Members’ Word

“O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon His name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works” (Psalm 105:1). It is with this triumphant spirit that we exalt God for giving to us His beloved Son, Jesus Christ for us to have everlasting life. He surely expressed His love by saving us from the wages of sin when we trusted in Him, and He is always showing us His compassion through His graciousness, goodness, and generosity. As such, we are assured of going to heaven and are blessed to experience a joyful Christian life. Likewise, we exult in the Lord’s will, ways, wisdom, work, and Word for giving to us a place, His church, where we can worship Him in spirit and in truth, and where our faith can be strengthened. We are grateful to God for this precious church membership which has opened to us great opportunities to involve in the fulfillment of His Great Commission and in the advancement of His kingdom. Moreover, we extol God for giving us our Pastor according to His heart. We truly thank the Lord, for

constantly enabling, encouraging, and exhorting our Pastor, Dr. Ed Laurena, to continue in following our Supreme Commander and in influencing us through his servant-leadership. With our praises to the Lord are our commendation for our Pastor for his faithfulness, fruitfulness, and fervency in the ministry as he stays steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding in the work of the Lord along His grace, by His might, and for His glory. Dear Pastor, we would like to declare once again our love and support for you and your family, and our dedication and commitment for your God-given vision-mission and program-projects that evangelize sinners, edify the saints, and exalt the Saviour. We are so privileged to have you as our Pastor. We greet you a very joyous birthday, and it is our prayer “that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 2). Today, we honour the Lord, presenting to Him ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable service (Romans 12:2). We believe that in doing so, we are honouring the man of God, our Pastor, who is unceasingly teaching and preaching us to seek first the Lord, and to love Him with our utmost.

Deaf Camp Victoriously Held The Lord be thanked and praised for the victorious Deaf Camp held last April 14-16 at Rizal Re-Creation Center in Rizal, Laguna. It was participated in by 60 campers from different CBBC fellowshipping churches, including CBBC Manila, CBBC Los Baños, CBBC Sta. Cruz, and CBBC San Pedro City. The camp started with a red-hot preaching by Preacher Elmer Panizales on that cold Tuesday night. The Wednesday morning divided sessions led by Bro. Arnel Armeña, Bro. RJ Soriano, and Miss Adora Tolosa fueled up each camper’s desire for faithfulness to God and to His service. Fun games and activities were enjoyed in the afternoon. Meanwhile, the last night of the camp showcased the participants’ talents in preaching, solo singing and choir rendition. After a sumptuous breakfast on Thursday, awards were given to the winners. The campers all set off for home, blessed and revived that God can use them, too, mightily by His grace, through His power and for His glory.

Graduating Berean Collegians Attended Baccalaureate Dinner Fellowship Twenty-four students from the Sunday School College Department celebrated a night of thanksgiving for God's faithfulness in bringing them to one of the highlights of Christian races - educational and academic achievements. With their parents and other relatives, this year's batch of Berean Collegians, as they are so called, had a momentous event of reminiscing the struggles and reckoning God's grace, hence, the victory! The program was filled with testimonies of parents and guardians who uttered their overwhelming praises to the Lord for giving them a privilege of rearing their children to know what the will of God is not only by their own efforts but by the influence of the church particularly the divided Sunday School. To compliment that, the students who bore witness of God's power cited the most memorable situations they were able to overcome using the principles they learned through their Sunday School teachers. Prior to the filling of the stomach was the feeding of the spirit which was preluded by a special song entitled "Press On," wonderfully rendered by the graduating students themselves. Shortly, Dr. Ed Laurena's exhortation of the Word of God followed. He clearly explained in the light of Hebrews 12:1-2 that each Christian has a course to finish. There may be struggles along the way but it is surely important to "Stay on the Racetrack." The greatest motivation is that Jesus is on the finish line waiting, so look unto Him!

There was also awarding of certificates to those who have faithfully attended the Sunday School classes for the whole academic year, and also to those who involved themselves in the church ministries such as Sunday School Teaching in the Children's Department, Choir and Music, School for the Deaf and Mute and Area Leadership. The highest citation was given to Daniel Gagni and Rosary Manzanilla as Pastor's Awardees. The said occasion was also graced by the presence of Dr. Ed and his family, and the Sunday School teachers in the college and working classes. A memento was presented as token of appreciation to the beloved pastor for propelling a godly vision for the young people. For a conclusion, Dr. Ed acknowledged that everyone's labour is not in vain in the Lord. By next year, he added that the Baccalaureate Fellowship will be invitational to the teachers of the graduates from both Baptist Heritage Bible College and the secular schools. To God be the glory!

The Bible is Everything to Me We often hear from the pulpit: “The way we treat the Bible is the way we treat God.” This may sound as a challenge, but it would mean much if we will have this for a testimony. Can each one of us say: “The Bible is Everything to Me”? When we were still newborns in Christianity, more than our necessary food like Job spoke of in Job we always remember what Apostle Paul said: “… 23:12. He openly declared that the Word of the Lord Desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow had been his most precious and priceless treasure. thereby” (1 Peter 2:2). Milk is a basic need of a baby Meanwhile, the author of Psalm 119, the chapter as the Bible is the topmost essential for growth of a which is all throughout about the Word of God, new convert. As God gives the increase in knowledge magnifies and uplifts the law. and wisdom, may we then esteem the word of God continued of page 06... 04

Sunday School Retreat Challenged the 6th Graders to “Fear Not” As a life-changing prelude to the annual promotion event for the 6th graders' transfer from Children’s Class to the High Schoolers’ Department , the Sunday School class with their teachers trooped to the picturesque rollinghilled Clubhouse Resort of Santa Rosa Heights and on to one of our promising mission churches in CBBM Tagaytay City last April 14-15. In these two blessed days, the 39 energetic 6th graders were treated to divided devotions in the swim site, three preaching fest from co-students in the mission house, and a spirited main challenge from Preacher Norman Gagni entitled “The Reason I Live.” The main thrust of this event were all taken from the theme “Fear Not!” anchored on the Scriptural Passage of Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” The vibrant spirit of the students in the “Talents' Night” was surely contagious as their three groups “Benjamin,” “Judah,” and “Ephraim” exhibited potential and dependence on God's grace alone. The preaching fest was of notable impact as our three preacher boys Raphael, Dante, and Ryko challenged the adult disciplees of Preacher Jerry Villasanta and exhorted them to preach for the Gospel as well. The graders were also very united in their participation during the intermission games and activities which girded them in healthy competition. The first night was concluded by a prayed-

up commitment for the Lord by way of written pledges offered to the Altar and casting out sins to be forsaken and burning them in the Bonfire Ceremony. Before leaving the Church, the first morning activity was given to a soulwinning drive by the graders and teachers. This yielded to about 112 professions of faith and 700 tracts distributed in the neighboring streets of the new Mission Church. The delightful awarding of Best in Activity, Cheering, Special, Characters, and Preaching followed suit wherein Team Ephraim bagged most of the awards. We are truly thankful for the sponsors, the teachers, Sir Jay-Ar Daracan and Preacher Jonah Raña for organizing and labouring in the preparation and accomplishment of this annual send-off to the 6th Graders of the Sunday School class. May the Lord continually strengthen and enable us to accomplish His will. It is our prayer that the Lord through His Church programs continually nourish in their hearts a yearning for spiritual things and that their lives be a wonderful testimony for the glory of God. 05

Ano ang Kamangmangan sa Iyong Buhay?

“And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God.”-Mark 12:24 Isa sa mga epektibong kaparaanang ginamit ng Panginoong Hesukristo upang maipaunawa ang Salita ng Diyos ay sa pamamagitan ng mga parabula at metapora. For ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.” Panalangin ni Job sa kapitulo 31:6, “Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.”

Naitala sa Philippians 2:15, “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and pwerverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.” Marahil

...continued from page 04 As for him, it is a source of refreshment and rejuvenation as it quickens (verses 50 and 93) and cleanses man from evil ways (verse 9). During such times of fainting because of a weakened spirit, may it be our attitude to turn to the Bible and reconsider it as a guide like the psalmist says in verse 105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Joshua surely never forgot the importance of God’s word as he hailed it to be his blueprint for success. God will surely bless our faithful treatment of the Blessed Book. If we only have our own copy of it, read it day and night, memorize, study, meditate and do its commands, a godly victory shall be our only path in Christianity. What else can a believer ask for if he can find everything in the Bible and find the Bible as his everything?

Isinulat ni Apostol Pablo sa 1 Timothy 4:15-16, “Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”

A student who was sent by his parents to a university afar off wrote his parents a letter, expressing how badly he needed money. His dad and mom simply advised him to read the Bible and go through the verses they will refer him to. Their son replied, “Yes, I will read it --- but I still need money!” The same scenario happened every so often. Until such time that he went home for the semestral vacation, the loving parents confronted their child and said, “You never read the Bible.” Little did the young man know that in the verses his parents told him of, there were bills inserted; some P100s, some even P500s. It is therefore so important that parents teach the Scriptures to their children as Deuteronomy 6:7-9 asserts. Passing the principles on to the next generation is the same as transmitting the love of God, and the charge to “… love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (Deut 6:5)”

What Shall We Render Unto God For All His Blessings Toward Us? Beata B. Agustin

For all God’s blessings toward us, especially our life everlasting… We must render our thanksgiving, expressing our sincere trusting With our joyful testimony about His compassion, never halting. Let us declare how He has rescued us from transgression’s wasting, Powerfully saving our soul from sin’s wages so grievously devastating! For all God’s blessings toward us, including our full forgiveness… We must render our faithfulness in showing forth His kindness With our diligent seeking-first eagerness for His righteousness. Let us proclaim how He has justified us against guiltiness, Purposively enabling our spirit to pursue after holiness! For all God’s blessings toward us, even our privileged stewardship… We must render our worship, lifting Him midst struggles’ hardship With our vibrant prayer-communion in His offered relationship. Let us share how He has satisfied us in our partnership, Plentifully meeting our needs as His children who delight in His fellowship! For all God’s blessings toward us, aside from our rich inheritance… We must render our service in advancing His kingdom by His assistance With our favorable presentation of our sacrifice thru His means of acceptance. Let us tell of how He has humbled us against hypocritical repentance, Plainly rebuking our pride for any labor-accomplishment remittance! For all God’s blessings toward us beyond our daily provision… We must render our offering, proving our sincere dedication With our joyful willingness to do our part in the Great Commission. Let us talk of how He has sustained us against difficult situation, Perfectly granting our desires when He favors our supplication! For all God’s blessings toward us, amidst our constant empowerment… We must render our commitment in supporting His church with our involvement With our full support for His kingdom of heavenly investment. Let us testify of how He has encouraged us by His commandment, Persistently driving our efforts toward spiritual fulfillment! For all God’s blessings toward us, along our assured victory… We must render our praise, exalting His name of magnificent glory With our fervent belief in His Word as well as His Gospel story. Let us assert about how He has strengthened us midst worry and misery, Providentially upholding our faith upon His work throughout history! 07
