:4 expressed this truth. I Thessalonians 5:16 likewise has instructed us to “Rejoice evermore.” We can say then that God wants us to be glad and happy constantly. Much more, He delights to see us having a joyful spirit. It is because He can give us joy, and He can sustain such bliss with contentment and peace in our lives. Amidst hardships, pressures, and trials, are we showing genuine joy in our lives as Christians? Do others see the joy that we claim we have? It is only by the grace, mercy, and love of God that we can truly be joyful. We thank God that we, His children whom He has redeemed, and who are assured of His eternal security, are also promised to experience the fullness of His joy. That is a very great blessing! Together with His gift of eternal life is His joy of salvation that we have received when we put our trust in Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord. In this regard, we must always be grateful, and complementing our gratitude must be our joyfulness. Yes, we must be joyful that we are saved, not anymore condemned to hell, but already bound to heaven. Most importantly, we should be joyful because we have God Who is the ultimate source of joy.
Realizing that joyfulness must characterize us as God’s believers, we should always strive to stay in His presence and to walk in the Spirit. These we can do when we faithfully keep His commandments as a result of our love for Him. We must never let our joy depend on the money and resources we have. Our joy can prevail as we read His Word daily, pray fervently, deal kindly with others, attend worship services punctually, participate in God’s kingdomadvancement programs willingly, support our church projects actively, give to the Lord’s work cheerfully, and win souls sincerely. As your Pastor, I am inspired to declare that you are my joy in the Lord. Your ready involvement in our life-building pursuits and church building renovation endeavors are a valuable encouragement to me. Let us altogether keep on doing His will with joy. This Lord’s day and every day, may we eagerly proclaim, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).

CBBA High-Schoolers Excitedly Attended DOST's Science Expo 2015 Endeavouring to continually be at par with the country's educational scene, the highschool students of CBBA with supervising teachers trooped to the 5th day of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) celebration for 2015 last Tuesday, July 28. DOST has organized and held Science and Technology week celebrations since the 1950s and consequently the event was instituted in 1982 through Presidential Proclamation 2214, which was amended through Republic Act 169 in 1993 to set the National Science and Technology Week every third week of July. The students were captivated by the multitude of booths set-up displaying recent scientific breakthroughs and technological advances in the field of botany, biology, meteorology, electronics and communications technology, Robotics, and etc. They were even cordially vibrant in the Forum's Question and Answer portion challenging the speaker on the veracity of the Theory of Evolution. Likewise, they strove to seek the essence of godly inquiry, asking: “Where is faith in God positioned in a particular research?” In hindsight, the NSTW aims to bring science and technology closer to the people by letting them experience the vital role of science, technology, and innovation in improving the people’s quality of life, protecting the environment, and contributing to national development, particularly in poverty alleviation. Moreover, the NSTW highlights the capability of local Science and Technology experts and inspires the youth and other sectors in believing that Filipinos can do it and that local technology works. For our home-grown CBBA students, it was indeed a day not just of learning new things but of subduing recent inventions and discoveries in the light of the Bible's timeless truthfulness.

Ang kanyang kahariang kinilala sa tawag na “Babel” ay nangahas na gumawa ng tore na naglayong ang tuktok ay umabot sa langit, Genesis 11:4, “And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.” Totoo ang sinabi ng Bibliya sa Mark 8:36, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” B u t lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break
through nor steal” (Matthew 6:19, 20). Bilang isang Hudyong nakakilala na kay Kristo, winika niya, “Youth is a mistake; manhood a struggle; old age a regret.” “But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities” (Luke 5:15). There are no more worlds to conquer.” Sa ating mga ligtas, walang makapaghihiway sa atin sa pag-ibig ng Ama dahil ginawa Niya tayong higit pa sa isang manlulupig “…we are more than
conquerors through him that loved us… neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:3739). For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name” (Psalm 33:21). Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away” (Isaiah 51:11). 05
God’s Way To Joyfulness
“I will rejoice in thy salvation."—Psalm 9:14. Whereas happiness depends only on happenings, joyfulness intrinsically depends on the Divine. Everybody wants to be joyful. People the whole wide world over are fabricating clever method and going out of their comfort zones to find joy and meaning in life. In fact, much of our amazing breakthroughs in science and technology is the result of man's quest for a truly joyful life. Sadly, the things that many people seek to bring them joy do not accomplish the job. With all technological advancements and economic progression, humanity is still on a regressive path toward self-destruction. Millions of hospitals and health clinics are added each year, but the majority of people feel no better. Although an impressive array of brilliant time-saving devices and machineries give them more leisure time, still they are not content. We live in a day where food is made more palatable and delectable, yet people are starving for satisfaction. Insurance companies are issuing more policies with wider coverage, but people feel more insecure than ever. Millions are adding nutritional supplements to their diet, yet they continue to have no peace. We praise and thank the God of heaven Who in His infinite wisdom has provided a way to joyfulness. SALVATION BRINGS BREAKING. A breaking-away from people, places and practices which have been habitually part of our lives is necessary if they continually hinder us from God's leading in our lives. The twentyfirst century is characterized by great advances and fantastic discoveries. We pride ourselves in having made great strides, but all of these have not lessened the moral and spiritual corruption of our society. We cannot achieve renewal and revival if we continue on the same path we are running. Truth be told, our deepest sorrows and regrets are brought on by our wilful disregard of godly counsel to be separated from godless influences. We must, “...lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us....” (Hebrews 12:1). SALVATION BRINGS BEING. The Christian faith reminds us that our fundamental problem is not moral but rather, our foremost problem is spiritual. It is not just that we are immoral, but that a moral life alone cannot bridge what separates us from God. The supreme difference 06
between the moralizing religions past to present and Jesus’ offer to us is that Jesus does not primarily aim to make bad people good but to make dead people alive. The conversion from a sinner to saint is just an outflow of being alive in Christ. It brings vibrancy in our previously sin-deadened life, “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins” (Ephesians 2:1). Joy is only felt by a person who is alive and well. SALVATION BRINGS BELONGINGNESS. There is a basic need in man to belong, be it by way of family, society, and others. God knows this and He wants us to belong to Him. Although mankind has chosen
NOT to belong to God, in His divine love and tender compassion, He has chosen us. In His provision for our salvation from sin's eternal punishment in Hell, the great heart of God made it possible for us to belong to Him, “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” (Ephesians 1:6) At the end of all these, life's joys are only joys if they can be shared. What a joy that will be if we can all be zealous to become agents of spreading Jesus' way to joyfulness. May the LORD empower us for this humbling and selfless act of sharing the Gospel with the lost.
