from your Pastor

DR. ED M. LAURENA

Fulfilling the Lord’s Great Commission is indeed our God-given duty which we must accomplish through His power and for His glory. With God the Father leading, the Saviour compelling, and the Holy Spirit empowering us, we can surely do our part in the evangelism of the lost, the baptism of converts, and the discipleship of believers. Our Church, which was organized and established for such purpose has never stopped in pursuing the said goal. As your Pastor, I encourage you all to join me in persevering to win souls, to populate Heaven, and to advance God’s kingdom. I thank and praise God that you are with me in this endeavor as attested by your faithfulness in leading souls to the Lord, in inviting people to attend our worship services, in bringing visitors to the church, in participating in church activities, in supporting missions, and in serving as Christ’s witnesses in this world. “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9). Yes, let us continue doing God’s will, while thanking Him for using us in fulfilling the Great Commission in our respective areas, in our work and school places, and wherever He gives us opportunities to share the Gospel. Here in Taiwan, we are blessed to see many souls saved who got saved with 96 first time visitors and five new Christians baptized during the 4th Anniversary of our Taichung Outreach last week. Please pray with me for a triumphant 20th Outreach Anniversary in Kaohsiung this Sunday. Together, let us declare God’s goodness while we worship Him in spirit and in truth with joy and gratefulness today!

Ministry in Age 3 Class TO WHOM WAS THE GREAT COMMISSION GIVEN Matthew 28:19-20

I. A divine mandate was given to the Church. A. Believers can do it through their lifestyle. B. Believers can do it through their lips. C. Believers can do it through their love. II. A divine message was given to the Church. A. God’s people has a simple message. B. God’s people has a specific message. C. God’s people has a sacred message. III. A divine mission was given to the Church. A. The divine mission of the Church is to preach. B. The divine mission of the Church is to propagate. C. The divine mission of the Church is to praise and honour God.

This class is the younger unit of the Nursery Department in Children’s Sunday School. Ten teachers headed by Ma’am Gee Rose Gerada accommodate an average of 40 kids at the room nearest to the church building’s Guard Post. Most children at this age are tremendously adventurous for they are yearning to know everything about the world. So then, the teaching team responded by promoting awareness to these cute little ones. Every month, they feature the basic things kids need to know such as animals, numbers, days, fruits, vegetables and so on. Nevertheless, godly things are never taken for granted. They instruct the students to dress up right every Sunday. As young as they are, they are already being exposed to memorizing Bible verses, hearing Bible stories and knowing the way of getting to heaven through Jesus. Another thing that motivates the kids is the special number where everyone gets to sing with the rest of the chosen ones from the class the first time. Generally, the teachers’ main goal is to let the children enjoy Sunday School and never make them feel some suffocation and self-pity.

Church Bulletin A Flourishing 4th Anniversary Celebrated in CBBC Outreach in Taichung, Taiwan

L

AST SUNDAY, the 9th of March, CBBCO Taichung celebrated its flourishing fourth anniversary that yielded 96 First Time Visitors and 5 Baptisms. This Outreach, an offshoot from its Kaohsiung branch, paved the way for yet another in the Jhongli area which has just recently celebrated its 3rd in January. It was a great and victorious Sunday where God has displayed His magnificent power by bringing and saving the lost. Dr. Ed Laurena preached the glorious salvation message and the people were receptive to God’s Word. The event indeed marked another history in the place where God has empowered and commissioned His children to spread the gospel. Let us pray for God’s empowering to the brethren in a foreign land to bring in more souls to Jesus Christ. To God be all the glory.

“Ang Mga Huling Araw:” Matagumpay na Itinanghal

N

THE RIGHTFUL RESPONSE OF THE RECIPIENT OF THE GREAT COMMISSION If there are people who are so difficult to be persuaded of the truth, these are the apostles – the earliest church. The command of “going” and preaching the gospel, amplified in Mark 16:15, was a proof that Jesus was alive and is risen from the dead! Since then, the church was commissioned to win souls for Christ, until such time that it came to Christian Bible Baptist Church through faithful men who were able to teach others (2 Timothy 2:2). Thus, before us, the challenge remains: how do we keep the commission going? An unknown poet expressed that it would always depend in whose hands it is. So, he says... A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal A rod in Moses’ hands will part the mighty sea It depends whose hands it’s in A sling shot in my hands is a kid’s toy A sling shot in David’s hand is a mighty weapon. It depends whose hands it’s in Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches. Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in God’s hands will feed thousands It depends whose hands it’s in Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse Nails in Jesus Christ’s hands will produce salvation for the entire world. It depends whose hands it’s in Now the Gospel message is in our hands, some of us spread it, some just spoil it! Let not the richness of God’s saving grace be put to trash by simply slacking in soulwinning. When our prospects turn us down during fetching, how would our response be? “Ok, next week na lang...”, until we get fed up with their excuses and never get back to them anymore. Where are we during Sunday afternoon at 3PM? Many souls are yearning to be taught and they are all ready to listen and follow us through the 7-stage Discipleship Program. Countless opportunities are carried out by this church that we may grab at least one and make the Gospel prosper in our hands lest the Lord tag you “Thou wicked and slothful servant, “ Matthew 25:26. Although the perpetuity of the church is in the Lord’s hands, the Great Commission is ordered to us by the Great Commander. As such, we should be willing to let our hands work as our hearts are determined and geared to the fulfilment of this mandate. God will not say: “PLEASE, My son, involve!” The going forth will depend in our hands, empowered by the Holy Spirit; so then, “Go ye!”

While the late great Evangelist D.L. Moody was attending a convention in Indianapolis on mass evangelism, he asked his song leader Ira Sankey to meet him at 6 o'clock one evening at a certain street corner. When Sankey arrived, Mr. Moody asked him to stand on a box and sing. Once a crowd had gathered, Moody spoke briefly and then invited the people to follow him to the nearby convention hall. Soon the auditorium was filled with spiritually hungry people, and the great evangelist preached the Gospel to them. When the convention delegates began to arrive, Moody stopped preaching and said, "Now we must close, as the brethren of the convention wish to come and discuss the topic, “How to reach the masses.’” With that, Moody graphically illustrated the difference between talking about doing something and going out and doing it. As Christians, we may be knowledgeable about the theology, the mechanism and even the machinery of accomplishing the Great Commission. However, there is a great deal of difference between the knowledge of something and translating that knowledge into action. It is important to approach the Gospel with thankfulness, humility and resolve to be “…doers of the Word and not hearers only...” because “…to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” James 4:17. May we charge everything we endeavour to do with the very breath of God’s own Spirit.

THE BLESSINGS OF DISCIPLESHIP

A

Fulfilling the Great Commission Beata B. Agustin

The great commission is a command that’s divine Ever spiritual with our Sovereign Chief, author of heavenly guideline Never carnal in presenting laws of earthly pressures’ twine! Thus, fulfilling it revives us by its Gospel-salvation design As we abide in God’s fellowship where around His grace we feast and dine. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”- Matthew 28:19

T

HE ABOVE ACCOUNT transports us to a significantly pivotal event in history which has transformed us. The most common Biblical view of Great Commission involves several features. First, the Commission is understood to be the driving mission statement of the church. Its strategic placement at the end of the Gospel in Matthew chapter 28, spoken by our post-resurrected Jesus Christ before His ascension to Heaven, makes it clear that this is Jesus’ mandate to all who follow Him. Second, the Commission is applied by all believers corporately and thus individually: it is each Christian’s responsibility to carry out this corporate mandate in his life as an active member of a Bible-believing Baptist Church. Third, the Commission is directed specifically toward reaching the lost—that is, bringing people to the saving faith in Jesus Christ, making them members of the true New Testament Church, and discipling them to further Gospel evangelism to the regions beyond. It is generally understood in terms of rescuing people from an eternity in hell. It is primarily accomplished by personal and confrontational soulwinning in combination with supporting preaching and missionary ministries (or directly engaging in such ministries), sometimes also in combination with such activities as feeding and other projects that are intended to gain a receptive hearing for the Gospel. “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” (Matthew 28:18). Our God-ordained authority as a Christian should not be shrouded with ambiguity; but, rather must emphasize a representation of the Lord Jesus Christ as His disciple. We are

assured that we are representing the One Person who possesses all power, wisdom and authority. We have everything when we have Him. In Acts 1:8 Jesus said, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” No power can resist us as we go in obedience and faith as His ambassador. We have the promise, "Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world." We are assured that even the gates of hell will not prevail against this Church, CBBC, where we are members of. The more we understand Who Christ is and all that He has done and will do for us and through us, the more completely we will want to trust, obey and serve Him by way of fulfilling the Commissioned task. David Livingstone once deeply expressed, "If a commission by an earthly king is considered an honour, how can a commission by a Heavenly King be considered a sacrifice?" There is so much depth and significance to the fact that we serve a Commander Who is invisible yet invincible. Jesus gave the Great Commission not only to His eleven disciples, but also to everyone who has believed in Him through the centuries. Therefore, every Christian should be vitally and continually involved in proclaiming the Great Commission. In this synthesis of work between us believers, the Holy Ghost and the glorious Word of God, it is our most enormous privilege and joy to channel its fulfilment through our home, the Church Christian Bible Baptist Church. Luke 12:48 says, “… For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.” In this wickedly fascinating and dreary world, let our generation of true Biblical Christianity be responsible to this generation of lost souls on the earth.

The great commission is a mandate that’s perfect Ever infallible with our Wise Creator, worthy of great respect Never erroneous in instructing against humanistic intellect! Thus, fulfilling it develops us by its soulwinning effect As we follow God’s plan where we see His vision’s prospect and project. The great commission is a directive that’s important Ever vital with our Almighty King, focused on the eternally significant Never inconsistent in pointing toward what’s scripturally relevant! Thus, fulfilling it strengthens us by its immutable covenant As we prioritize God’s kingdom where life building-goal is first and dominant. The great commission is a business that’s holy Ever righteous with our Excellent Manager, so pure constantly Never carnal in dealing with problems seemingly worldly! Thus, fulfilling it upholds us by its truth which sanctifies fully As we seek God’s will where discipleship is practiced diligently and earnestly. The great commission is a task that’s profitable Ever productive with our Faithful Lord, mighty capable Never vain in converting people to become godly from being abominable! Thus, fulfilling it transforms us by its powerful result always credible As we labor in God’s work where sacrifice is favorable and honorable. The great commission is a charge that’s helpful Ever compassionate with our Good Master, just but likewise merciful Never burdensome in ministering to the lost, sinful, hell-bound, pitiful! Thus, fulfilling it moves us by its purpose to be more fervently prayerful As we apply God’s stewardship where obedience is best and blissful. The great commission is an order that’s rewarding Ever blessed with our Excellent Leader, purposively sending Never grievous in bearing fruits despite trials surrounding! Thus, fulfilling it secures us by its victorious ending As we cleave to God’s heart where His love is unconditional and abounding.
