VOLUME 23 > ISSUE 10 > MARCH 10

It is a blessing to me to pastor a church that is known, and sometimes even criticized, for winning souls. But, I firmly believe that such is the main reason why Christ came to earth. Luke 19:10 states “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. And that should be why our church exists. All over our church, though coming from different backgrounds, are believers who are testifying that they got saved because someone shared with them the Gospel. Today, our outreach in Jhongli celebrates its 3rd Anniversary. This outreach, like all our daughter churches and missions, started as a result of winning souls. Because of someone or some group of people who had a desire to reach a lost soul to Christ, a church is started. And if more people would have that same burden, then more would be reached. As God allows us to live with the blessings He provides, may we be a part of that group that would want to see more souls saved. Let us all have a Spirit-filled Sunday!

Hymn Stories I Love to Rescue the Tell the Story Perishing Katherine Hankey was born in 1834 into a wealthy English family, but her desire and joy was to see the poor and downhearted come to Christ. Early in life she started conducting Bible studies all over the city of London. She started a Bible class for girls in her neighborhood, and then, when she was only eighteen, Hankey went to London to teach a Bible class of “factory girls.” When she was thirty she got very sick and was told that she had to take some time off from her Bible studies and rest. For a year, she rested but did not lay dormant. It was during this time that she took her pen and wrote a very long poem about Jesus Christ. It was out of the second half of her poem where we find the words to our hymn, "I Love To Tell The Story."

If I were the man by the side of the road Who watches the world go by, I'd stop every man with a frown on his face And ask him the reason why, I'd stop every one with sad, weary eyes And find out what made him so; I'd point out to each the Christ on the cross And help him His love to know. If I lived in a house by the side of the road And tried for the friendship of man, I'd tell him of Christ, the wonderful One, Who gave us salvation's plan. I'd show him the road to Heaven's gate, The way that the Saviour trod, If I were the man by the side of the road, I'd try to lead someone to God.

Fanny Crosby loved sharing the Gospel with anyone who would listen. In 1869 she penned the words to “Rescue the Perishing.” When asked about the song, she explained, “It was written following a personal experience at the New York City Bowery Mission.” She went on to explain that she would go one night a week to talk to “her boys.” One night while speaking to them, she kept having the thought that there was a boy present who had wandered away from his mother and must be rescued that night, or he would be eternally lost. She made a plea to each boy that was there that night. At the end of the service, one of the young men came forward and said, “Did you mean me, Miss Crosby? I promised my mother to meet her in Heaven, but as I am now living that will be impossible.” She prayed with him and led him to Christ. As they finished, he said, “Now I am ready to meet my mother in Heaven, for I have found God.”

I do not live by the side of the road, Where the race of man passes on, But I meet them each day on the path of life, Those wanderers far from home. You don't have to live in a house by the road To scatter the sunshine of love. But wherever you live, if a man ask the way, Just point him to Heaven above. You don't have to live in a house by the road To offer your friendship to man. A kindly word and a cheerful smile, A friendly clasp of the hand, A word of love to a sinsick soul Helps lighten the heavy load And makes you a friend of all mankind If you are the man by the road. -copied-

Weeping for the Lost Edward Kimball Sunday School Teacher of D.L. Moody

D.L. Moody told the story of his conversion this way: “....One day I recollect my teacher came around behind the counter of the shop I was at work in, and put his hand upon my shoulder, and talked to me about Christ and my soul....I said to myself, ‘This is a very strange thing. Here is a man who never saw me till lately, and he is weeping over my sins, and I never shed a tear about them.’ I don’t remember what he said, but I can still feel the power of that man’s hand on my shoulder tonight.” The concern and tears of a godly teacher resulted in the conversion of a man who saw a million souls saved in his evangelistic campaigns.

DAHIL MAY NAG-AKAY SA ATIN SA PANGINOON Beata B. Agustin

etween the hours of ten and twelve, for many nights, a poor woman might have been seen making her way through the streets of London. A year had passed since her only daughter had left home, and entered service in the great city. There she became acquainted with gay companions, and she was now living a life of open sin. The mother learned that her daughter might be seen every night in a certain part of the town. After many nights of watching, she was about to despair, when she saw a figure closely resembling that of her daughter. She eagerly approached, and was about to stretch out her arms to embrace it, when the light of a lamp showed that it was not her child. In an agony of grief, she exclaimed, "Ah! It is not she! I was looking for my daughter. But, no, you are not my child!" The poor girl burst into tears, saying, "I have no mother. I wish I had. I wish I had someone who would look for me. I wish someone would look for me!" Many in this world who in the bitterness of their souls are crying out, "I wish someone would look for me!" Fatherless, motherless, homeless, Christ-less, they tread their darkened courses, and in the anguish of their stricken spirits cry out, "No man careth for my soul!" Thanks be to God! There is One Who is higher than all, Whose tender mercies fail not, and Who looks with pitying eye on those upon whom others look with hate and scorn. Let us follow the example of Him Whose mission here was to seek the ruined, and to save those that are lost.

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
