"I MUST SEE THE CHURCH PEOPLE AS A TEAM INVOLVING TOGETHER IN GOD’S WORK."
PEOPLE IN INVOLVEMENT
It was the power of God again that greatly worked this past week in our National Baptist Youth Convention13. Even the discomforting hot weather did not stop the event and the young people from enjoying the fun, fellowship and preaching of God’s Word. The Lord be thanked for the 800 delegates representing 40 different churches, and I am so blessed to know that more than one third of those are from our church. Truly, God does still move in the hearts of the young people in this generation. I deeply appreciate all members, specially the parents who showed their all-out support for this event. Let us continue to follow-up our young people and pray for what God has started in their hearts. Let me also encourage you, the delegates, to stay on the right choice that you have made this week. Satan will try to get through you, but be determined to serve the Lord. Another appreciation I want to mention is how you always make my birthday a special one. Last Sunday night was really a special treat for me. Thank you for showing your love and support to me as your pastor. Let us work together in fulfilling God’s vision that He has placed in my heart. Part of that would be our upcoming activities. There will be Junior Camps, DVBS Workshops, and DVBS proper, soulwinning and follow-ups. Let us involve! There will be more opportunities to grow through God’s Word! Let us be humble in accepting them!

Life is not by chance. It's by choice.
23rd Commencement Exercise - April 24
Never tell a young person that something cannot be done. God may have been waiting for countless centuries for somebody ignorant enough of the impossibility to do that thing. God has created each youth to do Him some definitive service. He has committed some work to a young person which He has not committed to another. Each youth has a God- given mission. Young people will respond if the challenge is tough enough and hard enough. Youth wants a master and a controller. Young people were built for God, and without God as the center of their lives they become frustrated and confused, desperately grasping for and searching for security.
Undaunted by this scorching summer heat, 785 young people representing 41 Baptist Churches across the country converged to attend this year’s National Baptist Youth Conference (NBYC) at CBBC-SPL last April 23-26. With a very timely theme “iChoose” to coincide with the advent of smartphones, touchscreens and other gadgets and its capabilities, NBYC on its 13th year aims to emphasize to the next generation that a Godly life with a blessed future does not happen by chance, it happens by choice. Decisions made which are not based on godly wisdom will definitely ruin lives… not just our own but of those around us. The theme verse Deuteronomy 30:19 “ I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” became the crux of the entire conference, anchored on making choices based on the true and timeless principles of God’s Holy Word. Main speakers Dr. Ed Laurena, Dr. Gil Laurena, and Rev. Arnold Vallejo fearlessly challenged and rebuked the youth of the soundness of their choices. Eighteen session speakers exhorted on their assigned divided sessions/classes on subjects “Choice of Influence”, “Choice of Involvement” and “Choice of Integrity.” Correspondingly, to invoke interaction, fellowship, and teamwork, the delegates were strategically grouped into 13 teams namely iPray, iPreach, iWorship, iRejoice, iSubmit, iStudy, iStand, iGive, iSurrender, iServe, iInvolve, iWork, and iListen for games and activities. The conference culminated with Dr. Ed Laurena’s sermon to call that all the preaching and teachings heard during the conference must then prompt the young people to be zealous in winning the lost so they too will start to make that one most important choice in their lives…to trust Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord...and thus make godly choice thereafter. It was such a blessed event as 106 young people publicly professed and declared in the altar their surrender for involvement, influence, and integrity. To God be the glory for a successful NBYC 13!

HE Baptist Heritage Bible College (BHBC) 23rd Commencement Exercises was the highlight of the 2nd night of NBYC. Recognition and awards were given to exemplary students for the School Year 2011-2012. The event was indeed an encouragement to the young people that there is an institution where people called of God in the ministry be equipped for His vineyard. This year, BHBC graduated a total of 24 promising students in courses Graduate-in Theology, Certificate in Bible Education, and Diploma in Christian Education and 1 PreCollege Course student was promoted to the next level of education. Dr. Ed Laurena challenged the graduates to use what is in thine hand… Proverbs 3:27b”… when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.”. Praise God for the Heritage of the Baptist faith being handed down to the next generation.
