from your
Pastor
“Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Corinthians 15:57). Such is our triumphant declaration amidst the oppressive summer heat that is afflicting us these days, and even draining us physically. We are grateful to the Lord for assuring us His available overcoming power which we can depend on while we strive toward holiness, struggle against sin, and stand for what is right. This is what our Sunday School lessons are explaining, expounding, and exposing to us this month of May as we are anchored upon the theme, “God can give us victory!” Let us then learn from God’s Word and choose to become the godly warriors and spiritual conquerors that the Holy Spirit enables us to be - by His might, according to the Scriptures. We praise God for the victorious report that came from the first batch of our Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS) workers and participants. The entire DVBS program, with the lessons taught, the verses memorized and recited, the activities enjoyed, and the food shared, was blessed by God to achieve the endeavor’s aim – to lead the children and their families to the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Thus, all church members who supported this pursuit through their involvement, contribution, and prayer are worth commending for God’s glory. Since there are other Areas that are scheduled to have their DVBS next week, we must still continue praying, working and expecting for another
good success. Today is Mother’s Day. We honor the mothers of our church as we thank them for their great part in nurturing, nourishing, and nursing lives who are likewise responsible in building other lives. As your Pastor, I encourage each of you, Mother, to be first devoted to God, always obedient and submissive to Him, while doing your best in being the loving wife to your husband, the caring mother to your children, the faithful member of the church, and the fellow-laborer in the ministry of the Lord. I charge you to follow the example of Mary in diligently rearing up Jesus, to consider the courage of Jochebed in teaching Moses, and to acknowledge the prayerfulness of Hannah in raising up Samuel. The Lord is surely with you, and the church is cheering you in your desire, decision, and determination to be the mother God wants you to be. Happy Mother’s Day! Let us now worship the Lord, exalting Him joyously with this truth: “The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee. They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom” (Psalm 145:9-12).

Adults Enjoyed Their Respective Sunday School Class Retreats Amidst the scorching heat of the sun, an all-expense paidoff trip was fruitfully prepared for the Senior Citizens’ Class at Batis ng Makiling in Calamba City last Monday, May 4. An airconditioned bus was provided to bring them comfortably to the venue. Before feasting on their sumptuous picnic baon, Rev. Rey Calma, their Sunday School teacher, expounded on the Word of God. Fellowship of the Gospel, ministering to fellow saints and breaking of bread were the focal points of his devotion rooted on Acts 2:42. Surely it was a blessing to have within the group the new members of the class and the older ones who enjoyed the cool dip at the pool. What a sight to behold a grayheaded lady, Nanay Maria, who in her mid-80’s swam like a swan until the last hour of the occasion. Mind-boggling games were, on the other hand, facilitated by Bro. Chito Coronel, and such tested everyone’s intellectual prowess and strength of memory. Meanwhile, last Friday, May
1, as many were on long-weekend vacation with their families, the Cheerful Achievers’ Class had an in-house fellowship of their own. Headed by Rev. Jess Sibug and his family, the couples enjoyed a day of indoor and outdoor games while the children made a lot of fun inside an inflatable pool. The feel of a resort outing was surely experienced notwithstanding the joy of godly camaraderie, living up to build households of great faith through the principles from the Bible. Praise God for our Pastor’s vision of edifying the brethren through initiating fellowships per divided Sunday School classes. To God be the glory!
Deaf Camp 2015 Gloriously Blessed Two hundred and Five (205) Deaf campers emerged from eight churches to engage in different activities at the Redemption Ranch in Bgy. Talisay, Lipa, Batangas from May 4 t0 7. Seventy-nine (79) came from CBBC San Pedro, including the five hearing workers. The place provided a perfect ambiance for a Deaf camp. It has a typical view of a ranch with a couple of specially breed horses and some cows in their corral. The ranch is at the slope of a mountain, in the midst of tall trees and varieties of greens which maintain the cool and fresh air. It was a three-night of salvation place for Choir and Solo singing expose'. Thirty four (34) Deaf got contests. Surprisingly, the camp saved, and most of them were first had the same theme, "God Can." time campers. Mother’s Day Background It was a woman named Anna M. Jarvis who first suggested the national observance of an annual day honoring all mothers because she had loved her own mother so dearly. At a memorial service for her mother on May 10, 1908, Miss Jarvis gave a carnation (her mother’s favorite flower) to each person who attended. Within the next few second Sunday in May years, the idea of a day as Mother’s Day. He to honor mothers gained established the day as a popularity, and Mother’s time for "public expression Day was observed in a of our love and reverence number of large cities in for the mothers of our the U.S. On May 9, 1914, country." by an act of Congress, - Pulpit Helps 1991 President Woodrow President Wilson's Mother's Day Wilson proclaimed the Proclamation of May 9, 1914 05
O
ne of my favorite columns by Erma Bombeck tells of God in the act of creating mothers. She says that on the day God created mothers He had already worked long overtime. And an angel said to Him, "Lord, you sure are spending a lot of time on this one." The Lord turned & said, "Have you read the specs on this model? She is supposed to be completely washable, but not plastic. She is to have 180 moving parts, all of them replaceable. She is to have a kiss that will heal everything from a broken leg to a broken heart. She is to have a lap that will disappear whenever she stands up. She is to be able to function on black coffee & leftovers. And she is supposed to have six pairs of hands." "Six pairs of hands," said the angel, "that’s impossible." "It’s not
the six pairs of hands that bother me." said the Lord, "It’s the three pairs of eyes. She is supposed to have one pair that sees through closed doors so that whenever she says, `What are you kids doing in there?’ she already knows what they’re doing in there." "She has another pair in the back of her head to see all the things she is not supposed to see but must see. And then she has one pair right in front that can look at a child that just goofed & communicate love & understanding without saying a word." "That’s too much." said the angel, "You can’t put that much in one model. Why don’t you rest for a while & resume your creating tomorrow?" "No, I can’t," said the Lord. "I’m close to creating someone very much like myself. I’ve already come up with a model who can

To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” 06

Then the angel looked at the model of motherhood a little more closely & said, "She’s too soft." "Oh, but she is tough," said the Lord. "You’d be surprised at how much this mother can do." "Can she think?" asked the angel. "Not only can she think," said the Lord, "but she can reason & compromise & persuade." Then the angel reached over & touched her cheek. "This one has a leak," he said. "I told you that you couldn’t put that much in one model." "That’s not a leak," said the Lord. "That’s a tear.
Anghel dela Guardia
"Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." Wika nila lagi sa panalanging sinaulo, “Angel of God, my guardian dear: to whom God’s love entrust me here. Ever this day be at my side, to light and guide, to rule and guard. Amen.”
“But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it (Number 14:24).” “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD

(Joshua 24:15).” “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24).”

A World of the Wandering
"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." - 1 John 2:15 We all are wanderers in this temporal world we live in. But sadly, The word “world” here refers to “the world-system”—one of the enemies of every child of God. When God created the world, He put Adam in charge and gave him dominion over the Creation. However, there came a drastic shift in the order of things. THE BENDING RULERSHIP. When Adam rebelled against God, he took sides with Satan and came under his rule. Thus the dominion of the world passed out of Adam’s hands and into Satan’s. This is why the Bible calls Satan “the god of this world” as evidenced by the passage in 2 Corinthians 4:4, "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." Even though Satan now had the world under his control, he still had a problem. His problem was how to keep people in his kingdom. There was a way of escape. Those who turned to God escaped from Satan’s kingdom. Satan did not like this so he came up with a plan. Satan organized the people and the things in the world into a “world-system” based on selfishness, pride, greed, ambition, sinful lusts, and pleasures. There is nothing of God in these things. The world in this context is a human society where God is left out. Satan’s worldsystem includes entertainment, business, education, religion, politics, world kingdoms, world organizations, news media, and hundreds of other things. The world is anything that shuts God 08
out. Satan deceives people into thinking that this world is the only thing that matters. THE BLINDING REALITY. The ruler of this world is Satan. Satan allows people to be incharge of things and seemingly to make the decisions, but Satan himself is the unseen ruler of the world behind the scenes. The Bible says, "...the whole world lieth in wickedness”-1 John 5:19. “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."(1 John 2:16) Satan knows that he cannot keep Christians from going to Heaven, but his goal is to conform them to the world. He wants them to think like unsaved worldly people, to seek the same things they seek, and to do the same things they do. We are warned against loving the world and the things of the world. The Bible says, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” (1 John 2:15).God wants us to see that the world-system is controlled by Satan. To be a friend of the world is to be the enemy of God as attested in James 4:4. THE BLESSED REPRIEVE.
The Bible says in Galatians 1:4 that Jesus Christ “...gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present world...” When Jesus rose from the dead, He rose as the King of God’s new creation. There are now two creations—the old creation and the new creation. The old creation is the kingdom where Satan rules. The new creation is the kingdom where God’s Son, the Lord Jesus, reigns. Nothing of the old creation can come into God’s new creation. There is only one way that we, sinners, could come into God's new creation. God must end our old life and give us a new life. That is exactly what God did when He became sin for us through Christ on the Cross. When Christ died, we died with Him. When He was buried, we were buried with Him. That was the end of our old life so far as God is concerned. When Christ rose from the dead, we rose with Him as a new person in God’s new creation. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ; he is a new creation...” God has delivered us from Satan’s kingdom and put us in Christ’s kingdom. Let us not aim to be so comfortable here because we are just passing through this world.
